  • more Nukes pls

  • The worst thing i've witnessed in my life is from 0:44 to 0:45. "The wiping out of human civilisation" and nobody reacts AT ALL. It just goes to show that we kind of accept that nuclear weapons could very easily wipe us out, and nobody does a thing about it.

  • umm why did that dude say with a smile on his face that obama's roots are in various parts of the world. 2:08 to 2:16 wtf

  • IMO A country with no nuclear weapons, is just an utopia in these day and age full of danger and insecurity, it does not have a voice, and is not a secure country if the going gets tough. It can always be blackmailed into submission and surrender by existing nuclear powers, if need be.

  • In world full of wolves, who want to be the sheep 1st?

  • U.S.A!

  • although i understand the argument for disarmament, in reality, it's never going to happen. No one wants nuclear disarmament considering the loss of security in their country against other nations.

what if all the nations but one disarmed?

come on now, no one is going to disarm.

although it'd be nice if there were no weapons, human nature won't allow absolute peace.

  • Ok. Like anyone cares.

  • Take a note from Gundam and bring in Nuclear jammers hoho.

  • Ron Paul is the real peace candidate

  • The problem isn't to get rid of it all. Humans will be humans and if you don't have a nuke, someone else will. The problem is the people wanting/having them. Obviously you can't negotiate with terrorists and "temptation" doesn't exist as a nation will want it just to say they have it. As they always have been.

  • Britain does not make policy for America. Stick to your own 'empire'.

  • we're speaking about nukes, which are GLOBALLY relevant.

  • your point is a little abstract - people aren't going to be able to make children if the earth is destroyed because surely we'd be destroyed alongside the planet...

    x

  • About time countries put their differences aside and come under one flag, i think, so no wars. We're coming further along in technology now. With wars, there'll be no planet soon. With no planet, they're kids are gonna suffer being unable to breathe in space for abt 50 secs. And then just float off...

  • NWO new world order, rise of the antichrist.

I think one flag is a bad idea.

  • The majority of the world laugh at the idea of an "antichrist" (which is specifically a christian view, and a nutty one at that), and the NWO? Isn't that conspiracy just a little cliche?

  • lol, i wasn't being serious. But isn't it a possibility considering history. C'mon think about it, there are people in this world who have a mind to make this happen.

  • Sorry, there are quite a few nutty people that I came across that day on YT and I thought you were another of them (see some of these YT UFO vids; there are people that believe both of those theories at the same time and throw aliens in the bunch of conspiracy).

As with almost ever conspiracy, it is possible though not very plausible and there is a total lack of evidence. IOW, I wouldn't count on it.

  • I don't think people are nutty because they believe that people on earth are not the only beings in existence in the entire universe. I think the people who don't, are the real nut cases.

    What is IOW?

  • You fail to see the problem is that you take it as fact without evidence. People believe all sorts of things: the truthers think 9/11 was a conspiracy by the government and that everyone that disagrees with their views are "crazy", for example.

Do I think there is nobody visiting us? No. Do I think they are visiting? No. Why? Lack of evidence for either way of thinking.

Grow up, please; our world is becoming more like what was portrayed in Idiocracy every day...

  • Grow up? You got to be kidding me! Just because i am open minded?!! Do not mistake that for being an idiot! How dare you compare me to a movie anyway? If ppl thought like you, our world would have been killed 9 times over with war of every kind.

  • There is a big difference between "open mindedness" and "gullibility". Being open minded allows one to be able to readily accept new facts, while gullibility is the quality of taking things as fact without good, sound reasoning. You're leaning toward the latter on this issue, believing in something that may or may not be true as completely true.

Also, "How dare you compare me to a movie anyway" isn't a question, Mr. "Frito's great^48th grandpa". And don't take yourself so serious. Seriously.

  • You can't call someone gullible, unless you know them personally.

  • OMFG... you acknowledged that you take things as true without proof already. Done talking now...

  • I said i keep an open mind dumbass, don't put words into my mouth.

  • Stop saying done talking now if your going to keep replying. I said open minded, not i believe everything is true before proven false. Are we in court or something? wtf

  • war will never end..bear to your mind that guyz..

  • Now we have the knowledge of nuclear bombs we can't disarm as there will always be the potential for someone else to build one. There's no turning back now. Only lesson we can learn from this is not to let scientists go down the road to discover something worse.

  • I disagree. Nuclear weapons have always been a deterant and never an actively used weapon, exept for two ocations. I agree with Dr. Blix that we should continue to dismantle the worlds nuclear arsenal for the security of all man kind. If the big nuclear powers like USA, Russia ect can set an example for the rest of the world, then we would all be a little bit safer.

And for making bigger bombs, Im sure they will eventualy. An matter/antimatter bomb for example would dwarf any current nukes.

  • They wont disarm though, you'll see.

  • ohh I agree, they woulnt want to and will most likely allways have , at least, a small tactical arsenal left(until a bigger bomb is invented).

But from what is stated in this video it looks like they are at least reducing there nuclear stockpile and that is something I think we can agree is a good thing.

  • True to that. Antimatter may potentially be a long way down the road to weaponry, but it would quickly make nukes "last year's" technology.

It also would revolutionize the space industry... Funny how some weapons technology can revolutionize the peaceful world, and vise versa.

  • And there's the rub. The military will always want more powerful weapons. There will always be plenty of scientists and engineers to develop them. From the first time a stick was used to smack an opponent, homo sapiens have always needed to find a bigger stick.

