  • "The famous alley-oop on Pat Ewing's head happens here."

  • ridiculous game by MJ

  • How much did Patrick Ewing have in this game. Anyone know?

  • lol at pippen at the end, so young

  • hes so fast here omg

  • lol on Pip

  • type "short guy dunks" in the youtube search box to see a 5ft 5in guy dunking a 10ft hoop

  • Oakley on the bulls<<<<oakley on the knicks

  • The lob, THE JAM, and the foul.

  • 14 bieber fans

  • Every game during this season, MJ was rockin a crisp new pair of Jordan 3s, which for my money, were the greatest Air Jordans EVER. Of course they wouldn't have been as cool to own without Mike endorsing and doing amazing things in them each night... Seeing these vids really take me back to a time when MJ made growing up awesome...

  • Yes!! This game is sick. Jordan hit so many ridiculous shots in this game including his infamous ally- oop dunk where he knees Ewing in the head

  • This was back when MJ would decimate his opponents.

  • I swear Micheal isn't human! He is a Cyborg! He put balls in every center in the leagues face! Especially Patrick Ewing..lmao

  • 13 Justin BIEBER fans

  • damn he kneed my boy ewing in his face LOL

  • Whenever it was announced before a game that Jordan had the "flu" (which was literally once a week) you knew he was going to have a great game. Michael Jordan's had the flu more often than anyone else in human history. He's a medical marvel.

  • Pippen was hilarious at the end...lol

  • Seriously, hoops, bruceblitz, and blackadam06 should collaborate and put up some sort of website or blog that lists all the common misconceptions and claims against MJ's greatness with accompanying retort. All in one page for all haters, doubters, and Kobe homers to see and eat dust.

  • @uberathlete hoopsapedia.webs.com

  • 4:06 to 4:09 ....just plain ol downright filthy

  • Jordan was embarrassing the league ..!!!

  • Players lost sleep, lost weight, had diarreha <---(spell check please), hot flashes, wet beds... just thinking of playing against Jordan. Im crying right now to know he was the greatest player I watched growing up. Thanks MJ :)

  • Mark Jackson is a complete dumb ass, there isn't a single intelligent thing that comes out of his mouth.

  • I remember this game like it was yesterday. I had it recorded on beta max.

This was by his best INDIVIDUAL game where he had the ROAD fans on their feet the entire game. The first half where he went UNDER the backboard ala Julius Erving was the start of all the rest of the dunks, jumpers, quick moves, and more dunks to follow.

I used to watch this game at least twice a week. I've been looking for it for 2 days now, and I found it.

  • stomach virus my ass lol mike can play thru anything he is god

  • MJ shot 53% for a season. That's damn near dominant center with his back to the basket(Shaq or Wilt) percentages while shooting guards today have shitty percentages to be elite players.

  • Great game! Wow. This is probably the 2nd best game as far as insane dunks goes. I still think the game he had in Utah where he dunks on the whole team. Dunked on Mark Eaton, Stockton, Thurell bailey, M. Turpkin whatever the hell his name was and then he showed up their owner as well. I never saw this game but many of these moves here made his highlight videos. GOAT. nothing else can be said

  • 0:15-0:18 look @ that starting lineup...dave corzine?! brad sellers? sam vincent? who are they? oakley was obviously good but he wasnt a scorer...jordan had a terrible team he had 2 score a ton of pts 4 them 2 win

  • 4:16 Michael Jordan tells Patrick Chewing "Oops!"

  • @acceptthis01 LOL Sniker Comercial

  • 17-23 fg = real dominance

  • Yeah, it's incredible that he scored so many on so little field goal attempts. It's not like Carmelo Anthony, where he has to shoot 35/40 shots to score 50 points.

  • michael killing in MSG.. when the knicks could play D

  • note the surreal shooting percentage...against real defenses back then too.

  • Jordan.

His Classics Are Amazing! Huge Fan Forever!! ;D

  • I had this second half on vhs, best bball half I seen, Jordan so fast and athletic,

    he killed NY

  • Man, how many times Jordan posterized Ewing???

  • Michael owned everybody lol greatness in action!

  • Michael owned the Knicks plain and simple. Thats just the way it was

  • Michael owend everybody in both confrerences. The opposing coaches had nervous breakdowns.

  • That is one of the reasons that Mark Jackson keeps hating on MJ!

  • u aint lie'n!!

  • lol yea anyone that watched the nba in the 90s knows mj used to shit on mark jackson and the knicks

i guess undermining mj as a commentator is the only way he can "get back" at him...cause he sure as hell never could on the court

  • I am surprised Mark Jackson got up as high as he did on that alley oop to Jordan. Hahaha! Is that why Mark Jackson keeps hating on Mike?

