  • Any sketch featuring Fat Blue and Grover is classic. Grover rules! Elmo drools!

  • fat blue its not right or respectful to yell waiter

  • At the beginning, the manager looked mean and tough, but at the end, he looked as gentle as a little kitten.

  • what kind of dino would andre b?

  • ¡me parto el pecho!

  • I remember watching this one time with my niece.

  • Did Andre say "me eat the bill"? I sound like Andre when he said "me eat the bell". I pronounce it as bill for bell.

  • I think Andre needs a lesson in Anger Management and let me be the first to kick his butt.

  • If this were a Thomas/Sesme Street parody, this is what my cast would be:

    James-Grover

    Gordon-Fat Blue

    Diesel 10-Andre

  • @schemer1991 He Is

  • @schemer1991 He Is

  • OMG Charlie is a nother cookie monster I think what what scared fat blue away

  • Actually, that wasn't Charlie who ate the bell, (Charlie was probably never seen on Sesame Street). It was Andre Monster, and you're right, Andre did eat the bell making the same sound like Cookie Monster where I put this same comment months ago where I thought Andre Monster and Cookie Monster were related either cousins, uncle and nephew, etc.

  • @afriendofbean They Are Cousins

  • @cstoczyn Yes maybe they are. Or maybe they could be uncle and nephew where Andre could be the brother of Cookie Monster's father since their last names are "Monster."

  • @afriendofbean Thanks

  • I wonder if the manager is related to the Cookie Monster? They eat the same way.

  • I thought the same thing and I put this same comment months ago.

  • Fat Blue has been mad before, but this is the first time I have heard him rase his voice!!

  • I heard him raise his voice before. The time Grover brought him the Grapefruit Sandwich he really got mad at him, and started yelling

  • I don't blame Mr. Johnson for running. That guy was scary! If I got a manager like that, I'd run like my britches were on fire.

  • I wouldn't intrupt Andre even if I got zero service. At least Johnson got some damn service. I loved it when Andrew ate the damn bell!!! Delicious!!!!

  • Me too.

  • Well, I certainly would do the same.

  • Cookie Monsters relative managing a restaurant? Now I have seen everything.

  • If Andre is the manager of "Charlie's Restaurant", shouldn't the name be "Andre's Restaurant" instead. Or maybe the guy Charlie was the manager but, he quit, and the employees kept the name as "Charlie's Restaurant" and Andre took over Charlie's job as the manager.

  • Well maybe it's like the game Jurassic Park Operation Genesis. You're the manager but you work for the CEO of Ingen John Hammond.

  • Charlie is still there, as later sketches indicate. The thing to remember is that the owner and the manager don't necessarily have to be the same person.

  • That's true that the owner and manager can be different people. I might be wrong here but maybe the last Grover the waiter skit was when Grover was serving a sandwich to Fat Blue (the special from a picture menu) but, Grover kept forgetting an item from the picture. Then at the end Fat Blue left because he didn't have time to eat the sandwich, so then Grover got angry in the kitchen and yelled at Charlie telling Charlie that he quit. (So you're right that Charlie is still working there).

  • Actually, that was one of the very first Waiter Grover sketches. That was when Mr. Johnson was the problem. They soon switched it around and made him the victim. Charlie obviously talked Grover out of quitting. Maybe he assured him that not all customers are like that.

Also, Charlie could have been the original founder of the restaurant, only to find he enjoyed working in the kitchen more and didn't feel up to the managing responsibility, so turned to Andre. Just a theory.

  • Wow, I didn't know that the picture sandwich menu was the first waiter Grover skit. I thought that the first waiter Grover skit was where Grover served Alphabet Soup to Fat Blue. That Alphabet Soup skit is also posted onto YouTube where the person who posted it posted a comment saying that it was the first waiter Grover skit.

Also that's true, Charlie might've also hired Andre as a second manager to talk to customers. Fat Blue should've reported Andre to Charlie for not being nice.

  • The Alphabet Soup one was the first one ever.

  • Yes, I knew that the "Alphabet Soup" skit was the first waiter Grover skit since the person who posted it onto YouTube mentioned that it was the first skit where Grover is a waiter. The other reason I had a feeling that it was the first skit because, in that skit, Fat Blue called Grover to come to him and he never got angry at Grover saying "oh no, not you!" In that Alphabet Soup skit, Fat Blue probably didn't know Grover at all and that was also probably the first time he came to Charlie's.

  • That's right. That one was the first. I said that the picture menu was one of the first. I think it was the second.

  • "Actually, that was one of the very first Waiter Grover sketches. That was when Mr. Johnson was the problem. They soon switched it around and made him the victim."

