Man's a sodding genius. My math teacher stood up and lectured us on this for fifty-five minutes, yelling idiocy like "Any drunk monkey can do this!" whilst everyone has no idea what he's talking about. This guy taught me in less than five. Fantastic!
Thank you sir!!! Took me about a hour to finally figure this out!!! I have a good math teacher but....it seems like she goes through the lesson too fast. AHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH! i was stuck on the 3x-8y<16 problems because i thought you left the prblem alone after you turned it into y=mx+b form. THANK YOU!
thank you so much i finnally understood with your help what side is the one you shade... and your tutorials are easy to understand! you and your videos have been helping me understand math better and help me pass math tests!
thank you so much, i did had a test about this, this vid helped me so much, i got such a high grade, that i got accepted into coral reef, the best high EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!! YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thank you man but i think the (x < -4) is wrong right???? the graph /// we have to colored in the other side rigth or i m wrong// if im please tell me y.. please
It depends with application. If you are graphing numerous inequalities and you are trying to find their "intersection" then it is convenient to shade the opposite and what remains unshaded is the area of interest. What is needed is to understand why you are shading then you will not be confused by the shading or non-shading.
Haha, you godly teacher. Honestly, any mathamatical term is automatically shut off from my brain. I have such a hard time understand the concepts because I can't concentrate. Thank you for posting the video. However, what if the Y by itself is a negative? How do we change it into a positive?
OMG I love you!!! I so get it now... All I needed help with was how to get the lines because I wasn't sure if it was the same as the equations but it is
You shade the portion of the graph that makes the inequality true. If it's a greater than, you shade the values greater than (above) the points on the line. If it's less than, you shade all the values less than (lower) then the y-values that make up the line.
@xoxnatalia12 It depends with application. If you are graphing numerous inequalities and you are trying to find their "intersection" then it is convenient to shade the opposite and what remains unshaded is the area of interest. What is needed is to understand why you are shading then you will not be confused by the shading or non-shading.

Thank you sooo much! I am back in college after being out of school for 20 years. Your explanation was so simple to understand! Can't thank you enough!
Use alphabetical order. Think of the g as your x, and the s as your y-variable. Isolate s on one side of your inequality, and then use the method shown here to graph.
If the slope is negative, the line will be falling from left to right. If it's a greater than, you shade above the y-values of the line. If it's a less than, you shade below all the y-values of the line. So, in the end, I don't really consider the slope affecting how you shade.

But I have a question,on the last problem when you divide everything by -8 what happens to the -3x??
I can see that on the bottom It became positive?
You don't solve for x? For example +16/-8 became -2 but what about -3x/-8?

since values less than -4 include -5, -6, -7, etc.
They are all to the left!