  • I saw this game live on the MSG network, and I was fascinated at how athletic and dominant he was. He just completely took over and was everywhere on the court. I would take the 1987-1993 version of Jordan over any other player. Completely unstoppable...

  • Michael Jordan is a real basketball player and he can out score anybody even when he is sick.

  • What a move by Jordan. That was Michael Jordan.

  • its crazy how I do a search for ny knicks, and I get a whole bunch of jordan clips... LOL

  • That was Michael Jordan. What a move by Jordan.

  • now i hate baseket ball becasue all the players try to be like Michael Jordan

  • Beyond greattt

  • 0:56 is crazy!

  • i think Jordan plays better when he has the flu. Just a thought. He just had to force it when he had the flu

  • the hoop and the harm

  • Awesome vid, and right before some of Jordan's baskets you can hear the old school organ playing the defense tune 'um um, um um, um um, um um' That must've been his theme music to score more. "um um, um,um"

  • Man, MJ's team was truly shitty in the early years. Some folks who say that MJ had a great supporting cast around him often forget how crappy everyone around him really was. Even when Pip and Horace started developing, the engine that made that growth possible was MJ.

  • fuck kboe

    fuck james

    fuck carter

    fuck all the NBA

if Jordan the GOAT is not playing.

look cearfully how many time he's been duble & triple timed. and still he is scoring wooooooooooooooooooooooooooow

  • when he got older. he only drove when he needed to. but wut the hell man he could do whatever he wants. G.O.A.T

  • He was more deserving, but Barkely definetly deserved a ring as well. I know Sir Charles was only a Sun for a few years and that he was better known with Philly.

  • And people said he only drove to the basket in his early years. Thia was a good mix of inside and outside work.

  • simply amazing!

  • hes plays like a kobe on steroids

  • Michael Jordan is still banned in two cities: New York City and Cleveland. They hate him there.

  • You forgot Orlando, Utah, Phoenix, and Philly ;)

  • Nah, I'm from Tucson and i still think he was more deserving of that championsip than Chuckster who was never really a Sun.

  • lol are u crazy new york luvs Jordan. do u kno how many fans where there his last game as a wizard....not a bull a wizard. Also dont forget jordan is from brooklyn new york he just moved to north Carlina. But i agree i dont think ppl like him much in Cleveland he gave them to many heart breaks lol

  • banned him from entering there? why?

  • holy snap, that one handed double pump jumper off the glass was SICK!

  • i remember watching this game. i could say this on almost every video on youtube, and that is how the crowd always reacted to mj. even back in 1988 he had the respect of road game crowds and they would literally jump out of their seats and cheer him on. they wanted to see him score 50, and their team win.

  • phil jackson is an idiot. he ripped kobe in a book and then came back to coach him within two years. jackson said in that book that when mitch kupchack told him of kobe's rape allegations, he responded by saying he wasn't surprised.

what kind of human being says that?

    as for

  • Look at 4:05, you can see that in addition to bumping him with the body, Ewing's stiff arm across Jordan's head actually makes contact and snaps Jordan's head back as he turns the corner. Watch MJ's head closely. And then Ewing AGAIN bumps him on the shot. No call.

  • Watch 2:17-2:25 and see how the entire Knicks team collapses into the lane to defend against the Jordan drive despite TWO defenders already trapping him on the ball. Even when Jordan reverses direction and goes back out to the top of the key area (with two guys still on him until he gives up the ball, mind you), Ewing is camped out in the lane "just in case." Pitino, Nelson, Riley, and others used to zone up Jordan all the time -- they were just good at hiding it.

  • So what does Jordan do? Give and go basketball -- one of many offensive tactics Kobe was too dumb to try vs. Boston. Instead he kept trying to drive from the top of the arc against a set defense like a stubborn mule. A complete lack of basketball IQ, that.

  • I totally agree with u. I never saw any Kobe's fans talked about give and go, it's one tactic to lose double team. But Kobe seldom, or never used it in finals.

All he knew was try to drive to basket, if failed, he then passed out or gave a mid range jumper, most of time he couldn't shoot in right time in finals. That's why he failed in finals. he just didn't have enough experience to deal with great team defense.

  • I understand Michael was just about the quickest player to every play, but 1:16 that nigga just traveled his ass off

  • mark jackson hates on jordan cuz of all the embarrasing years that his family witnessed air j make jackson look like a 7th grade b-ball playa! see the palming of the ball yo'--if jordan wanted he could have squeezed jackson's head off with those big ass hands.

