If these 100hp Buells are so good in the corners, why are they in the same classes as 70hp SV650s? Because they are heavy and actually suck in corners.

i used to ride the superduke and the ducati streetfighter, one thing both can not outcorner a buell. it seems like a supermotard with a big engine. still it is a question of the rider, but it is very very good
about 100 horses... That would give it over 200HP about 25 more than the gixxer. Besides with the torque the firebolt has it would need abot 50 more horses to run with thr gixxer.
the GSXR looks like a K5. maybe what you meant by the 1K was 1000 cc idunno. either way the gsxr made the buell look like it was standing still, quite embarressing
Straight line speed is for pussies anyone can go fast in a straight line... Add a bunch of twisties in as well and the squid rice riders will want a Buell. When I lived in PA, I ran around with a Gixxer 1000, 600, R1, ZX6R, 9R and when we rode I was always in the front on my Buell. The best rice rider was the dude on the R1 when we hit the straight he passed me like nothing but I would over take him in the middle of the corner. He would get so pissed that a Buell would kick his Jap crap.

I took my xb12r out last weekend up against my buds gixxer 1100 and left him in the dust in the canyon, I hadnt even ridden the damn thing since i bought it 3 months ago due to a busted hand, let alone have hardly ridden a crotch rocket in a few years. he rides his all the time in the same place and still lost, just couldnt keep up out of the turns :D
of course the buell lost , my 750 gixxer beats my friends buell . well in a drag race anyway. when we're out flyin down the highway that heavy thing does pull on me tho
I own a Buell xb12ss and i reckon the buell will have troubles with a600 like an R6, the Buell was'nt made for speed its a hooligans bike built for shredding tires and corners.

Doesn't take skills to go fast in a straight line, well except for starting and stopping it without flipping. =) No matter what we all love the bikes we love and the speed limit governs us all. The guy in the video didn't know how to ride the Buell. =) The Gixxer would have over taken him, but only after about a mile or so. Off the Line the BUELL would have won. The guys feet was still on the ground. =)

Bare in mind the price difference of a GTO, viper or cobra compared to a busa. There a busa's tubos that pull 7 seconds. And on top of that a hayabusa turbo can reach 256.79MPH. I highly doubt any car short of a Veyron or Aero TT could go close to those speeds

I had an '03 GSXR 750 and sold it so I could buy my '07 XB12r. GSXR was faster but my Buell handles and is overall a lot more fun to ride. I like dragging a knee around hairpins better than doing 120mph down a straight away.
Not everything is about top speed. I have a custom 01 GSXR600 and im selling it for an 03 XB9R. GSXR's will kick a Buell's ASS in a straight run. Thats not what Buells are for. Why do you thing they made them as short as possible. Racing a straight line is much easier than running curves anyway, which is what the Buell is for. It all depends on what you want to ride. Its stupid that everything is a serious competition, just have fun.

Buell this, Buell that. I don't know where you people ride, but there are straight sections of road between corners. The GSXR 1000 would whip the Buell so bad (like in this video) it could inch around the corner and still be ahead. Put a chain on the Buell and toss it into the lake. At least it would make a good anchor!
There's more to life (and motorcycles) than straight sections of road. Anyone can "pull the trigger" down the straight....that's not what either the GSXR or the Buell were made for. Busa maybe...GSXR..no way. Go to your local dealer and see if he can get you in touch with a roadracing school...or track day. You will have so much fun...going straight won't be any fun anymore. There are many different bikes out there and they each have their own place. Both machines are plenty fast, but the Buell is more comfortable, more exotic, has a better engineered chassis, has more accessible torque and is much more fun on the street. My GSXR is built for the track, in town it sucks, poor turning radius, poor ergos, and everybody has one BORING! Try a Buell, They're fun. I own both so I consider myself a worthy contributer to this discussion, you don't. I said GOOD DAY {*}
With the exception of this guy here, a buell can beat just about any bike off the line...it's that last 1/8 mile that they catch up. The firebolt wasnt made for straight line racing - they'll get beat in the long run. They can take any bike in the turns because of the lowered center of gravity - gas is held in the frame, oil in the swingarm. I've got an xb9r and i love it.
i'm a huge harley/buell guy, would take a buell hands down over a gixxer anyday, more for styling than for the fact that its made by harley. Buells are just by far the most unique in the sportbike catagory, put that gixxer up against a buell 1125r and it wouldnt stand a chance, 3rd place w/ a stock motor in a pro superbike race!!! nothin wrong w/ that
harley owns buell, so in essence its a harley, and until a couple years ago buells used 1200 sportster engines(which will haul some ass even on a 500+ lb bike), so yeah, they're basically harleys

