Being lucky enough to have travelled all around the world, i enjoy the differences by way of the beast Vegas is false but i found that the Americans always do it well and with a smile on there face. The service compared to the UK is outstanding, an old guy from Nebraska said to me once We have the Worst of everything but we also have the best of everything so if your discerning you can enjoy the best. Looking forward to seeing you all in vegas,
J, I've lived in USA my whole life... and your right, our tv has WAY WAY WAY to many commercials and they advertise the product like we are below them somehow... yet it works on the stupid (maybe part of why our economy is epic failure)
What you get out of ANY show is what you put into it. If you go with the notion that "this is gonna suck", you'll be right! Networking with other people that just may do things differently to you is always worthwhile. Go - you'll get things out that'll make you a better DJ and a better business owner.
Damn I sure hope the show is not lame. I spent a lot of money on the show and tickets. But the trip for me won't be a waste. I mean its Vegas so even if the event is a flop. We'll just go see some other show LOL. Besides the IRS is paying for mine. Still though the MBLV ad hopefully is not paying justise to what a mobile dj can get from the event.
J. Im american and when I saw that ad for Mobile Beat I thought to my self "This is Horrible!!!" Actually I was kind of put off by it because Im really considering spending some of my hard earned cash on a trip to Vegas... The ad really sucks and When I showed it to some of my other DJ friendS that also happen to be American they thought the same thing... "this show is going to be LAME"
This is why we have youtube, facebook, myspace, email, tv, radio, INTERNET. If it wasn't for the people chattering talking at the pub announcing on the radio. Reporting on the news and chatting about a product. Then we wouldn't have the INTERNET. Or even worse wouldn't be human. We are all born to chatter and communicate. Some in some areas just haven't caught up to the speed yet. This is why America seems so strange to others. But your next :)
What if- WHAT IF can you imagine if there was no commercials? Just the programs. Well in there is no commercials then there would be no news. News in itself is a commerical selling an idea or agenda. What if there wasn't people chattering. This is what news and commericals are. Your sitting at the pub and somebody wants to talk to you about a certain point!!! Amercians have learned to chatter more than others and faster than others.
Haha welcome to the experience of local business advertising in Vegas/Reno, I get to experience the joy every time I go to the Reno Jazz Festival - and sometimes hit Vegas :-)
This is why I stick with Podcasts, YouTube and Hulu!
There's a reason that we advertise like that in America, and that's because the majority of people arn't intelligent to realize that they're making everything on the advertisement up to scare you or convince you to buy the product. The UK doesn't have those kinds of Ads, but they don't have our consumer-based economy either ;)
This is not true. America has exported its culture, starting after WW II. Britain is one of the countries that has come to implement by far the most of these American influences (because of the mutual Anglo-Saxan roots). France for example has resisted a lot more. Yet, all of Europe's economies have become consumer-based, as this is part of inevitable global modernization, not Americanization. That does not mean that certain cultural elements were lost and that explains most of the difference.
that must have been CNN.. i remember the last time i tried to watch larry king, i guessed about 1/2 the time was ads. just crazy trying to putup with it.
you forget we are thick ... we are the fatist Country in the world ;D
