Well Vipers aren't known for their cornering ability anyway. Just straight brute force. Now if they'd used a Roush stage 3 Mustang, or a Corvette. This woulda been different. Ford GT even?

Same can be said for the cart? Put a competent driver behind the wheel. At the end of the day, the cart is better spec'd for the race, I knew from the start it was faster in about everyway than the car, especially a viper.

Nothing to argue about here. It's an amusing race between two vehicles from different classes. If the straights were really long, the Viper would win easily. If the track had more twisties, the Kart would be miles ahead.

It's just entertainment, and good fun to watch.

the power to weight ratio of that kart must be hovering around the 1000bhp/ton, compared to the Vipers 360 odd bhp/tonne. That kart has a higher power to weight ratio of pretty much any LMP1 class racer lol!

It does happen tho. some drivers have brought their Ultima GTR's down to/ slight under 2 lbs/bhp. (i don't think that's an LMP1 class?) You also need to consider the fact that the drivers weight is a much greater percentage of the cart's final weight than it would be in such a race car. A well assembled Ultima GTR can climb to 60 in 2.9, and they brake amazingly fast, so it would be an interesting match up.

I'm English mate, got no idea what lbs/bhp actually MEANS in the real world. GTR's kick ass (and are English!) though (even if the engine's American [remind you of any other famous sports cars yet?]).

well, 1 tonne is about 2,200 lbs., so 2 lbs/bhp is a slightly better power ratio than 1000bhp/tonne. I've never liked American cars, to be honest. They're generally too big, heavy, and unwieldy. We do make ridiculous engines tho. The GTR is my dream car, and with its reasonable price, it's a reachable dream. I want the 800 bhp engine, but that costs a bit more than the car itself, and many people say 650 is as much as would feel safe. Time will tell.

I would have thought that unless you are like an amateur (or even a pro) drag racer or track racer, 400bhp would be more than enough for any road. Ok, on massive straights go for the 650. But just remember, on real, twisty, pockmarked, greasy roads, you would never be able to put down all 650 of those horsepowers, never mind 800.

Head over to Laguna Seca or wherever and it'd be a different story!
