I'm not Russian, Ukranian or American. As an independent following both space programmes over the years, the Buran/Energia system by far outclassed the American STS. The FACTS speak for themselves. Buran was an unfortunate victim of political change and scarcity of funding just as the STS has ultimatley been. Both systems would eventually have been complimentary had Buran continued. They are ultimate engineering marvels, taking different tracks to find a similar solution. I'd still opt for Buran

WOW. here in America we use bigger shuttles and smaller shuttle CARRIERS in which the carrier of the shuttle is much smaller than the 225. As a matter of fact, our carriers are Boeing 747's, which have 4 engines, and the 225 is almost 2 times bigger than the 747! The Buran is MUCH smaller than the Space Shuttle, why would you get a huge plane to carrier something so small.

I'm not Russian, Ukranian or American. As an independent following both space programmes over the years, the Buran/Energia system by far outclassed the American STS. The FACTS speak for themselves. Buran was an unfortunate victim of political change and scarcity of funding just as the STS has ultimatley been. Both systems would eventually have been complimentary had Buran continued. They are ultimate engineering marvels, taking different tracks to find a similar solution. I'd still opt for Buran

WOW. here in America we use bigger shuttles and smaller shuttle CARRIERS in which the carrier of the shuttle is much smaller than the 225. As a matter of fact, our carriers are Boeing 747's, which have 4 engines, and the 225 is almost 2 times bigger than the 747! The Buran is MUCH smaller than the Space Shuttle, why would you get a huge plane to carrier something so small.

There was a demonstaration of aerospace stuff in paris at that time and russians wanted to demonstrate both, antonov 225 and buran. Thats the only reason why it was caarying buran. why bother carrying it with other aircraft if antonov is also going to demonstration.

Besides, our shuttle carrier can carry 3 space shuttles, and we use more than one orbiter, so we can put 3 if wanted to.
