  • I had really crooked teeth due to overcrowding. My family was too poor to get me braces when I was younger and I told myself once I had a job, I'm getting braces. It's the best decision of my life. I love my smile and having braces as an adult was so worth it! Go for it!

  • i'm 32, have really bad crowding, and i finally got my braces on aug. its been 2 months and i couldnt be happier I cant wait to have straight teeth i never smiled in pix and im over weight too but once my teeth are straight i will probably care about losing weight also, im wearing mine for about 18 months..i also had 4 wisdom teeth removed...

  • @DCupcake858 wow; it'll be great when you have your braces off and you start smiling in the photos. Good luck with your weight loss plan as well!! Best of luck!! :)

  • braces are fantastic! you will love your teeth after words!

i think you should do it! it boosts your self estime! i had them

for 3 years and i love my teeth now. the price well u pay for what you get.

  • I don't know if you ever got braces but let me tell you, Do it! I got braces as an adult and it was the best thing I ever did! It seems daunting at first because of how long they can be on, but you get used to them within the first week. Your actually lucky that your teeth aren't crowded, that should make the process MUCH faster! Please get them! you'll be so happy you did! I know I am!

  • braces now on?

  • DO ITTTTT! I had braces and tons of oral work done as a child, and therefore I have perfect teeth after several years and several thousands of dollars later. My husband, did not. We recently spent a few grand getting his mouth done and I have to say it has changed his life completely! He went from NEVER smiling to non stop smiling! Money is no object when you are unhappy with your teeth because your smile is one of the first things people see. Do this, it will ultimately change your life.

  • I encourage you to go for it. You have the rest of your life to enjoy. Why not enjoy it a beautiful smile and improved oral health. If I can do at 35 you can do it. It's really not all that bad. You are just sore after an adjustment for a few days but then back to normal. Excellent oral hygiene is a must with braces.

  • Go for it!

Trust me when I tell you that you will thank yourself! A smile is so important for you to be comfortable with. I had braces and it wasn't bad at all. I know that the orthodontist will work out a payment plan for you. Good luck and go for it!

  • My mother had both braces and an implant as an adult. She had an implant as one of her front teeth. Unfortunately, where they drill the post into the bone in the top jaw (maxible?), it got infected, so she had to have the implant removed. The only thing she could do was to get a bridge. A bridge is where a prosthetic tooth is adhered to each tooth beside it to form a "bridge." She's had that for many years and not a problem since.

  • and braces sonn ;) ?

  • LMFAO..... REPEAT 4:18 .... 10 TIMES. LMFAOOOOOOOO

  • Hey girl I am having the same thoughts about braces. I finally got a job w/ insurance so hopefully i can afford it! My teeth are VERY crowded and it keeps getting worse and I know the feeling about ALWAYS wanting a good smile.. I am worried about the pain and stuff, but I really want a good smile for once in my life! Good luck with getting your decision.

  • Aww im gettin braces too!! Love this vid :) Im in the process of my deep cleaning..and then im gettin braces!!

  • @HekeladRosenblum just DON'T forget to floss DAILY after your deep cleanings! I can't stress that enough! Otherwise it'll all be for not

  • @NNORMSS Thanks for the tip...I floss right now frequently and I know how much people stress the importance of that..the only thing im not lookin forward to is the tightening!!

  • I think you should do it! You know what, you could wear the braces to get the canines to shift over to the right place and then apply implants (your lateral anteriors). Is there a Dental school where you live? Because you could get implants at a reduced cost. Ortho is a reduced cost too...Where I work our ortho is $900.

  • i currently have braces.... I have had them since Feb 2010 and they are due to come out in Dec 2010... I got them to close the gaps in my teeth and to correct an over bite.... I have tricare prime and it did not cover it at all since I am a dependent older than 26 years of age. My experience with the braces has not been as bad as i thought... when i go get them tightened its not really that bad as some people will have to think. I say do it. I love the way my teeth are so far...

  • @95armygirl Yeah, I think it really sucks how Tricare puts an age cap on orthodontic work. Like adults are supposed to have perfect teeth already or like braces are only for kids. It's so messed up. Oh well. :-/

  • @kuuipo1207 :( i think you can get braces at any age..im just a lil sad my parents didnt get me them when i was younger..but i feel proud to come outta pocket at 26 and pay for it all on my own! lol

  • Implants ideally are the way to go BUT they can be VERY costly and it’s a long process. Most insurances don’t cover implants because even though they’ve been around for awhile they are considered “experimental”. The most cost effective and quickest way to get that “perfect” smile is going with porcelain veneers. It’s approximately a 3 ½ week process start to finish. You should look into it, it may be worth your while and insurance is more likely to cover them.

