  • "Alright, okay. Really great to see you down in New Orleans. Yeah, yeah, hairy."

That's Wolfman Jack. The same guy in the Guess Who song Clap For the Wolfman.

  • I agree. The voice sounds very much like Wolfman Jack (speaking in soft tone). The time period makes sense too but I am still unsure..

  • 2 people did not listen to what the man said.

  • **W*I*N*G*S***is such an underrated band. Lovely Linda's were always such a joy:) Love ya always Linda, a veggie and a lifelong stoner:)

  • What I love about this song is those last 7 to 8 compasses. Beautiful.

  • I don't even have the words to express how I feel about Paul McCartney, and the Beatles for that matter. They are poets and musicians, and I am thankful that I have ears that can hear them ~

  • Who is that man who keeps mumbling before the song?

  • @chezzeeX its macartney

  • That would be a good man, wouldn 't it....:) the wonder of it all.....

  • Ive been really into Wings for a few months now, ever since I was able to find Ninteen Hundred and Eighty Five on Youtube. Never realized how many great songs Wings had. While Paul seems to get a lot credit for these songs success ( rightfully so), I think the instrument playing was also a huge part of their success. Particularly in this song, the instrument playing in the back ( I dont know what it is) really complements the singing. By the way, I like the way the video fits with the song.

  • I grew up with this song.

  • the last thirty seconds of this song is some of the best sh#* ever

  • happy song

  • Fimballs good job on the video man, I like how you appreciate wings and I liked the picture you had of Denny Lane and Jimmy Mculock, R.I.P. Jimmy, I have been a massive wings fan for 5 years now I love them

  • Fucking love Mcartney

  • YAY!

  • this is an awesome song! I LOVE PAUL and THIS SONG! Even tho im only in my teens, i still love this song and him. GO PAUL!!!

  • this song is a true classic that PAUL MCCARTNEY man rock and roll

  • @eight589 some credit needs to be given to denny laine for this!

  • "soldier boy, kisses girl, leaves behind a tragic world...but he won't mind, he's in love and he says love is fine....." does anybody else see a parallel to these lyrics with our present day? i'm so disturbed at the lack of progress we've made.

  • @Boredin81 Sort of...that line made me think of my former fiance. (usmc)

  • wtf the stupid guy in the beginning pisses the shit out of me

  • @adelholz i think the guy who is talking at the start is the famous dj "wolfman jack" . he was a 60" 70" 80" icon.

  • this song is strangely positive despite the lyrics " listen to what the man says" is not the greatest advice at present.... who was Paul talking about when he wrote this? or was it a general term? this is why I am up at 4am

  • God I love the ending of this song!!!!!!!

  • I love the beginning too!

  • Was that Beavis in the beginning?

  • @stahalaep Nah, probably Butt-Head. lol

  • "The wonder of it all, baby"

  • your a goof

  • dude what? even if that was sarcasm. wtf? i would never say that about him. hes a music genius and probably one of the most recognized voices of all music.

  • the 70's still has a special place in all our hearts. even those of us who werent around for that decade! the music lives on. and even when im older it will.

  • i have to say to all who say that the 70's are so long ago. Man let me tell you. a lot of teens still listen to this music. hence why im on this video.

  • I totally agree!!

  • and it goes dududu dudu dududu:)

  • dose not seem like these songs should be over 30 years old boy 'O boy time flies

  • Right, I remember being a 5 yr old and hearing this on the radio in '70s. Wow! Were the '70s that long ago? OMG!

  • Uno de sus mejores temas, creo que la primera mitad de los 70 (igual que varios) fue su mejor época

  • I love this band!!

Instantly takes me back to the 70's when I was a kid.For some reason this song reminds me of a rainy summer day,as most Mcartney and Wings music does.

  • Well I don't know but I say love is kind

  • First heard "Listen" at a popular lounge on a beautiful Friday afternoon in the spring of '76 when all the "beautiful people" of Modesto came in after work. It was one of those days when everything seemed beautiful, I was old enough to appreciate it (37) and young enough to do something about it, but I was a stranger in town. Wound up harmonizing w/Dean In "Li'l Ol' Wine-drinker, Me."

  • McCartney's Masterpiece

  • 13 years old waited outside th eKingdome in Seattle 8 hours to get seats for Wings. Wings over America june 10 1976. Just like yesterday. What a privilage..

  • Yes Paul's concert in Seattle 1976 was rather a watershed. People began to realize Paul's talents far transcended the Beatles. What a PRIVILEDGE to have been there Johng1962

  • exelente canciòn, creo que Paul tuvo sus mayores èxitos con el grupo wings

  • GREW UP WITH PAUL McCARTNEY, SUCH A GREAT SONG-WRITER AND ARTIST. WOULD LOVE TO MEET HIM!

