What does this chanting do to you or what are the benefits. I was told if you want something in life, chant it a million times and you'll get it. Is that true? Let's say you want a car and chant a Million times you'll have the car or anything you want in life.
When we chant "Nam-myoho-renge-kyo", we are not petitioning or beseeching an external being to act in our favor. Rather, we are repeatedly sending out an expression of our determined intention as we bring forth from within ourselves our highest life potential. Our elevated life-state, in turn, elicits the environment's-indeed the entire universe's-support for our aims, and causes to arise within us the wisdom to take the best course of action for achieving the objective of our chanting.
I'm really would like to tell..that can change ours lifes to be better and better each day, and look for everyone with compasion.Because of this we can work to help others...always and don't contest nothing.

Nice video, but wanted to add a comment. Soka Gakkai is an offshoot of Nichiren Buddhism. Nichiren was ab interpreter of Buddhism (of many) It follows the lotus sutra. I don't recall hearing of "mystic law of the universe" in Nichiren. To answer another poster, no Nichiren Buddhism is not an obsessive faith.Its members (ideally) seek enlightenment.. Please be aware there is a dictinction between Nichiren and other sects. I am not a member of any, but was raised as a Nichiren Buddhist.
@ lnishihara - The term "Mystic Law" is translation among others. When referring as the law of cause and effect, it has also been translated as the "Wonderful Law" for example. The term "Mystic" was chosen here because it expresses that which is difficult to grasp.
I remember when I first went to a big meeting. About This in 1981.Me and my best freind both paid 10$ to become members. I got pulled over doing 15 over the speed limit. the soka gakkai is an extremely wealthy group. there is some controversy surrounding them, but they advocate nam myoho renge kyo therefore I am a friend of the group. nam myoho renge kyo is a powerful chant. the soka gakkai is a good group if you really need support to change and improve your situation. they are very zealous and there are rules of conduct. there are many Nichiren groups. some chant the slight variation of namu instead of nam. It's vast - you would have to explore options.

Hello, I was just wondering if it is correct for us to show the gohonzon in part or full in a video...As far as I know I don't feel it's correct. May I please request you to kindly reedit the video to remove parts that show the characters of nam myoho renge kyo.
That is NOT part of the Gohonzon, just the writing of Nam myoho renge kyo (that I found on the internet incidentaly) in it's original language. it is no more offensive or wrong than writing it in english. I appreciate your concern, but the video will stay as is.
Is nichiren buddhism an obssessive faith? Does it have very strict rules, such as you need to not show the gohonzon, etc., like in the three big organized religions? I am interested in it, but my mind is too open to accept anybody trying to impose some arbitrary rules on my life. Do you have an answer to this? Just a brief impression is sufficient now, as I will keep on learning about it and find out myself anyway. Thank you.
We dont show the Gohonzon out of respect. There are no hard and fast rules, and everyone takes thier path. There are those who suppose our way is the inly way, but I pay them no mind. It is to each of us top find our own path. I say it is the simplest, most accessable Way for the masses.
Find out about it! When I was 19, I stumbles upon this. I too am not one to fololow rules. One thing I was told is that maintaining a rhythm is important. Every practice has a tradition, I personally follow my own regimine and it still works. Now that I found the actual prayers on here I will be doing it with that, it helps keep tha rhythm and you learn pronounciation. Enjoy the life changes you will have :)
There are no rules, no doctrine, no restrictions on how you live, choose to live, want to live. We say the same Mystic Law that governs us governs everyone equally. So whether one likes it or not, Karma effects all; if you act sincerely generous, generosity finds you again. If you act sincerely doubtful, doubt will follow you, basically we believe what u put out is what you get back REGARDLESS if you chant or not. There is no god to pray to, just bringing forth our own buddhahood from within.
Just go and check out this site: Soka Gakkai International and learn for yourself. There are no rules - just chant every day.....That's about it really!
kokoshmusun, I am investigating Nichiren and trust me I feel the same way. I practiced Islam for 7 years and was very close minded. Now I am open and dont want to be closed. It seems Nichiren is focused a lot of the chanting and practice. Not very rigid in rules

Your previous comment appears to have no connection. I'd like to see an elaboration. According to my understanding, I find it agreeable that Makiguchi died in prison because of a religious protest (that was his sentence and refused to waver in his beliefs), however if you consider the "why" he was sentenced, it was in opposition to the militaristic beliefs of the state. He said that the destruction of a single Buddhist sect is nothing compared to the destruction of a whole country.
The observer of anything or nothing is not in space and not in time. It is total FREEDOM. And this is what you are. You are not a body, not a person, not a mind. WHO AM I? Contemplate on this question. The most important question. Solve it and suffering is gone forever.
These words are very powerfull chant for world peace chant for the weapons of mass destruction to be destroyed, I wish the sects would get back together we realy need them right now.
This video has truly helped me as of late. I've been chanting for 2 months, and received Gohonzon on Jul 10. I've not been chanting like I should..and I've seen my fundamental darkness coming through, and this video has given me the kick in the pants that I needed to start chanting again.

