I actually have one of these for sale. It has the original monitor and keyboard too. I have way too many vintage computers and need to pare down my collection.
My first computer!! our father bought us one Tandy 1000RL in a flea market some 25 yrs. ago!!, In a Radio Shack we saw the Tandy Sensation and we got shocked what a sound and graphics!!!.
Man, this makes me kinda nostalgic. It seems that most of today's PC users can only think about playing GAMES on their machines!
Most of us were lucky if we even had a PC-compatible, since they were very EXPENSIVE then. I was fortunate to have a Tandy 1000HX and a friend living nearby with a copy of DM3 he'd let me borrow. :-)
I've seen OutRun running on a Tandy 1000, I can't be sure which version, but the music and sounds are so much better than a PC wish a shitty PC speaker in it, when you start Outrun on one of these, you hear "Sega Computer Software presents, OutRun!".
My Tandy worked very well but we found it useless after a time. All we did with it was play Leisure Suit Larry one two and three. When I used my brand new 386 I was surprised to find no sound card. The RL had a cheep card but it at least it had one.
Tandy sound and colour set it apart. CGA with 16 colours (kind of EGA but not) and 3 channel DACs for actual speech. Even sampled and sequenced music which was loads of fun.
Does anyone remember the pachelbel cannon that came preloaded in the music program? This was my second computer, and I learned a lot by playing around with it. PC-Link was awesome.
DeskMate is awesome! I play with version 3.69 in VirtualBox. You should get a copy of DeskMate 3.69 off of the internet and install it on the HD of this thing - it has a lot of improvements over 3.04. 3.69 was the very last version. Awesome video.
The so-called DeskMate "3.69" is actually DeskMate 3.05, and the changes compared to 3.04 are minimal. It shows the real version number when you start up, but on anything faster than a 286 processor, it disappears too quickly for you to read!

That unit boots up rather quickly for a computer of its age.

I bet you can run Crysis maxed out on that beast!

Not quite, but I wouldn't want to play a game like that, anyway. The whole fun of classic PC games is that you have to use your imagination!

The Tandy 1000 RL-HD was my very first computer. Man, I miss that thing.
Of course, I can run Deskmate from Windows...but I can't hear the music from the music program.
But to have the actual system, and it still functioning...awesome.
I'd forgotten the distinctive sound it made when it turned on. Man, the memories.