  • @NNORMSS Thanks for the tips. I'm really trying to research my different options, so this really helps me out! :)

  • LOL...ok, one more comment...before the insurance discount, the braces cost around $5000. We are paying $3250 for a two year treatment.

  • Oh, btw...she really likes having the braces, but hates when she gets tightened because she is sore for a few days after.

  • I have never had to have braces, but my daughter just got them. She actually had an extra "lateral" tooth that had to be removed before she got them. It was still below the gum line, but that tooth was the culprit for all the crowding in her mouth. Good luck to you!

  • ive had braces for a month, im 26, and theyre ok. i mean there has been a little pain but so far i have absolutely no regrets. if you hate your teeth stop hating them. get the braces you will not regret it. i need jaw surgery and one implant. the implant will cost more than the braces. i wish you the best.

  • i like your smile like it is, but I also think braces can make your smile much better :-D

  • i had the same thing only it was just one of those. so i had to get an inplant in and it's so much better! i dont feel self conscious anymore

  • @bsubassbaby2 oops i meant implant not inplant

  • cont....

initially was for 22 months... i ended up only wearing them for 13 months!!!! it was the best thing ever! i'm 29 now and everytime i look in the mirror and smile i feel amazing!

These braces yes are still metal but its so much more simpler then the original ones. 1st the actual brackets are smaller and second, as for the wires, there is no tugging or pulling..all they do every visit is take out ur old wire and put a new one in...best of all there was ZERO pain!!!! :) hope this helpd

  • Hey girlie...

ok, so i did have braces, as an adult.. my teeth were just flat out crooked ever since i was a kid all thru out middle school and high school.. i was always unhappy n self conscience abt it but was scared to go thru the process cuz of pain. it wasn't till i was 23 that i finallyyyyy got them and the experience was wonderful..i got Speed Braces, and its exactly that.. they're designed to speed up the process of what would have normally taken 3 maybe 4 yrs.. my entire treatment..

  • Hey,

I had a similar sort of situation with my teeth, the only difference being that only one of my upper lateral incisors grew in and the other one didn't.

The procedure that your dentist described (moving the canines back to make room for impants) is pretty much what I had done. I've yet to get the implant because I'm still in the process of growing, but I have a tooth bonded in between my central incisor and my canine tooth.

So far, so good. The process is pretty expensive though. Good luck

  • Ur teeth are fairly str8 except for the missing ones. See a dentist about cosmetic dentistry. U get immediate results, no braces plus you need too replace those 2 laterals anyway. U will have a much better outcome .Before you go thru braces see a cosmetic dentist. It will be cheaper too. If you get braces it will still be Thousands to replace those two laterals. I mas a dental asst for yrs. Look into it.

  • @MetalMouthJeff Thanks!! I hadn't even thought about cosmetic dentristy. :)

  • I had braces for 6 months to rotate one of my canines and my bottom 4 overlapped. The only time that braces sucked was when they tighten them which is once a month or 6 weeks and its only sore for a day or so. Im definitely happy that i had them my confidence after skyrocketed. My braces cost $1900 which in the long run is well worth it. And I did have to wear retainers for a year but my biggest regret was not getting permanent retainers on the bottom. I think you should go for it! :)

  • I wore mine for two years, the reason was that I had gaps on my top teeth and my bottom front teeth were a little crooked. The price was nearly 5,000 bucks. But other places can be cheaper. But now, 4 years later, my teeth are still straight. Thanks to the invention of retainers.

Braces can be a pain but they're so worth it when your treatment is finally done! And make sure to floss and brush your teeth about 3-4 times a day! Don't want puffy gums!

  • i always wanted braces and i'm in my thirties, still want them. instead of implants, can't you get veneers? hmmm maybe not because of the missing teeth.

  • I had braces from 5th grade to 7th grade, and couldn't be happier with the results. I had to wear a headgear at night to correct a massive overbite, though. I really can't talk about the cost, as I was too young to know what was going on. :)

HUGE piece of advice: wear your retainer. EVERY DAY. I'm thinking about getting braces on my bottom teeth to fix what was already fixed. :(

I think you should go for it, especially if it'll make you happy. <3

  • my teeth are rotting because i put super glue on them when i was 16......wish i could fix mine.....havent truelly smiled n 5 yrs

  • Get them! You will love them, I had them as an adult and I could not have made a better choice. It made me feel so much better. I wore them for 2 1/2 years, they become a part of you. My plus was, I loss like 30lbs. I gained it all back now. : ) But it was nice while it lasted. Because the spacers is the first step, I had to each soft stuff and after every tightening you eat soft stuff. But, I mastered eating anything I wanted EXCEPT corn on the cob : ) It cost me 4500.00

  • @kawright1005 *had to eat* I was on a payment plan, it's pretty reasonable once they break it all down. Best wishes.