Heh. The scenario in my mind is that Grover actually started playing dumb on purpose, to get revenge on Mr. Johnson for being such a fussy customer way back when. Unfortunately, he's taken it a bit too far over the years. XD

  • well i guess Cookie Monster isn't the only 1 that will eat anything that isn't edible

  • That's true but, maybe Cookie Monster and Andre are both related (either cousins, uncle and nephew, etc.) since Andre ate the bell making the same sound like Cookie Monster does.

  • I think you are most certainly right about that, man.

  • "I've been here fifteen minutes, and still no waiter."

Why do you think they're called waiters?

  • "I didn't tell the other customers that either, but they seem to get it. It's common sense."

Yeah, sure Grover. And I suppose it was a brainer that you should have brought Mr. Johnson a spoon for his chicken soup that time.

  • That's got to be the first time Fat blue has ever said Grover's name before.

  • Fat Blue actually did say Grover's name once before inside Hooper's Store which was the time when Gina worked at Hooper's Store. At that time, Fat Blue entered Hooper's Store and said to Gina "Waiter Grover at Charlie's Restaurant is not giving me what I wanted so I left."

  • Which episode was that from? Do you know?

  • I'm not sure which episode it was from, and I was unable to find it on the Sesame Street muppet webpage. I know that Gina worked at Hooper's Store from 1987-1995, and Mr. Handford was the manager of Hooper's Store from 1989-1998 (Fat Blue came to Hooper's Store at that time when Mr. Handford was the manager), so I'm sure it was somewhere between 1992-1995 that Fat Blue entered Hooper's Store where he said Grover's name at that time.

  • @jonnytbirdzback This Is From 1991-1992

  • @afriendofbean MMM HMM

  • @cstoczyn I couldn't find the right year when Fat Blue came to Hooper's Store and said Grover's name to Gina but, I remember Grover calling Hooper's Store and Bob picked up the phone and Grover said he wants to talk to the man with the blue head and surprisingly when Bob handed the phone to Fat Blue, Fat Blue knew Bob's name where he said "thanks Bob" where Grover was crying that he left so he headed back to "Charlie's."

  • @afriendofbean Good Ol' Mr. Johnson!

  • @cstoczyn Yes. The other thing I remember was as soon as Mr. Johnson left Hooper's Store, it showed a skit with Mr. Johnson at "Charlie''s" with Grover putting a grapefruit on a hamburger bun when Mr. Johnson wanted a hamburger. After that, Mr. Johnson came back to Hooper's Store to get his hamburger he ordered at Hooper's Store before he left, and Gina said that she gave it to Grover pointing to Grover outside eating it where Mr. Johnson fainted then inside Hooper's Store.

  • @afriendofbean Poor Mr. Johnson

  • @cstoczyn Yes I agree. He is always getting bad luck since almost everywhere he goes, he gets bad luck seeing Grover. (The only skit he never saw Grover was a skit called "Pizzaria Dos" and he got what he wanted but, he was not happy with the extra food and drink he got). Plus, I rememeber in two skits where Mr. Johnson was crying because he probably felt sad that his life is ruined always seeing Grover everywhere he goes.

  • @afriendofbean I Understand

  • @cstoczyn I guess anytime Mr. Johnson sees Grover in a restaurant, store, movie theater, etc., he should probably just choose to leave and go somewhere else instead of having Grover provide business for him since everytime he agrees to have Grover provide business for him (even though he doesn't want too), problems then start for him, and if he leaves wherever Grover is working without getting his assistance, Mr. Johnson wouldn't have to get angry and/or faint.

  • @afriendofbean I Get That

  • @cstoczyn Okay.

  • @afriendofbean Thanks

  • At the restaurant Bubba Gump Shrimp, there's a blue license plate at every table that says "run, Forest, run," and when you change it to the red plate that says "stop, Forest, stop," the waiter comes. Very much like the bell concept.

  • If you listen carefully @ 1:04/1:05, a customer rang the bell 4 times instead of 3, and Grover went to that table.

  • Yes I heard that customer ring the bell 4 times, and I wonder why Andre didn't come out as soon as the bell was rung 4 times since 4 rings of the bell is Andre's bell call. Maybe the reason Andre came to Fat Blue instead of that customer because Fat Blue rang the bell 4 times very loud with anger and he was more closer to the kitchen doors but, that other customer was far away from the kitchen doors he was wasn't ringing too loud.

  • Actually, I don't think the bell rang four times. It didn't sound like it to me. I think it was the knob on the bell popping up again.

  • I must admit, I think the manager must be one of Cookie Monster's distant relatives!

  • I'm not sure why Andre was so angry at Fat Blue just because he rang the bell four times (which is his ringing call to be called). Of course, it's Andre's job to listen to customers what they need to say. If Andre didn't like being called, especially by the bell, then he shouldn't of given the idea to have bells to be called. Just like Andre showed anger to Fat Blue here, I wonder if Andre also showed anger to Grover when he hired him at "Charlie's Restaurant." If so, he's not a nice manager

  • You're right. He shouldn't be working there.

