While the boat has a reciprocating system -(will work fully under water as the blade is parallel to the water flow on it's return), the total blade area is still too small for decent performance [only about 25x25 cm]The boat is very manoeuvrable though.
Like the look of your sofabike - steering looks good, mine requires the wide handlebars to stabilise and is quite heavy but the front drive gives it great control on cornering. It's not been used much as it's not very practial in traffic [the low seating feels unsafe]built the front-drive about ten years ago.

What if you put two wheels in the back, that would balance her better for street use.

Cornering is what it's good at, so really balance is not a problem, it's just scary sitting so low when there's traffic around.
