However, as someone who works in a bakery where, yes, donuts are served I can also see it from the ghetto ass donut lady's perspective. I do see where you're coming from. Every one of us feels entitled to be treated with respect, but many people don't even respect themselves and on top of that act like it's a chore to pay respect to others. I think if people had more self-respect and behaved in a way deserving of the respect they feel entitled to, that would be a good start.
Regarding the cultural differences between blacks/whites or Americans/non-Americans, I'm sure there are some real differences. But I think a lot of the clichés have more to do with personal experience and personal preferences. For instance, I know a lot of women who prefer European men because they claim they're better lovers than Americans. What they might find is that there's more to a man than what he's like 20 minutes a day.

haha! With the food related jobs I've had, if I acted like that I'd get fired. Customer service was always #1, at McDonalds and the restaurant Friendly's.

The fact that I am from another country means I have many stories 2 tell & I heard many that people wouldn't even believe. Some women outside of the US (not ALL just a few) have nothing else in mind but to treat the man right and love him & treat him like a KING then when they get that citizenship in the mail after putting up with u for X amount of yrs it's out the window & they leave u take half ur shit, but when they came here they were "perfect". However, as someone who works in a bakery where, yes, donuts are served I can also see it from the ghetto ass donut lady's perspective. Think about working behind a counter for 8 plus hours a day, slinging donuts for often indecisive people. Remember, the customer only sees one of the worker, the worker has to see hundreds of you!

nyc: i don't agree with that. people know what their job entails when they sign on. the problem is some people get complacent, especially at low paying jobs and they just get into a 'i'm in my world' type disposition, forgetting that work is work. i see it too much...lol. yeah, she's supposed to had been behind the counter for eight hours...but i had walked in at 7am. i'm sure her shift had just started...it's just like that out here. i talk about it cause it's funny.

Hey I agree, a lot of Americans in the US are like that. But as a 15 year old American Russian living in Egypt, I was shocked at how the "rich Egyptian kids" were treated (like gods by their friends), and how the rich kids treated the less wealthy Egyptian kids, or the Americans.

But I must say that a lot of the negative characteristics (yelling, stank attitudes, disrespectful, etc.) that you attribute to American Black women I usually see in American Black men. copperbat: i guess the reason with black folks is because we have so many other problems going on...and it's not a lot of us to go around. we're becoming like an endangered species(bm) the women are just single(not all of em) and the men are killing each other off(for bullshit) and going to jail like wuuut. but it's the american way. if 50,000 people went to brazil they'd adapt and all of that american shit would be out the window. brazilian chicks came here, they wouldn't be authentic either..

I do see where you're coming from. Every one of us feels entitled to be treated with respect, but many people don't even respect themselves and on top of that act like it's a chore to pay respect to others. I think if people had more self-respect and behaved in a way deserving of the respect they feel entitled to, that would be a good start.

Regarding the cultural differences between blacks/whites or Americans/non-Americans, I'm sure there are some real differences. But I think a lot of the clichés have more to do with personal experience and personal preferences. For instance, I know a lot of women who prefer European men because they claim they're better lovers than Americans. What they might find is that there's more to a man than what he's like 20 minutes a day.

I love that ending line about how it's ok if you're talking about other people it's all good, but when it's them it's bad.
Unfortunately there will always be double standards. I mean, if a regular person whose life hasn't been touched by aids will laugh at that southpark episode where Cartman gives Kyle aids, an aids victim won't. When you make vids like the ones you do you gotta expect *some* people to be offended in some way. They just have to cop it on the chin and move on.

inbred: funny you used that episode as a reference. i actually know an hiv victim and i don't remember whether i laughed at it or not, but i'm a little more sensitive to it now. you know what my man, i'm actually like south park in a way. i can't write off aids patients, just like i couldn't write off black chicks, mexican people, handicapped people etc. now, i won't make fun of sick people in an offensive way. i have a relative who's dying of cancer so i know exactly what you mean.

Yeah I don't think a deadly virus was a good example, but you get the point. I can't see you making a joke about HIV or Cancer or any disease like that anyway.
Sorry to hear about the HIV victim. We had a guy come in to school and scare us out of having sex without performing some sort of medical test before-hand because of the risk of getting HIV. Pretty scary stuff though.
