From what Dublindrunk said, I'd have to say it probably risks burning the valves. A factory turbo engine with sodium filled valves will be more resistant to this but it's still pretty risky. Plus when the overheated turbo eventually grinds metal and catches your entire car on fire, that would be considered "dangerous"

anti lag is controled by the ecu...basically when the car comes off boost the ecu will tell the car to inject fuel into the cylinders it will also retard the timing so the when the exhaust valve opens the fuel will combust..this will spin the turbo to produce boost when the car is not under load...so no more turbo lag

@dublindrunk anti-lag is also tremendously damaging to the exhaust valves, manifold, turbo and exhaust system with repeated use..... i've cracked manifolds, burned valves, cracked welds on exhaust piping, and ate several turbos with anti-lag..... it may be awesome, but you also pay a hefty price if you show off with it

@xEmerzon Whilst it doesn't increase top speed, the fuel is igniting in the turbo thus keeping it spooled up and maintaing boost pressure. When the car then accelerates, there is no time delay (lag) and so it can reach it's top speed faster than the same car without ALS - HTH!

i guess im behind the times, but thats a 2 step launch control, just cutting off the firing timing, keeping the RPM's at a certain RPM. which causes the fuel to build up so when the 2 step allows it to fire, it ignites more fuel than normal, so it pops. it has nothing to do with turbo's, all motor cars can have a 2 step.
