lmao damian666 got owned! curious coincidence was an exotic mix of eloquent melodies. so complex and pleasuring to my ear canal. it was like listening to very sexy chick with a voice of an angel talk to me about soccer, then proceeding to .....lets not get into it (hey its my version of heaven!)
Your advice is heresey in that Swedish people are biologically dispositioned to have poor pinky strength. In fact, it has been proven that Swedish peoplewill follow the evolutionary pattern to eliminate the pinky faster than the rest of the world. Your playing is justification of this in that you're not using it. What else would a Swedish person use their pinky for?
Don't know if it's been raised already...BUT the 1st question about the note dropping out on a bend is not entirely accurate (sorry Kristofer). If your guitar is not setup properly and your fret levels are out or there is a bad bend in the neck the notes will not fret properly and drop out. so it is NOT all about technique problems.
Thanks dude, your videos are the best at entertaining me/helping me practise harder and harder to become the best I can on guitar! Sometimes you just need that extra 'kick to go to the next step! Very impressed at musical talent and accuracy of knowledge. Great work!
In response to the first question it actually could be your guitar..I have seen that a few times. If you are bending fine on the other frets on that string and only having issues on that specific area then it probably is your guitar.
@MetalguitarlessonsUK What's the difference between technique and blaming the instrument? If it's your guitar i'm sure there are 24x6 other frets minus that ONE fret to practice and actually DO the lick and learn instead of sitting around complaining about it.
@jizm5150 sorry what? Is that in response to me? Reread my comment as it makes no sense in response to that..I was pointing out that sometimes yes an individual fret can be screwed, the way to tell is if you are bending fine on all of them but one particular fret then it probably is the guitar. How is that sitting around and complaining?! I was trying to help someone out, why such an agressive and pointless response? Check out the stuff on my profile and then tell me that I dont practice enough.
@jizm5150 Lol why on earth would you post such a bastardly comment in response to someone answering a dudes question? He was correct too, are you disputing that it is possible for one fret to go haywire and make bending on it impossible? Are you disputing that the best way to check that is to see if you are bending fine on the other frets? Jesus, the anonymity of the internet does funny things to some people turning them into agressive twats over ridiculous things.
@jizm5150 Furthermore listen to the playing on his profile, does that sound like someone who just complains about his instrument instead of practicing hard? (shakes head sadly) Did insulting someone and their playing on the internet make you feel big and more secure about yourself?
tabs... are more different i think. Faster to learn guitar, yes. you cannot read the sheet music, but some people like it more, i learned to play threw tabs, but i really do wish ilearned the notes first. but tabs are not really a "bad" way persay, its just quicker.
but when you learn from tabs you dont understand wat your playing, in sheet music you underestand the key signatures, wat key your playing in and you understand why they play the certain notes, but with tabs you just play them and you have no idea what your playing so eventually you wont be able to improvise... imo =D
Zero if you know your theory you can figure most of this out by yourself from looking at tabs without having it handed to you on a plate, I actually think it is better because you have to figure it out yourself, it gets the brain going and gets you used to quickly identifying the key you are in without being told. Makes soloing far easier further down the line.
Zero i think this guy's youtube lessons are for quick learning and people who are starting to picck up guitar who usually lack music theory so tabs would at least give them something to play. And im sure he teaches notes to his own students.
Kris, you're a great teacher you teach things from the basic level which seems that no one does.
I think that some guitars that are not set up well will fret out. When the guitar was "set up" it no longer fret out. So I do believe theres 2 things to troubleshoot.
A. The Player
B. The guitar.
Anyways, this video was excellent as all of your videos!
It'd be cool if you did like a "lick of the week" type thing. Because each lick you have taught in your vids, I still apply to my playing. Good vids man!
Hi Kris...love the lesson, they've really helped me out. I just wanted to know what type of strat is that and what are the pickups...because you get such a sweet tone when you where playing the Steve Vai solo. Thanks!
If you use one finger less then EVERYBODY else playing solos; what do you think?
If your just lazy, then get a grip and practise!
If it's for medical reasons, then (as you should have already noticed sine you use your pinky alot when just doin chords to) you should probobly come to terms with the fact that some things will always be harder for you. But I bet there's still a bunch of things you can play if you'r determined, inventive, and practise.
Well you can certainly become a very fulfilled soloist without using your pinky.
However you see some of your favorite guitarists using their pinky - and you know you want to be able to play similar stuff, well...you are making it unnecessary hard for yourself!
Hey Kris, I love all your videos they been an excellent help! But as I've gotten more into songwriting I often have trouble writing my own solos, do you have any tips on phrasing?
nice to see youve posted again kris. i have this problem with my guitar, i think the truss rod is stuck, im trying to adjust the action on my 2 month old guitar. any ideas? can you also please please do a lesson on sweep picking. thanks. Godbless
Thanks Jazgara, unfortunately I can't help you as I have never dared adjusting the truss rod myself...so the only advice I can give is to take it to a professional.

But, why scalloping? It's easier to play, to bend? Great vids Kristofer
112358miau 2 years ago
Thanks Miau!
Scalloping has the same effect as reeeally high frets. It makes it easier to get a very strong hammer-on notes (and thereby improves the tone of my speed runs) - because your left hand finger isn't "stopped" by the fretboard when hammering.
Also - scalloping allows for friction free bending!

ho to prevent ur guitar strings from rusting???

You can wipe them with a cloth after your practice session!
KristoferDahl 2 years ago
Your strings should be changed every 6 to 8 weeks. Even more often if you're using .008 or .007s. After that, they're dead, the harmonics are gone. Also, wipe your instrument down after use.