I love sports bikes and always have...but the sound of the buell makes me want one so bad. Fair enough it is down on power, but who cares when you own a sports bike aswell, ride either depending on mood. Who gives a fuck what other people think. Want good sound, massive torque? Ride the buell today. Want fast raging power supplied by a high reving flat 4? Ridethe sports bike. I love both! Say what you want about it, it won't stop me riding them both.
Speed bikes aren't literally made for a straight line. The Buell is a better sport bike than most Jap ones IMO. What I also find funny is that people who love Japanese bikes complain about how the Buell sucks in a straight line, but when it comes to cars, people always complain about how American cars are only good in a straight line. seriously dude, a gixxer 1000 gets to a 100kmh in less than 3 seconds (R1 does it in 2.7)
a buell in at least 4 seconds
it can maybe beat the gixxer the first few metres but after that it's bye bye
it's true that you have much more torque, but if the gixxer rider slips his clutch at high rpm your nothing with your torque
you could only win (but i think it's also doubtful) if you would have a rolling start at 20kmh without using the clutch

buells are slow on the drag strip no doubt. however buells will beat anything on a twisty road. sportbikes are ment to be rode athletically by getting kneedowns on curves.
kneedowns are for real sport bikers. because anyone can go 180 or even 200 on a straight way.
the only thing i dont like about buells is that they are the uglyest motorcycles i have seen. and i would say the uly is the worst. yet it is the next bike i plan to get

ahh the buell is a pretty bad ass bike made in America. you can't keep your straight line pulls and your Japanese sounds. The balance, short wheel base, and overall design of the bike out rake a GSXR by a long shot.

u know that there are twin turbo V8s like the viper, gto, and cobra stangs that eat busas alive on a daily basis? gary javo has a twin turbo 7 sec viper that literally pulled about 5 bus lengths on a gsxr1000 on a highway pull, those bikes are weak shit....

Bare in mind the price difference of a GTO, viper or cobra compared to a busa. There a busa's tubos that pull 7 seconds. And on top of that a hayabusa turbo can reach 256.79MPH. I highly doubt any car short of a Veyron or Aero TT could go close to those speeds

I had an '03 GSXR 750 and sold it so I could buy my '07 XB12r. GSXR was faster but my Buell handles and is overall a lot more fun to ride. I like dragging a knee around hairpins better than doing 120mph down a straight away.

Not everything is about top speed. I have a custom 01 GSXR600 and im selling it for an 03 XB9R. GSXR's will kick a Buell's ASS in a straight run. Thats not what Buells are for. Why do you thing they made them as short as possible. Racing a straight line is much easier than running curves anyway, which is what the Buell is for. It all depends on what you want to ride. Its stupid that everything is a serious competition, just have fun.

Buell this, Buell that. I don't know where you people ride, but there are straight sections of road between corners. The GSXR 1000 would whip the Buell so bad (like in this video) it could inch around the corner and still be ahead. Put a chain on the Buell and toss it into the lake. At least it would make a good anchor!

There's more to life (and motorcycles) than straight sections of road. Anyone can "pull the trigger" down the straight....that's not what either the GSXR or the Buell were made for. Busa maybe...GSXR..no way. Go to your local dealer and see if he can get you in touch with a roadracing school...or track day. You will have so much fun...going straight won't be any fun anymore. There are many different bikes out there and they each have their own place. Both machines are plenty fast, but the Buell is more comfortable, more exotic, has a better engineered chassis, has more accessible torque and is much more fun on the street. My GSXR is built for the track, in town it sucks, poor turning radius, poor ergos, and everybody has one BORING! Try a Buell, They're fun. I own both so I consider myself a worthy contributer to this discussion, you don't. I said GOOD DAY {*}

With the exception of this guy here, a buell can beat just about any bike off the line...it's that last 1/8 mile that they catch up. The firebolt wasnt made for straight line racing - they'll get beat in the long run. They can take any bike in the turns because of the lowered center of gravity - gas is held in the frame, oil in the swingarm. I've got an xb9r and i love it.

I love sports bikes and always have...but the sound of the buell makes me want one so bad. Fair enough it is down on power, but who cares when you own a sports bike aswell, ride either depending on mood. Who gives a fuck what other people think. Want good sound, massive torque? Ride the buell today. Want fast raging power supplied by a high reving flat 4? Ridethe sports bike. I love both! Say what you want about it, it won't stop me riding them both.

Speed bikes aren't literally made for a straight line. The Buell is a better sport bike than most Jap ones IMO. What I also find funny is that people who love Japanese bikes complain about how the Buell sucks in a straight line, but when it comes to cars, people always complain about how American cars are only good in a straight line. When will Import vehicle lovers every shut the fuck up? Seriously.

yeah thats obviously pretty pathetic on the riders part. the gixxer would smoke the buell but the rider still didnt even do the bike justice
