@SuperElmoHunter yeah i get that, but...isn't it ovbious?! it seems pointless.. it's like making a tutorial video about walking "how to walk, step by step"
actually almost all tutorial vidoes about drawing are pointless (i'm not saying this only for you..actually i'd like to say it to all)
a drawer knows most of those things and not because he learned it somewhere...it's because is logical or because he discovered it
and non drawer don't need it because...well they can't draw!
@LE0NSKA But some people find this video helpful. It helped me. And you say 'a drawer knows most of these things because they learnt it somewhere', well this is where I learnt it.
@LE0NSKA Neither does it need more people who can't be bothered to use proper grammar when they're trying to make themselves sound smart.
What you are saying is that real artists don't have to be taught their skills. Is that right? Because if that's what you're saying then you probably are not that great of an artist yourself. Imagine if you had to teach yourself to do algebra or how to spell. Nobody just magically knows these things from birth and the same applies to art.
@risskygambit yeah im sorry for my horrible english..but i never learned it properly .. (i dont live in england or usa or whatever) and it's certainly not my birthlanguage
hmm no not realy... i'd say they do have to learn some techniques BUT not this kind of technique...its not even a real technique...it's all logical... you would do this by yoursel if you would think about it for two seconds
oh and your algebra comparison is stupid ...those things are controlled by different parts of the brain
and no.. i'm not a good artist... i never said otherwise ..im just "eh" ...but still i managed to figure that linethingytutorial all by myself out when i was at the age of 8 or maybe 10
so if you're ...let's say 16+ and you haven't figured that out or at least something similar...then you should just stop drawing and painting and stuff...do something else
@666crackhure666 for porn? Are you fucking stupid? Holy shit grow up!! Its called nude studies, you can only see her breasts and part of her butt, shes not fucking spread eagle. What are you 12?
@666crackhure666 excuse me but sarcasm doesn't translate good over text since there are people who actually think like this. a just kidding would've been acceptable
@serajstyle the same idea applies, that's not really the subject of the lesson but even when you're making things big, if you don't know how to find your alignments you could be messing up your proportions if you're searching specifically for how to make things larger then try youtubing the graph style.
it's much more valid to use guidelines when you draw a model LARGER than it's original size. when the dimensions are different it really becomes important to have some guidelines so resizing the image in your mind becomes more clear.
when it's the same size you can place the image very very close, or even underneath the paper for general guidelines.
it's not cheating by any means. People use projectors as their guidelines. but if you use methods as you show here, it's more valid in large.
When you introduced the "containment system" a couple vids back, i was like wtf?!? But now im seeing the benefit of it. Thanks. I'll try this technique the next time i draw from a ref photo! :D
These tutorials are great and it feels like I really could benefit from using these techniques. There's a lot of drawing "turorials" on the net, and sometimes I watch them to see what they teach (or sometimes they do the opposit, so that's fun too), but these are some of those that I really feel I get something out of. Will definitely try it out. Thank you!
this video was really helpful! thanks!

proportion is what i have the most trouble with, at least thats why i think all my faces and poses look wonky. or just extremely ugly.
PerpetualJoy 3 weeks ago
When I draw I do almost the exact same thing. Plus measure with my fingers.

Can you draw us a figure from scratch? All your videos show half finished drawings that we never see progress.

Dont understand what u try to teach, my english is so poor, but the stekth have hard proportions errors.

oh..ups.. i actually meant learned by himself not somewhere...was little late so i just used the wrong word..sry for that

@LE0NSKA This is a technique that he learned himself and wants to show to others to try and improve their skills. Whats wrong with that?

@LE0NSKA You dont have to learn everything by yourself for you to be a proper artist, learning by other people is part of life and art.

great tip... do you just carbon trace over the rough draft when you move to the final version or do you start from scratch?