  • And beautiful "Linda," who was the second half of Paul's soul, was taken from him.

  • Of all the songs the fab four recorded as soloists, "Listen to what the man said" was the greatest one of them all by Paul McCartney. And I'll take it one step further by stating this song was even better than everything the Beatles recorded together as a group.

But it was`75! That's correct, the year was "1975!" The greatest year in rock and roll's illustrious history. And for those of us who understand, this music will live in infamy forevermore within our hearts, minds, and souls!

  • Your heart, the 80's was a renaissance for music ALL GLORY TO THE 80'S go ahead spam me for saying it I don't care.

  • WINGS WINGS WINGS

  • turn te lights of on earth day

  • This song was on the radio when i was or7 yrs old and we were going to the funeral of an uncle- the first i went to- and i first realized i was black-my mom is italian ,cherokee and my dad is black and i realized i looked like my dad not like my mom or brother-it was weird

  • hey

this song was released on May 16, 1975. If the funeral was sometime after that date,, then youll be correct on the timeline.

  • Mr.johnson323,...No matter what color you are, you are beloved in the eyes of God. He was the one who created all of us, for his good will and purposes only.

  • @70sPopRock - and with that said i'm a black guy and i rock this joint in the hood- Good Music is Good Music Case closed

  • Always love to hear this- great, uplifting tune!

  • If you can find love that is kind, your'e doing .. just fine.

  • What The MAN sAYS

  • i love this song so much. but silly love songs are better.

  • I agree to every you think Daniedogs!!!

  • Paul is da man!!!! LOVE this song! thanks again for sharing Randy ;-)

  • Nice video

    but the images are reapited

  • love this song!!!

  • Awesome, beautiful!!!!!

  • Love this song. I remember reading or listening to an interview with John circa 77-79 thereabouts and he mentioned this and a couple other solo Paul songs. John said 'what the hell is he talking about?' lol.

  • Paul is a fantastic entertainer. John was a brilliant lyricist. As a team, they were unstoppable, as evidenced by the longetivy of their popularity, and how their music has spanned generations!

My children love them, my nephew, who is only 2 years old sings along with many Beatle's songs. It amazes me.

    They'll live forever :)

  • this song must have inspired Milkys just the way you are although I dont think its a direct sample. Both cool songs IMO. as they say you learn something new evreyday

  • stop listening to this!! that peg leg bitch might be getting some kind of payouts for his music!! LOL

  • this shit is knoccing

  • So Sad thaa paul lost his true love Linda to cancer!!! I love this song always have and will. RIP LINDA Mc Cartnet

  • Love the groove in this song.

  • i love this song it came out in 75", wow i was like 6 months old, who does the sax??

  • Tom Scott played soprano saxaphone on "Listen What the Man Said" in 1975.

  • Who is "The Man," and what is he saying?

  • I also admire the way the man has carried himself through all the nasty nonsense that's been written and the stuff that hag put him through. Long live the lovely Linda. And next time dear boy, listen to your daughter a little.

  • Gotta love Macca. A creative talent unsurpassed. I think he gets the knock amiss that he is simply a craftsman as opposed to being an inspired artist. That's rubbish. Paul's songs are very inspiring, this is a fave post Beatle song for me. The wonder of it all baby, yeah yeah yeah!

  • I agree completely. How could anyone call the driving force behind Sgt. Pepper uninspired?

  • WRITE ON THE MONEY BLOKE!

it truly "is the wonder of it all"

  • .........I first heard this song back in

    1975 when I was 5 going on 6,great song.

  • I do, James. I have a Paul McCartney greatest hits CD. That song is included.

  • an excellent song,no doubt

  • What a great song. The 8 note riff is one of the catchiest hooks Paul (or anyone) ever came up with. The clarinet solo is great, the rhythm is relentlessly hypnotic, then when you think the song couldn't get any better... "The wonder of it all baby (x3) yeah yeah yeah...." and finally the strings & clarinet close it out with one of the best endings you could ask for. Bravo Paul!

  • ♩♫♩♫♫♩♩

  • Is that Dave Mason on guitar?

  • I'm sure that Paul missis Lydia so much!

  • I was too young for the Beatles BUT I DID LOVE the Wings! I've still got their stuff on cassette....How time flies...Listening to this stuff makes me feel young again!!!Nnek@ ;o)

  • I fell 13 Again!!!! ;o) with periods and all *lol*

  • yes. the summer of 1975 from venus and mars album. classic. ranks as favorite slow songs by wings along with uncle albert admiral halsey, let em in,and mull of kyntyre.

  • That was it exactly ..SuMMER of 75!!!

    Awesome time!!

  • The voice in the intro belonged to the late Wolfman Jack, host of the Midnight Special.

Damn, this brings back some memories.

  • @elitiny Dr. John, mac Rebbanac

  • JEFF LYNNE!!!