To ignore this basic spiritial fact means you are fudamentally IGNORant and you live your life asleep at the wheel. That's what I love about this practice.
Please research the sgi website to see for yourself what the negative media has been. as I said before all of it has been unproved in court. Magazines sell really well by telling rumors.

i believe SGI is the mayahana, the greatest most accessible way for people to practice this buddhism....we should not concern ourselves in the politics of the organizations...just continue practicing with determination of constant victory in our lives......
The mantra is absolutely amazing...I practice it for two years and feel great very quiet and happy, with my preferences with Soka Gakkai members and especially its president he is great. Do more research SGI is the better group as far as I am concerned that uses this mantra

The "Encouraging Devotion" chapter of the Lotus Sutra teaches us that by practicing this Buddhism, arrogant priests & monks would slander us. This tells us we are on the right path. Does SGI have shortcommings? Sure. They believe Nam myoho renge kyo to be the only way to enlightenment. I dont believe in any 1 way, but I do believe it is the easiest and most direct route for the masses to attain enlightenment, and no orginization has had a bigger impact in spreading NMRK than the SGI.
As for pres Ikeda he is a champion of peace, with over 200 honorary doctorates from aroung the globe. He is honored by the legacies of both Martin Luther King Jr & Ghandi.
See the "Ghandi - King - Ikeda videos I'm about to add to my favorites. I cahnt NMRK because it works for me. The SGI is a wonderful orginization, despite both the outer attacks, and the inner "spiritual cheerleading". I know because I was on the outer fringes for over 10 yrs before fully accepting faith. There are in my opinion multiple Ways, or Paths that lead to the same place, but Nam myoho renge kyo is the Highway, SGI is the bus, and Pres Ikeda is the driver. get on board if you like ;-)
i am a sgi member and i have researched some of the controversy, apparently there were many accusations, all of which were found in court to be allegations. as far as I have researched.

All I can honestly say is...it works, period. Brings balance, peace into your life. Some things just can't be explained, but expiriance is important.

We are so fortunate to have such an amazing example of how to practice as Nichiren Daishonin. He was a fearless, tireless, warrior for truth and justice. There was not ONE SWORD on the island of Japan that could kill him, but many who tried.
I am so thankful to have encountered this practice.

I dont believe in censorship so I let it run it's course untill the individual proved he was just here to dispariage the practice. I believe in dialouge, and am not trying to convert anyone. This person has now been blocked.

Your previous comment appears to have no connection. I'd like to see an elaboration. According to my understanding, I find it agreeable that Makiguchi died in prison because of a religious protest (that was his sentence and refused to waver in his beliefs), however if you consider the "why" he was sentenced, it was in opposition to the militaristic beliefs of the state. He said that the destruction of a single Buddhist sect is nothing compared to the destruction of a whole country.

This video has truly helped me as of late. I've been chanting for 2 months, and received Gohonzon on Jul 10. I've not been chanting like I should..and I've seen my fundamental darkness coming through, and this video has given me the kick in the pants that I needed to start chanting again.

Thank you for uploading the videos. It is a very nicely done video. I am a practitioneer for almost 2 years now. Before this i am a devotee of the Dhamma Buddha, but i figure out this religion is better due to the teachings.

i believe SGI is the mayahana, the greatest most accessible way for people to practice this buddhism....we should not concern ourselves in the politics of the organizations...just continue practicing with determination of constant victory in our lives......

The mantra is absolutely amazing...I practice it for two years and feel great very quiet and happy, with my preferences with Soka Gakkai members and especially its president he is great. Do more research SGI is the better group as far as I am concerned that uses this mantra

The "Encouraging Devotion" chapter of the Lotus Sutra teaches us that by practicing this Buddhism, arrogant priests & monks would slander us. This tells us we are on the right path. Does SGI have shortcommings? Sure. They believe Nam myoho renge kyo to be the only way to enlightenment. I dont believe in any 1 way, but I do believe it is the easiest and most direct route for the masses to attain enlightenment, and no orginization has had a bigger impact in spreading NMRK than the SGI.

As for pres Ikeda he is a champion of peace, with over 200 honorary doctorates from aroung the globe. He is honored by the legacies of both Martin Luther King Jr & Ghandi.

See the "Ghandi - King - Ikeda videos I'm about to add to my favorites. I cahnt NMRK because it works for me. The SGI is a wonderful orginization, despite both the outer attacks, and the inner "spiritual cheerleading". I know because I was on the outer fringes for over 10 yrs before fully accepting faith. There are in my opinion multiple Ways, or Paths that lead to the same place, but Nam myoho renge kyo is the Highway, SGI is the bus, and Pres Ikeda is the driver. get on board if you like ;-)