  • Except that the players have gotten smaller since MJ retired. Due to the shift towards perimeters (MJ's influence), gone are the big centers and football PFs. 2007 and 2008 were the 2 shortest years since the 70s. Players have also lost about 2-4lbs since MJ retired. With the tough rules back then as well, layups were truly difficult which is why they changed the rules. You have it backwards.

  • @hoopsencyclopedia ya this is so true hoops. i havent lived through these times to see mj but i study the game. And i agree with your size statement. I notice that back in the day there were a lot more of the 6-5 6-6 2 guard. These days the average two guard is between 6-2 and 6-4 what happened? Are the shorter guards more athletic or what?

  • @sauld420 u just got owned

  • Thing is, Jordan is relentless and Lebron is soft. Jordan gets knocked down and gets back up, over and over, he doesn't care what happens to his body, he just pushes forward. Lebron is like "okay then, I guess I'm shooting jumpers from here on out" once a team gets even a little physical.

  • @sauld420: No you're wrong! The league today is younger, more athletic but not better. Guys in the 80's/90's were more talented & definitely weren't smaller. HOF centers such as Ewing, Robinson, & Hakeem could camp in the paint all day long; there was no 3 second rule in the paint back then. Jordan did not have the benefit of no touch rules on the perimeter either; hand checking was the norm. The game was much more physical back then. Lebron & Kobe are the ones that have it easy.

  • WHAT THE!! He's Superman he can fly!..hahahha he's still the best!

  • plz stop the comparisons with jordan and kobe. kobe is the best imitator of jordan. he plays just like him but isn't as smoothe. jordan never lost in the finals while kobe was unclutch against the pistons. jordan is a legend for a reason, he gonna be remembered FOREVER.

  • Somebody just questioned how an 88 Mj would fare vs a 08 Kobe in a 1 on 1 game.

    What a joke!

Kobe is to slow for MJ on offense and defense, Mj would blow by him. MJ's athletic ability alone would beat him. But if by any chance Kobe was to stay in front of him, Mj would either: outsmart him or just beat him with skill alone.

Kobe has never faced anybody with MJ's combination of skills, athleticism, and smarts.

Who in his era? VC? Wade? Bron?Arenas? Redd?

    What a joke.

  • why people always critisize kobe? hes not that bad. He also has some extra features that jordan doesn't have. If talking about outsmart, well of course jordan, but if it comes to 1-1, damn kobe got some skills and speed and jump as well. It's not me saying this, but PHIL JACKSON stated that kobe is more athletic and more creative on the floor than Jordan, but jordan has bigger hands so it helps him to have better control of the ball and also helps him to have a better ball-handling in the air

  • Actually, its a FACT that Mj in his prime athletically >>>> Kobe.

    MJ's vert (approximately) 44-48 inches

    Kobe's vert (approximately) 38-42

MJ's time in the 40 yard dash, a whopping 4.3!!!

    Kobe's time is around 4.8

These are according to some information available. Their "approximate" because some sources varied, but that's a fair medium.

You'll see a vid detailing alot of this and more in the near future.

    Peace

  • seriously? thankz for the information....

  • Yup

More on that info plus more will be highlighted by upcoming Bruce videos and posts.

You can look up the info if you'd like.

And like I mentioned, the stats vary somewhat, but the highest seem to be the most consistent. I just added the lesser vert and 40 times to be as fair as possible.

I mean... MJ was 40 and still beating people off the dribble, even with a bad knee. Just imagine in his physical prime?

All this nonsense of MJ not being able to play in today's era is a joke.

    Peace

  • "He also has some extra features that jordan doesn't have."

Like what? I'd like to hear what these "features" are, because not only was MJ circa 1986-93 PHYSICALLY superior to kobe, his production in ALL facets of the game, DWARFS kobe's.

So please explain that comment. I'd like to hear this LOL!!

  • Kobe's a fine athlete, but Phil Jackson has NEVER stated Kobe's a better athlete than Kobe. Had he said that then Kobe fans would've kept using it in their arguments. Phil had a seat on the sidelines when MJ was in his athletic prime(88-89). He's not stupid enough to say something like that. Nobody who has ever watched 87-93 MJ would say that.

  • Kobe's a fine athlete, but Phil Jackson has NEVER stated Kobe's a better athlete than Kobe.

I was gonna say, he must be superhuman if he's better than himself.

  • Does any MJ game have a greater quantity of highlight-film plays than this one?

    Seriously, I'm asking, I don't know.

  • That was the thing about Jordan, if he showed up to the game sick, the other team had better start praying.

  • LOL at comparing this unhuman freak of nature to Kobe!

  • Lol at 5:10. Triple teamed and then some and it still doesnt make a difference..

