I own two female cats, natural, non-fixed. It is a problem - behaviour, health etc. But I saw some fixed female cats - and I didn't like it: they grow fat, very-very fat, become slow and angry. So, I prefer meows some times and some times kittens. Now we are thinking of getting a male cat for a day to make more kitties, because it is necessary for female cats' health.

I know why Sparta is eating from the sink. It's because Sparta has been sleeping there for quite q while, so he wants to eat there becuase he thinks it's the safest place to eat because nothing bad ever happened (correct me if i'm wrong) for a long time.

Yes on the neutering (Sorry, Sparta!). Most intact male cats will start to spray and if you wait too long the behavior is not always reversed after the surgery. Studies also show that male cats who have been neutered have a lower risk of developing cancer when they are older. Not to mention how he may destroy your house if an in heat female cat is anywhere in the vicinity.

would using a lemon scented soap (hand or dish) help? (since you're going to be using soap at the sink anyhow) Is it the smell of lemon, the taste, or both, that cats don't like? And does that go for all citrus? (I have mango-"mandrin" scented hand lotion that I stopped wearing around my cats, after reading various posts suggesting lemon as a cat deterent.)

We got my cat nuetered and he is the only cat that lices in our house/property. He started spraying, even though he was the only cat. When we moved, we got him neutered. But that visit was probably really hard on him. Because he got neutered AND declawed in the day. He had to stay overnight at the vets. He wasn't allowed to jump around for a while. We had to put shredded newspaper in his box so his paws wouldn't hurt. But that's because we got him declawed. We also got him neutered.

My cat was like that before the incident. His name was Edd. We rescued him. He was an outdoor cat. We got his shots and stuff for him. Then about a month ago the fox that hangs around our neighborhood got him. He was half eaten alive. His grave is in the neighbors yard were the fox left him. He was a LOT like Sparta. Cats generally start spraying within the first year and once they start spraying then it's with them for life. Not all cats continue to spray after they have been fixed so if you don't want to really...do that to your cat then have the little spray sack removed instead^.^ FYI if there are any cats in the neighborhood that may come around the house, he may start spraying even though they never end up inside.
