  • Here in Finland cake roll (or as we call it kääretorttu = roll tart) is a rather popular type of cake. It's filled with mashed fruit/berries or jam. A variation of it is a "dream tart" which has some cocoa in the batter and it's filled with some banana and whipped cream.

Oh, and when you're flipping the cake to the another parchment paper, the paper's supposed to be covered in sugar to prevent it from sticking. Then again our cake batter doesn't contain any added liquid. :D

  • @mrenrohk

  • ロールケーキの生地は、卵白と黄味は、わけたほうが良いのでわ?卵白を角が立つくらい泡立てないと生地のフワフワ感がでません。

  • I made this last week and my whole family LOVED it! Thank you so much for this awesome recipe! I only wish it were bigger though so I can eat more of it lol :P

Will definitely be making it often~

  • @aimeiix thank you ;)

  • i wonder if super fine sugar and confectioners sugar are the same????

    someone pls answer me...

  • @kawaiimiaka25 They're not the same! If you don't have superfine sugar, just use regular granulated sugar. That's what I did and the cake still turned out great! (Or you can actually make your own superfine sugar by putting the regular sugar into a food processor)

  • @aimeiix you are good at cooking :D wow!

  • Anyone else see a man's face in the batter at 2:18? :o

  • @MagicalLionTamer wow! that's cool! haha

  • @ochikeron If you look at it again, it looks like a woman with a bowl in her hands wearing a skirt. :)

  • holy crap, im so making this ~*off to buy an electric whisk* how long will this keep for btw? =]

  • @starltrubymoon maybe about a day because i used fresh cream..

  • @ochikeron understood! >3

  • Can i use all purpose flour?

  • @901crunchy i don't recommend but maybe you can... sorry for this answer X(

  • This recipe didnt work so well to me, I tried some substitutions, such as milk -> soy milk, and I used wax paper, but the paper ended up sticking on the cake and the cake didn't rise as well. I wonder what happened >.<

  • @fishmay The same thing happened to me:( Maybe it just takes practice, so I'll work at it! Wish me luck!:D

  • awww yummm!!!!

  • thinking of making this soon.never used cake flour.is it mandatory or is regular sifted flour fine?

  • @SirenoftheVoid regular flour is okay. btw, cake flour is also called soft flour or pastry flour.

  • @ochikeron yeah i have seen some at a grocery here.thanks for the reply

  • I love that oven! ;A;

  • i made it for x-mas - it turned out great ^^

  • @MissFroschkoenigin thank you :D i am happy to hear that!!!

  • That is one fancy oven.

  • What can i substitute for cream? :) Thanks great vid btw

  • @becsta457639 You can put some jam of your choice :D

  • Instead of using Cake Flour, Can we use All Purpose Flour ? O:

  • @ixCandis not really, but you can use it if you don't have ;)

  • hey, im am from uruguay and the roll cake you make in this video in my country is called pionono it can be savory and sweet i love both . the sweet way is my favorite because its a dulce de leche and coco with chocolate yumm and the savory one has ham cheese hard boil eggs and mayonase :)

  • @fafinmac ham cheese eggs sounds very interesting! thanks for sharing ;D

  • I hate you, "send" button on iPad. Why must you be so sensitive? Anyway, whoever disliked this video needs a sex life.

  • Whoever disliked this video needs a sx

  • Can I use Splenda granulated sugar?

  • WHY DO I KEEP WATCHING PPL MAKE FOOD I CANT EAT LATE AT NIGHT???!!! 囧

  • this looks super yummy! im totally making this

  • Thank you for video they are easy to follow and thank you for Japanese and English subtitles

  • In Mexico, we have a similar dessert and we call it "wrapped kid" (nino envuelto) LOL ; )

  • @moramoon I know I love that cake xD! I remember that when I was a kid I used to imagine a real kid wrapped in a cake ._.

  • @moramoon i forgot to try that when i've been to mexico once! very interesting!!!

  • @ochikeron Next time you come to Mexico don't forget to try it!!!. I really like it, my younger brother and I used to make it a lot.

  • @moramoon no sweetie niño envuelto it's made with Bimbo bread, ham, mayonnaise, etc

  • @conishuaa there are at least two types of nino envuelto, the sweet one and the one made with meat or ham.

  • @moramoon I'm sorry maybe you are right =( is just that in mi town we don't call it niño envuelto

  • I love your video so much. It is so adorable and so nice to watch .

  • Awesome :D

I will try it as soon as school vacation time starts c:

If I use all purpose flour, will that mess up the recipe?

  • This is insane, how is it that everytime the japanese do it, it turns out fine then when you try it, problems occur.

e.g, swiss rolls crack when they are rolled up

  • nice, but why is this a Japanese recipe? XD

  • Ochikeron, please make a chocolate roll cake :3

  • @ChibiRanzie Just add cocoa powder

  • instead of superfine sugar, is it okay to use regular sugar? i tried looking all the grocery stores that i have in my city but i couldn't find any.

  • @riku134 yes ;D

  • @riku134

I think its also called berry sugar, it means fine sugar , its company name is Rogers

i Think people also call fruit sugar as well

  • @riku134 Superfine sugar is just sugar that is ground but not into a powder. You can probably pick up a grinder online or try a sifter.

  • Talking oven FTW!!!

  • Wow! That looks so yummy! Love this recipe. Im going to try it! thanks

  • That hair colour totally suits you but you look beautiful either/anyway

  • @warwolf4504 thank you! but i am thinking of changing it again to the one i usually use... since it didn't fix my pudding hair!!! lol

  • I like ur baking videos.. You show us how to do baking very calmly and well. Also, the recipes don't look difficult but are wonderful and creative. Thank you Ochikeron!! :D

  • Great cake recipe, but I think you could have used a longer baking sheet so that your roll had more of a swirl than a tube-like appearance.

  • Neat recipe, but I must admit, your hair color intrigued me the most. After that it was hard to concentrate on much else.

Marshmallow Ash ay? Interesting choice... looks good on you.

  • omg!! your hair is so gorgeous!!!

  • I love your channel more and more <3

I feel as if you live in a perfect world, video, music, cooking utensils, oven etc... everything is perfect, and you're so nice and your explanations are always clear !

  • @TsubasaNoUsagi that is too nice of you to say! hehe but i will do my best to share fun recipes :)

  • @TsubasaNoUsagi

She's attractive and from a well-off upper-middle class background, presenting a cooking tutorial that lasts just a few minutes. That you're extrapolating an impression of perfection from that is naive and depressingly superficial. These videos aren't her real life or the real her, not even close.

  • @kumakouji "I feel as if you live in a perfect world" obviously no one in this world live in a perfect world, but in my opinion the video looks so beautiful, the food good and so easy, so cute.

if behind that there is everything you just said, I do not care about anything! ( ̄ー ̄)

ahahahah... I still love it! ヾ(≧∇≦*)ゝ

...I like this channel and she is very nice. I don't think it's wrong if I like it....

  • when you add the vanilla, whip it in as well ;D

  • just a recommendation for the cream. add 1/2 tsp of real vanilla essence to it and it'll taste wonderful!

  • @honey2362 よかったです♪

  • love the tutorial! :D your a great chef.

is cake flour just self-raising/plain flour ?

is the cream you used whipping cream ?

  • @kerahouse1 as far as i know... cake flour has a lower protein content and is much much finer then normal flour. its much better to use cake flour for cakes. im pretty sure she's using whipping cream :)

  • it is plain flour. i used fresh cream but heavy whipping cream is okay ;D i will fix my recipe in the description box! sorry i got confused and wrote wrong. hehe
