i tried it, but it didn't work out so good as he did, i was able to shoot the ball, but not hard, and there was a sort of small explosion, so i don't recommend it to do, but its ur own choise ofcourse!:P (you can use any tape, and axe or hairspray works fine)

@TomatoheadFilms Wrong.... -.-; Learn2science. He sprayed the inside with a flammable substance (body spray, lube, something) and that thing he put int he back was the igniter. When he turned it on, it burned the gasses, they were compressed behind the ball, shot the ball, and the flash came out (like a real gun)

Hey good job. Try changing the paper towel tube into pvc and then end  a pvc cap. try using more hairspray and drill a hole in the pingpong ball and fill it with plaster paris... that hurts worse than this. but for household items good job :)

Right Guard spray deodorant is probably the best propellant that's still reasonably safe and cheap that I've found in my years of experimentation with combustion type potato cannons. And it doesn't leave an awful sticky residue like hairspray does.
