Even if you like your state representative, vote them out! That's how we can change the rules. Be warned though. Corporations are watching. There will be more Romneys out there running for political office. This is known as the "revolving door" in politics. The banker becomes your congressman. The CEO becomes your senator. And you become the slave! Do you see it yet? Does the Occupy movement give you any clues about what's happening?
The skills needed to be a good businessman are not the same that are needed to be a good politician. Romney cares more about money and power than patriotism. Sadly, this is true of more than 90% of elected officials.
9 out of 10 crooks, assassins, drug cartels, conmen, extortionist, embezzlers, and other assorted low life crooks prefer to bank in the Cayman Island.
And yet the Republican clowns are bitching that people that make less than $10,000 a year don't pay any taxes. the arrogance of these people is unbelievable. It's ok for these crooks to continue to play games while poor families are scraping by to get enough food for their families. Absolutely sickening !
Unfortunately, I see nothing changing until there is major reform such as measures to make politics a more level playing field. People with experience and knowledge of the middle class are effectively barred from running for ANY political office thru financial constraints.
Most very rich people (the only ones who can afford to run for office) are expert in exploiting the masses to acquire their fortunes, but its those honest hardworking masses that need representation - now more than ever!
my friend used to work for a tax haven lobby & he says just like how corporations incorporated in delaware don't touch delaware, that money "invested" in the cayman islands is nowhere near those islands
@AdenCrockerTV This is correct. Here's what happens. I would call our Cayman attorneys at Walkers and ask them to form an LP. They can do it really fast and they have all the infrastructure for complying with Cayman Law. They would then e-mail me a color PDF of the Cayman Certificate of of Limited Partnership. I would then forward that to Goldman Sachs and they would open the account and register it as being in the Cayman Islands. The money never leaves the US.
@AdenCrockerTV I now believe that it's an indefensible practice. It's sole purpose is to avoid taxation. However it's difficult to ban because the simple act of having that little piece of paper from the Cayman Islands means the money is not under US jurisdiction. And you can't just completely ban money going overseas because there are legitimate reasons for it to go overseas. And lots of campaign donations come from people who use the Caymans, so lawmakers are in no hurry to outlaw it.
It'll be interesting to see how the republican spin machine churns this one into something positive...
The American Dream, back when it existed.. used to mean something. Republicans have turned it into a fucking infomercial you see at 2am... 'you can be rich one day too!, it's sooo easy!'
@UltraVert umm, there is no such thing as an "American Dream". It doesn't exist today nor has it existed in the past. It was a tactic used to get Americans to be the most "wasteful" consumers in the world. And it worked!
Well I would have to disagree, the 50's.. economically speaking.. was absolutely the most prosperous time in this nation. Union membership was at it's strongest point..creating the middle class, and large corporations were kept in check.
A middle class family could live well on one paycheck if they so desired.
Take away money and what's left, survival... and that's what this game is all about. If being able to survive isn't the American Dream... I don't know what is.
@UltraVert If it ever was real and not a deceptive tactic used by our government, then I would say that the "American dream" is merely ancient history.

Just to set the record straight:
We have no connection to Romney's Caymen Island accounts.
We have no personal Caymen Island accounts.
We've never been to the Caymen Islands. However, if you're willing to pick up the tab, we're listening.