  • Exactly and there's no way were gonna give our bigger sticks away.

  • Yes, this is such an important issue. Why isn't the world talking about his more!

  • India uses nuclear power as a tool to threaten its enemies... not to use them but to intimidate . Other countries such as USSR or USA will use them... Either way... all countries end up using them. Were all stuck in a cage... And what happens in the cage when food runs out ? (OIL to be specific)...? We eat each other... because our human instincts kick in and we don't think of our actions... rather just execute them for sake of survival... or dominance in another case...

    John.

  • In a worst case senario I agree with you. Nations could start flinging nukes around them to protect them self. But that would mean that they themself would be prime targets for a nuclear retaliation. I think, and hope, that no nation would be so bloody stupid.

  • There will be no disarmament, instead those nations capable of developing such weapons will do so if they have security issues or feel the current nuclear powers may pose a threat. Get used to LOTS of nuclear weapons states, and non-state actors acquiring them too.

  • If I had a chance to survive at the expense of everyone else's death (innocent or otherwise) I wouldn't take it because I would rather die than stoop as low as to solve a problem with violence. We need to assume responsibility of everyone's lives and other nonhuman life and be the bigger man and drop our fucking guns.

  • History is also where people are first exposed to the reasoning behind racism. Speculation spawns from lessons of abusive races attacking another and instills a sense of mistrust towards those people in general and in turn segregates people for generations. Stupid people only need to learn to think for themselves and get over their paranoia. When the whole fucking world is at risk, you need to realize your "defensive weapons" aren't worth it.

  • Too politically driven.

Nukes would be the best to use for blowing up asteroids.

  • Ye Gods, I'm really starting to hate "Armageddon"...and Jerry Bruckheimer in particular.

  • Not necessarily. Nuclear explosions tend to have nasty side affects that you wouldn't want even against an asteroid. There are far better ideas in the works for asteroid defense. Not all of them require "blowing it up"

  • But it is an option we should consider also I forgot to mention another use. They could potentially be used to stop hurricanes.

I really think we should look into this option. And weigh the side effects of the nuke out at sea vs the destruction on land.

For a big enough explosion a nuke is the best answer. Fall out may not be as bad as one would think.

  • Really? Fallout may not be as bad? Consider this. Chernobyl's meltdown sent tons of radioactive material into the atmosphere that was circulated all over the northern atmosphere. Imagine the widespread distribution a hurricane would have on radioactive materials. The ocean would be a wasteland, the skies would carry it to surrounding countries, and the whole purpose of the hurricane in the first place was just defeated. Hurricanes are a natural and necessary phenomena in our atmosphere.

  • Your comparing a uranium power plant to a hydrogen bomb? It is not the same.

  • Not comparing, but using an example. Fallout is dangerous and with added wind currents, you're only asking for trouble. Not to mention, testing out at sea is very bad for the environment.

  • lol im sorry but do people really think that if some of the super powers gave up there nukes developing countrys would'nt want to have them?!?!?! Tell that to China & what about Iran, infact no country would ever give up there bombs ever. Its one big game of russian roulette & ever ones got a gun to somebodys eles head!

  • It's rather a mexican standoff. Russian roulette would mean that the US and Russia are taking turns in shooting missiles at their own captials, hoping it won't explode. Which again would be an interesting way to solve the whole problem.

  • lol :D either one were all doomed :P ah well least will all go out in a bang!

  • Ban the Fucking Bomb.

XVX for life. R.A.S.H. 'til death.

  • was not allowed to finish.....hmmmmmm who did not let him finish....hmmmmmm the plot has thicken and know one is complaining HA HA HA HA

  • blix dont know shix

  • sorry only the patricians know the truth about ANY AND ALL OF THIS STUFF thank you very much Obummer and CREATON do not know about this sufff!!!!!so leave them out as for Obummer he seems to be alright if you are sittting next to him having a beer and just blithering samething with villamugroso the mayor of LOS ANGELES

  • they aint ever going to get rid of nuclear weapons and then more destructive methods of wiping humans out will come along and and it will go on the sooner dumb monkeys get wiped off this planet i am sure some other life form will take over, but then natural instincts will kick in and wars will begin again its nature. This is probably why we have not yet made first contact after all if we deiscovered a world of village idiots fighting over their land we wouldnt just pop in to say hello would we?

  • Hans, Hans, Hans! We've been frew this a dozen times. I don't have any weapons of mass destwuction, OK Hans?

  • I'm afraid that this issue is a dead duck. There are a lot more countries with the bomb now. Which one of India and Pakistan is going to be the first to "drop their guard". Their cold war has only just begun. Who's going to persuade the Israeli's to dump theirs?

I would like to see them all "disappear" as Blix espouses but it aint gonna happen is it?

I believe this is a diversion from achievable goals.

  • Pay attention to his last statement.

  • Kim Jong Il: OHHH NO, Hans Blix?!

  • Yeah, like N.Korea's the only small state with N.weapons (or rather atomic). Isreal has hundreds - thousands of MODERN nukes - nobody ever questions this.

  • Hans you got it right all right again its all gonna blow up in our faces quite literaly when the shit hits the fan one day soon huh

  • Your right mate unfortunately

  • The future of global politics is indeed in our hands

  • Global disarmament is a pre-requisite for our continued existance in this universe, as well as the concious evolution of the human race.

YES, it's time for a revival!

    Peace

  • It just doesnt make any sense at all.

Great to see Hans Blix again.
