As a young Mod in the late 70's, this was one of my best albums...One of the The Jam's finest! ..All tales of teenage angst and heartache brings a tear to my eye just hearing this song!!..Being a Mod in London in those days were the best of my life!!
@malcolmnash - er - yes he can and did. What a clanger to disband prematurely, almost as bad a decision as Cruyff´s not to play in the ´82 World Cup when at his peak.
This album got me ready for each and every Friday nite when I was a lad, I was a Jam fan true and through, sad day when the split, but at least they never got old and boring. p.s. and I'm a Yank!

To me this album is better than the first Jam album, so many memorable tracks with really good lyrics, London Girl, Tonite at Noon, I need You, Modern World - Just brilliant
I can remember hearing this album for the first time back in the early eighties. It was an awakening - even it a young age I realized this was the way rock was supposed to sound.
My sister reminded me yesterday as i was driving with her, this song playing on the CD, of when we were young and shared a bedroom. I would play this album constantly, she said that on many occasions she was going to come over and strangle me with my headphone lead when my eyes were closed she was so fed up with it! Thanks for posting :)
English law allows you to permanently dispose of your wife for such an act. You have to do it humanely, and with consideration for her kith and kin, but no court in the land would convict you of anything other than a necessary cleansing.
Terrific tune, lots of ideas packed into 2:45.

'I need you to tell me no, slap my wrists and send me home, tell me I cant come again' - Brilliant lyrics again from Weller - the man can do no wrong
