your correct in your info,i asked to my team manager and its true tanks for your info.Sorry i know my english is poor because i com from quebec and for your info i made labrie truck its my job, so have good day.
No problem man, and you're English is actually pretty good. I enjoy a bit of a debate now and then. It gives me reason to go do some research and learn more for myself too! Have a good one man!
So I did my research. Labrie has made the Top Select since the mid to late 1980's. You are correct there. I was mistaken in one thing though. Dempster made this body starting in the late 1970's. Dempster sold this design to Labrie when Dempster went out of business in the 1980's. All the info is available on classicrefusetrucks(dot)com
wat! lucky but right now my recycling is like up to my ankles! but on the bright side i do earn a little bit of cash collecting pop cans, beer bottles and other recyclable stuff!
lol i see these truck here in vancouver! but wat rlly is bullshit is that they dont take certain recylcling items anymore! and now my recycling piling up like shit man!
For whatever reason, the privately owned recycling center that WM contracts with in my town wasn;t really thrilled about having to sort it themselves, but they said they'd do it if WM kept the glass separate!
Recycling isn't mandatory here, so not many people recycle, even though it's free! But in 2009 we are likely going to have mandatory automated single stream recycling, as well as a yard waste program!
You know, sometimes in cul de sacs, the drivers here, if the trash is done, is put the truck in the beginning of it, take two trashbins, one for paper, one for co mingle and go around to each stop and fill up the trashcans, after that they just hook the trashbins up to the lifter and dump them just like the lifter on that truck.
It'd be cool if they did that here, cause my favorite part is when they do the carts on the recycle truck. Unfortunately they only have recycle carts at the schools, so when school starts again on August 26, I'll be able to get more vids of them dumping recycle carts!
Thanks! We actually only have to keep glass seperate, but that only started 2 months ago. We used to have to sort everything (Plastic, Glass, and Metal went into three seperate crates, and paper/cardboard had to be tied and put under the crates). But most people don't know that they only have to keep glass seperate now, so I'd say 90% of people still sort everything in my neighborhood!
6 eh? What was each slot for? We used to have 5 slots here...the first slot was the 2nd biggest and it was for plastics and colored glass, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th slots were all medium sized, the 2nd being for cans, the 3rd being for clear glass, and the 4th being for brown glass, and the 5th slot was the biggest, it was for mixed paper & cardboard...
Now we just have 2 slots 90% of the truck being for a mix of plastic, metal, paper, and cardboard, and a tiny slot at the back for mixed glass!
The front 1/3 of the body was plastic, the middle 1/3 was for newspaper, then 3 separate glass sections (these were as small as possible for colored, brown, and clear glass) and the remaining rear 3ft was for aluminum. Talk about a pain in the neck to sort.
Yeah...it used to take the drivers forever to sort the recycle here because we only got tubs for glass, plastic, and cans. So the glass had to be sorted, and then people often mixed in there paper and cardboard with everything else since they didn't give out tubs for it...Nobody liked doing recycling until they got rid of most of the sorting! More people have started recycling now too, since they only have to keep glass separate!
At least they gave out extra recycle bins there... when I was working, most houses had one bin and there was no order to the mess inside of it. Some people would even bag up their mixed recyclables and that made me crazy, especially since I had to rip open every bag, sort it and leave the bag behind. Not to mention the other random nasty stuff people would put in there (I've found underwear and even an entire spaghetti dinner), I basically sorted nasty garbage all day...
Yeah, we have a few "greenies" here that are so into recycling that they try to put used tissues and even toilet paper in there paper/plastic/metal bins! And we have the occasional person here that bags there recycle...that really used to piss off the guy that used pick up my neighborhood's recycle...And now that we can't have extra trash, people try hiding trash in the recycle just so that they don't have to pay 75 cents extra per month for a second cart...
The problem with an FL is that everything but glass gets mixed together, and glass gets kept separate, so we need a 90/10 split, where as an FL would have a 50/50 split...
Kann Mfg makes an adjustable FL that would work...however I don't believe it can do 90/10. I think the closest you could get is 70/30 with that body, but i'm not positive.
Yeah, I don't know what they'll do....I saw what I'm pretty sure was a split fl at the yard yesterday...it was from another WM location...it was a Wittke fl, and it looked like it was a 50/50 split...but I'm not 100% sure...
Yeah if it was a Wittke it's most likely a 50/50...or might be a 60/40. The Wittke ones are custom made to order. Kann makes the only adjustable one where you can change the carry can configuration based on the adjustments made to the body. Nevertheless, It'd be nice to see that Wittke!
Yeah, I only got a quick glimpse of it as I went past the yard on tuesday, so I'm not completely sure that it's for recycling, but I assume so because it had a carry can that was definitley not a Curotto Can, and since garbage is all ASL here, that's what leads me to believe that it's for recycling...
It's not a split FL, it's an older Wittke FL on an '02 Volvo chassis. It had a first generation Curotto Can on it, but they just changed it to a Curotto Can II. Apparently all the little rural areas just got switched from RL to FL and ASL, so they got a Curotto so that they can do both with one truck. This really kinda sucks, cause I wanted to get some footage of the old HEIL Formula 5000 RL that they used out there before, but I guess I can't now...
Wow, I can't believe I missed this comment for 5 months! Trash goes to a transfer station, and from there it goes to a landfill in Arlington, Oregon...recycling goes to a locally owned recycling center...This was shot in Kennewick, Washington at about 6 am!
No problem! I was just looking at the comments on some of my older videos today, and I'm like "Hey, I haven't seen that one before! IT'S 3 MONTHS OLD!!!!! Where the hell have I been?!?!"

That was a jug of used motor oil...there's a box on the other side of the truck where they put the jugs of oil...