  • I'll bet Andre was fired from Charlie's Restaurant from causing all the trouble. What do you think?

  • He didn't appear in any other sketches, so you're probably right.

  • At 3:00, it sound like Grover said "here comes Andrew" instead of calling Andre.

  • He called him "Andy" as a nickname.

  • Yes you're right. When I listen to Grover carefully at 3:00, I can hear him calling Andre as Andy.

  • @afriendofbean Actually Grover Did Say, "Andre"

  • @cstoczyn That might be true too. However, Grover called him Andy at 3:21 also.

  • I wonder if Andre here is related to Cookie Monster in any way since Andre ate the bell making the same sound just like Cookie Monster when Cookie Monster eats something.

  • Most monsters have poor eating manners.

  • That's true. I remember in one Sesame Street episode that Telly Monster broke his arm, and he had an arm cast for a few Sesame Street episodes, and as he bought his lunch from Hooper's Store and was going to eat it in the courtyard, he had a banana for dessert, and he told Maria that he only had one arm and was unable to peel the banana. So he ate the banana along with the peel making the same sound like Cookie Monster where he told Maria that Cookie Monster taught him to eat like that.

  • @afriendofbean Telly Is Related To Andre And Cookie, Huh?

  • @cstoczyn Well Telly just ate the peel and banana making the same sound like Cookie Monster going "ar yum yum yum" where he told Maria that Cookie Monster taught him to eat like that but, Telly doesn't really eat like that since I have seen him eating quietly in other skits.

  • @afriendofbean Me Neither

  • I agree with you 100%.

Andre probably is related to Cookie Monster.

Probably one of Cookie Monster's cousins.

  • That's true. Maybe Andre and Cookie Monster are cousins or they could be both uncle and nephew.

  • @afriendofbean They Are Cousins

  • @cstoczyn Maybe. Or maybe they are uncle and nephew where Andre is the brother of Cookie Monster's father since their last name is "Monster."

  • Yeah---from the orange side of the family. XD

  • BTW, who is that other Orange Monster singing the "Doo Wop Hop" song with The Muppets and People on the "Sesame Street's 25th Birthday" video?

  • It wasn't a monster singing that song. It was Kermit The Frog singing the song with two cows in the background where the song was about Kermit singing how proud he is to be a frog and he can do things as a frog that no other animal can do which is what he was proud of.

  • Not that version. I was referring to the Orange Monster singing kind of low with The Muppets and people from the "Sesame Street's 25th Birthday" VHS Tape. Was that monster Rocky or something?

  • I know that there was an orange monster named Rocky who appeared in a Monsterpiece Theater segment called "Monster's With Dirty Faces" with Grover as a police officer who was assigned to make Rocky clean his face but, Rocky was not sure how to clean his face.

However, I'm not sure whether this Rocky monster sang the song "Doo Wop Hop" or not.

  • Me neither.

  • I'm not sure David Rudman voices Andre. I seem to remember a web site that indicated it was Jim Martin. Plus, notice how Mr. Johnson's voice is slightly higher than usual.

  • No, that definently sounds like David. Jerry's still playing Mr. Johnson

  • I checked the site and now no performer is listed so you could be right. And I always knew Jerry still voiced Mr. Johnson, I just think he's using a higher pitched voice here.

  • @MarshalGrover MMM HMM

  • It is a shame they do not have other waiters in these skits otherwise Fat Blue (who should take anger management classes) would get what he wants. Please upload more if you have any and when you get tme :-)

  • Actually, in one Grover the waiter skit, they did have another waiter at Charlie's Restaurant who came to Fat Blue which made him happy thinking he was going to get what he wants. But then Grover came and argued with the waiter saying that Fat Blue is his customer. Fat Blue told them that he didn't care who his waiter was but told them that he wanted tuna fish on toasted bread with a glass of orange juice. So Grover and the other waiter cooperated but, they were out of tuna and orange juice.

  • Yes there was that one and I saw it before!

  • And at that pizza shop with the Spanish Guys.

  • Yeah... we got that.

  • This is the first time I've actually heard Fat Blue say Grover's name

  • Good observation

  • Thank you.

  • @classicssmfan Thanks

  • @b3d Me 2

  • Actually, Fat Blue did once say Grover's name before inside Hooper's Store which was the time when Gina worked at Hooper's Store (probably it was when Mr. Handford was the manager of Hooper's Store at this time). At that time, Fat Blue entered Hooper's Store and asked for a hamburger and said "Waiter Grover at Charlie's Restaurant is not giving me a hamburger so I left."

  • Oh thanks. As you can see, I was born in 1993, so therefore, I don't know if I was there at the time.

  • Well, Gina worked at Hooper's Store from 1987-1995 and Mr. Handford was the manager of Hooper's Store from 1989-1998, so I'm sure it was somewhere between 1992-1995 that Fat Blue entered Hooper's Store where he said Grover's name at that time.
