in my opinion, there was the acid rock bands like zeppelin, hendrix, sabbath, steppenwolf, deep purple, alice cooper, ect... then you got the early 70's punk & glam rock bands like mc5, stooges, new york dolls, ramones, aerosmith, ect... then you got the mid 70's hard rock bands like grand funk, kiss, lynyrd skynyrd, acdc, ect... then late 70's, metal started with motorhead, judas priest, van halen, def leppard, twisted sister, quiet riot, ect.... 1980's was the metal invasion !

"Led Zeppelin, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath" = 60's 70's hard acid rock bands that influenced the creation of heavy metal. Rush is a 70's 80's rock band. Joan Jett was a hard rocker in the 70's with the runaways and a solo rocker in the 80's. Alice in chains are like some kind of 90's alternative Seattle grunge band. Dio started off hard rock in the 70's and went into metal around the time Ozzy did !

Kiss exposed Ac/Dc internationally, like with Iron Maiden in the 80's, taking them on intercontinental tours, Kiss was an enourmous help for both of them.

@GOORVY there's no good new bands yet, if you heard some of the recently signed local bands in my area, they have amazing influences, such as PanterA, and other perfect Metal bands, such as KISS. They sound amazing, I have their EP, I got their shirt for free, I have a drumstick, and every show I go to that they play, I get to go on stage and sing Walk with them, their a rather epic band, so before you say there's no good music, you should probably wait atleast five to ten years before assuming

The Doors, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, The Velvet Underground, KISS, Aerosmith, Chicago, Kansas, Boston, Alice In Chains, The Killers, Metallica, Motley Crue, Megadeth and Australia only had Inxs, because the members of AC/DC are from Europe but got together on Australia
