  • Its not a banjo its a banjitar, if it was a banjo it would have a tuner half way down the neck like most all the banjos you see.

  • B E A UTIFUL...

  • thats a Gitjo, 6 string standard tuned banjo, and or a guitar with a drum head set up.

  • In the real acoustic music world, thats not a banjo and she did not play a lead . If you want the definition of playing a real lead on a 5 string banjo as said earlier check out Steve Martin ,Sammy Shelor ,Terry Baucom ,Ben Eldridge ,go look these gentlemen up and and you will see what playing a lead and knowing how to play a banjo is really about. Better yet look up Cia Holymes and thats a young lady that is really playing a real banjo.

  • @atlanticgroove1 Cia Cherryholmes

  • It looks like a tenor banjo to me.

  • That wasn't a solo? Was struming a basic guitar chord while someone else solo'd. See Steve Martin you want to see a celebraty solo.

  • There's no accounting for taste but; I thought it was a lame performance as are all the others she has done.

  • @sloridemusic Agreed

  • 2 people and a banjo that's not actually a banjo. So neither a solo, nor a banjo at all. Nice title op, nice title.

  • I just wasted 24 seconds

  • Uh, it`s not a traditional banjo. Notice it has six strings. It is configured so that anone who lays guitar can play it the same way. Traditional banjos have 5 strings and are played very differently.

  • @telestrat060 Traditional banjos have four strings.

  • if you're going to post a song video post the whole damn song, stupid!

  • she is certainly not a folk musician

  • yuck.

  • wow thats just double hot, beauty and banjo skill

  • i dont care if she can play it she's still hot and has a good voice

  • @yagaboo2u hot yes. GOOD voice, but not great voice. I still am looking for her to break out of that "teenie" same ol song and dance stage and wow me with better skill. She's talented no doubt, but overrated with all these female artists she's out winning at Music Award Shows.

  • Reported on the grounds that this video supports terrorism. Because Taylor Swift with a whatever-the-fuck-you-call-that-thing is a terrifying thing.

  • nothing like /watch?v=rgPusukKlG4&feature=related

  • Earl scruggs would be pissed if he saw this

  • I don't care if she can't play banjo, she's still really hot.

  • It doesn't matter a damn what you call it ! The point here is that she obviously has no clue about what to do with it,how to play it or how to wear it.(ever watch her attempt 2 play guitar?)

And without a studio & all the modern recording devices, she sounds like shit !

  • I think the banjo is officially touching the floor. I would get a kink in my arm trying to fret it. Someone needs to teach Ms. Swift about how to hold instruments to avoid hurting herself.

  • There are lots of Banjo Tunings for 5 string. Open G is pretty common but there is also C tuning , Double C, Open C, Triple C, D Tuning, D Minor. Most of these are used in either Clawhammer or Bluegrass depending on the song. The C tuning is only one note different from the open G.

However, since this video uses a Guitar Banjo ( so named by Gibson) these are all moot points here.

  • I kept waiting for Kanye to come running out banging a stick on a trash can lid.

  • Not a solo and not a banjo.

  • @museblock Couldn't agree more. Title belies a Swift fan trying to attribute anything and everything to their favorite artist. A good SINGER Ms. Swift is, a good picker, she is NOT.

  • noam pikelny she is not

  • wasn't a solo.

  • Maybe try learning to play it, not posing with it like a designer purse.

  • ew

  • what a wannabe country music star! screw this poser! if you want REAL country, listen to waylon jennings, david allan coe, hank williams (SR/JR/III), willie nelson, johnny cash just to name a few.

if you want FAKE country, listen to kenny chesney, taylor swift, keith urban, eric church, carrie underwwod just to name a few

  • not a banjo...simply a guitar...much easier to play

  • THIS IS NOT A BANJO.

  • What's the matter with people, dissing this talented young lady? So she's not THE BEST at everything. She doesn't have to be, she's a fantastic entertainer and she writes her own songs. Versatile and lovely.

  • I'm sorry, but if you want a real banjo player, listen to someone like Steve Martin.

  • Sorry but anyone can strum a banjo. It takes talent to 3 finger pick. Stick to singing, Taylor.

  • Is it just me or are there two people playing that solo?

  • It's actually not a banjo, it's a banjitar - a guitar that's designed to look and sound like a banjo. She's still awesome though :) ~Mi@

  • @GuitarGirlMia And no, it's a banjo, not a "banjitar" there is no such thing.. Banjo's are tuned in open C so all you have to do is strum it open and it sounds like your playing it.

  • @SonicProvocateur Banjos are tuned to open G, not C. Also, that "banjo" has 6 strings, which means it is simply a guitar shaped like a banjo (which are sold at Guitar Center).

  • @SirAtticusCrow If you play clawhammer (real) banjo, its in C. I've worked in music retail all my life and that's how we tune all our banjos. It compliments the 5th of the A and D in most violin parts. Quit googling and learn from a real musician.

  • @SonicProvocateur - I find it shortsighted of you to openly declare that there is only one way to tune a banjo. Look in the liner notes of any Tony Trischka album and you will probably find at least three different tunings, if not more. When I first started learning about banjo, I was presented with no less than six potential tunings, depending on the key of the song. Also, if you're in music retail, perhaps you might know the purpose of a "Scruggs Tuner".

  • @SuperMonkeyCube Yeah, the original superfluous detuner. When I first started working in retail I got more complaints from players that the banjos weren't in C that they would just tune them up to G if they wanted so over the years I just tuned them to C. Same as standard versus drop D or D modal for guitar players. Banjos rarely come setup from the factory (to keep the bridge from being smashed, unlike guitars) but guitars have to be reintonated with drastic tuning changes.

  • @SonicProvocateur - Superfluous implies that they are unnecessary or unneeded. I am aware that changing tunings on a guitar usually requires them to be set up differently. The point that I was trying to make is that a multitude of tunings and being able to switch between them seems to be an integral part of the banjo experience, especially at the higher levels of the instrument, especially as compared to guitar.

  • @GuitarGirlMia I believe you mean a guit-jo.

  • its not plugged in?

  • taylor swift plays that banjuo like stephen hawkings walks.

  • @willC801 LMFAO! NO respect for the girl? Haha

  • You know a solo means one..... a that's pretty much a guitar

  • It's a banjitar but hey...

  • @muzician21 yeah exactly. now if she could play 5 string to the real banjo melody of the song... now that would be impressive...

  • @countrygal1674 I pointed it out though not necessarily busting on her. She writes good songs and makes some good music. She plays guitar better than I do.

  • Uh, that's a banjo...

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 oops

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 Uh, that's a ganjo...

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 Its a guitar neck on a banjo body.

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 Uh, no it's not. It's a banjotar. Shaped like a banjo, has six strings and is played like a guitar.

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 No it's not. It's a banjitar

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 no its not

  • @ThinkerGuy2222 actually, thats a lightsaber.
