Wow, this ad is appalling, and incredibly illuminating of the plight of both women and animals in this society. Both are depicted as things to be consumed, the unwanted bits cast aside / marginalized.

Fight all oppression. Go vegan, and don't be afraid to call yourself a feminist. As others have said, being a feminist just means thinking men and women are equal. Is that really such a radical idea?

It doesn't refer to an extreme man-hating philosophy, but simply to the notion that---duh---men and women are of equal value and ought to be treated as such. And while I'm not overly sensitive, I didn't even find this ad very funny or clever at all. *shrug* I'd bet that a lot of the people who'd be offended by it are no less attractive than the woman in it...then again, attractive/hot are totally subjective.

I'm glad Ofcom pulled this grotesque advert. It's not 'just a joke', would you laugh at casual racism? No, at least, I hope not.

What is wrong with the woman that won't have sex on the first date? To make the social comment that acting like her is 'wrong' sends out an APPALLING message to today's women.

And they wonder why we have the highest rate of teenage pregnancy in Europe.

If you read up you'll see that the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority), (not Ofcom) didn't in fact pull this advert. The advert was deemed unsuitable to be screened around childrens TV programming but all complaints regarding the ad being offensive, sexist or demeaning towards women were in fact dismissed. Its still on air, I saw it this weekend!

You really need to be able to draw a mental line between reality and a young lads fantasy, the intended humour is clearly lost on you.

And actually, yes, this DOES provide social commentary. ALL pop culture does. It shows what we do and don't tolerate, and what we do and don't believe in or prioritize. It also re-enforces such issues, believe it or not. Whether subconsiously or blatantly, good or bad, this is what the producers of the ad, vendor, and most viewers (since the media does tend to mostly cater to the young male audience) believe in.

Stupid ad (yes, women are just holes to this guy, to get into and out of as quickly as possible), but then again this is a nasty product for lazy people. Rustlers food is nasty, tasteless and high in salt, about what you'd expect from a plastic burger in a plastic box. This is the kind of "food" you get in a petrol station.
