  • If you don't know jack shit about nutrition and physiology, don't post in the first place.

    Fat is an essential macronutrient, without fat, you die. Hormone production is largely dependant on fat, so if you're not eating enough fat you won't feel very well nor put on much muscle.

  • Gaining weight is impossible without a calorie excess (eating more than you need to). Steroids help to promote anabolism which repairs muscle tissue faster, but if you're not eating enough you won't gain weight.

    Steroids don't make you big unless you want to.

  • Actually there is some things that he says that is true. The best thing to loose weight is to eat 5-6 times at one day and work out with cardio and weightlifting. The meals should be healthy smal meals with slow carbs.

    When you doing that the body will burn fat.

    The wrong thing people often do is that they don´t eat anything because they think they will lose weight, and you will but you will also look like a scarecrow or something....

  • Meal frequency doesn't have anything to do with metabolism. You could eat one meal a day and lose weight better than someone eating 5-6 times a day, it all boils down to calories in vs calories out.

    Your body burns fat when it isn't being satisfied by the food that you are eating. You could eat fried chocolate chips and lose weight.

  • anyone with fitness questions let me know. I went from 190 pounds with close to 20% body fat, to 172 with around 14% body fat (lost fat) to 192 with around 12% body fat (gained muscle AND lost fat), and now I'm 205 with below 10% body fat (same as last one). I know how to bulk, cut, whatever you want. I did it completely clean, too.

    6 meals a day, healthy meals. healthy food isn't always nasty food. think steak is nasty? it's good for you

  • cardio? grab a sledge, an old tire, and wack away. go for 1 min on, 1 min rest, until you have 10 total min on. work your way to 1 min on, 50 sec rest, and so on, until you can do 10 straight minutes on. when you hit it, go fast but controlled. it's a HIIT workout.

    fact: sprinting then resting then sprinted (repeated) is better for fat loss and most atheletes than long distance running.

    fact: unless you're a freak, eating junk food will stop you from having abs.

  • If you can maintain a heartrate of 120, (You should have a small beat of sweat around your forehead) You should be able to burn the fat off, as-well with a good healthy diet. If you want you can PM me and I can give you some more information.

  • Calculate your Bodyweight in Pounds x by 1.5 for your Protein! (example 200Ibs Bodybuilder x 1.5 = 300g Divide this by 5 (5 Meals a day) & that is 60g of Protein) 200Ibs guy needs 60g of Protein in each meal!!! For Carbs x Bodyweight by 2.5 & for Fats x Bodyweight by 0.25g....Hope this helps.

  • It's a myth that you can lose fat in one localised area. Fat isn't burned in the area you're working out, it's converted and mobilised into the bloodstream. Regardless of what area you work on, fat loss is more or less evenly distributed.

    Basically the answer to your question is lots of effort and lots of discipline. The body adapts to what you do with it. You won't look athletic unless you do enough athletic shit for your body to adapt in that way.

  • A great video, with a great sense of humour, Jehu. As a physician, I particularly like the concluding disclaimer. Though I don't need to lose weight, I could use some additional muscle -- you look great! And cancer, ah -- I'm being treated for CA of the prostate, despite having worked that bitch since I got my gun loaded at age 10. The medications COULD have given me an unwanted rack of tits, but so far haven't. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

  • Definately higher reps. You can get away with one body part twice a week, since you are not training heavy. No I did not do cardio before breakfast cause I'm not a morning person.

    I suppose basically it comes down to listening to your own bodys needs ie tweeking carbs up and down depending on your aerobic activity and protein levels with the amount of muscle breakdown. And of course the good old mirror.

    I know if your a serious bodybuilder you end up weighing and counting every calorie.

  • I agree with your general guidelines with one exception. Higher reps are not better. Switching it up is the best way to keep the body guessing. Higher reps burn more calories but will cause you to lose strength and muscle. Try doing a day of 3x15 then 4x8 then 5x5.

  • Damn your looking good! I'm desperate to get my old waistline back, but retain size and strenth.

    After cutting out bad carbs and losing 10lbs my fat reduction has come to a halt. Is the answer to reduce or eliminate good starchy carbs ie jacket potatoes, wholemeal breads and rice. Feeling low on energy is not something i'm looking forward to.

    Did keeping or raising your protein levels enable you to retain muscle when lowering overall calories.

  • You still need to cut down on good starch, too. High protein will help retain muscle, but you will lose some. I know it sucks, but that's the only way.

    Meal Plan

    7:00AM 4 egg whites 1 yolk with 1 slice of whole wheat bread or oatmeal

    9:30-10:00 Grapefruit or apple with slim fast or other protein bars

    12:00PM chicken, tuna, or turkey salad with fat free dressing

    4:00PM steamed vegetables with lean beef, chicken or fish (red snapper, salmon, trout, sea bass, tilapia, mackeral) no catfish

    7:00PM Grapefruit, pears, apple, or cantalop no bananas or grapes

  • Do you ever drink skimmed milk for added protein in diet

  • If you want added protein use Whey mixed with water. Skimmed milk has lower than average fat but it still adds up fast. You don't need "added" anything in your diet really though. Decide what macronutrients you need in a day and fix up a strict diet to suit it. It's hard to get all the vitamins and minerals when you're aiming for a caloric deficit in your diet so don't forget supplements.

  • u need milk for calcium as it helps makin a better use of the protein! if not ur body will have to take the calcium from ur bones which is not good!

  • You do realise that some races of people are nearly 100% intolerant to the lactose in milk right? A natural diet wouldn't contain any milk whatsoever after infancy. There are plenty of sources of calcium besides milk; Sardines, oranges, broccolli etc.

  • Bananas have more potassium, which has been shown to lower blood pressure, create optimum nerve functioning during exercise, reduce muscle soreness, increase strength, and helping in synthesis of protein. These things are obviously vital for bodybuilders. Conclusively, 2 bananas and a protein shake is the best post-workout meal. Some Bodybuilders think Bananas have too much sugar and it will make them fat but every bodybuilder I know eats them especially Post Workout.