  • The Knicks vs. Chicago in 1988 is actually the first time I became aware of MJ. I was a Knick fan but not a huge basketball fan so this was really the first year I started watching the games regularly. As I'm watching the Knicks against Chicago I was completely blown away by Jordan. He was and remains the most talented athlete I ever saw.

  • 1:19 is better that dr j's move

  • Why the Bulls are winning...LOL! Kobe rite now reminds me of Young MJ, But Young Mj sure is better!!!

  • No way. If anything Kobe has the second three-peat Jordan's game. Lot's of jump shots with an occasional attacking of the basket. He is NO WHERE near as explosive as young MJ.

  • if you're sick and your skills are still ill any talk at all any antagonizing any trying to explain it away is moot,Jordan Is Was Planted In The NBA by GOD

  • MJ went 18-27 in this game not 17-23. Which of course is still damn good.

  • Yeah reignman is right. I never cared for checking that cause MJ had quite a few nights like that

  • You're right. Thanks for the correction. I don't know how I got that wrong. Either it was a mixup from Utah's game that year or I tried to count it myself and was off. Thanks.

  • @hoopsencyclopedia 1:16 is traveling! The left leg moves before he dribbles!

  • yah dont look at the goal percentage ..look at MJ have a virus ..haha .. which he shot very well even that ..

  • unbelievable mj

  • Nastyshow that night. Seen a couple of those plays on ComeFlyw/Me&various other MJ vids soldNstores, always said those NBAFilmsvids dont begin to do MJ, Bird, Magic, and the other true legends justice. The 2 plays from this game which are shown on Comeflyw/me arent necessarily the best he made on that night, as I suspected.

  • Fitting MJs best plays into a video of less than 2hours in length, even when ComeFlyW/ME was being made, couldnt have been an easy task.

Its like trying to encapsulate all of world history from prehistoric times to present into a single school year's curriculum.

  • he rarely misses a shot. It's like he was destined to go down as the greatest ever.

  • one word... WOW. but wait a minute? in the why their winning thing it says Jordan 82 points WOOT and the title on the vid was 48... what gives but still. WOW.

  • miss those days

  • this was long before hand-check rule was applied in nba where u can put both hands on the player during defense. little grabbing here and there, pushing and pulling was allowed, which is hard to imagine in today's game.

  • any1 can do this against the knicks today

  • But...but...but...I thought they didn't have double teams back then?

Cuz I clearly saw the Knicks double and triple team him. I also saw the lane clogged up, since they didn't have a 3 second rule. I saw him getting hand checked and bumped repeatedly.

    MJ = GOAT

  • I had this game on VHS back in the day. This was always one of my favorite games to watch.

The Garden fans were cheering for Mike every shot or dunk he made. This is classic stuff right here. Thanks Hoops. :^)

  • very smart player plus skilled. so beautiful to watch play. just floats thru the air. Runs down court soon as the ball leaves his hands. Damn!

  • Thanks for this forgotten gem, and this is coming from a Knicks fan!

  • They should be going crazy. They were watching somebody who is truly a superior person to them.

  • People were going crazy for Jorsan in New York.

  • what a dominant game! You barely see one of those crazy driving dunks or reverse layups these days from todays players, and in this game alone, Jordan had about 10!

  • Will someone please explain to me how Gerald Wilkins got the nickname "Jordan Stopper?" Every time MJ went up against Wilkins, GW got torched. I guess it meant that MJ only got 40 instead of 50!

  • I don't think that was ever his nickname. The Cavs brought in Gerald later on because he was around 6-6 and could jump so they thought he could stay with MJ at least physically. They were 'hoping' he could be a slow down MJ which meant if MJ scored 38 instead of 40, he did a good job.

  • Jordan and Kobe are great players. Jordan by far is the better player and Kobe has a chance to go down as a top 5 player from his own era. Jordan should be compared to Shaq and Duncan who are the only leaders with multi-championships. Read my channel description. I guarantee you that it teaches you more about the game and the history of MJ and the history of Kobe.

  • Oh damn...this is that game where he gave Ewing nutts...lol...enjoy!

  • one of the best three athletes from our generation Michael Jordan from the United States of America, along with Pele from Brazil and Hugo Sanchez from Mexico (best player from Real Madrid 5 times MVP) and the three of them clean athletes, no need of shitty drugs like some others

  • "Air Jordan"

  • He had the flu the game??

  • Yep.

  • KING OF BASKET!

  • 4:17 dude caught a knee to the chin muscles lol.

  • 53% plus FG for the season. Nuff said.

  • I found an eloquent statement Hoops: It was the substance behind the style that sealed the victory.

Can I use that one? I will tell them hoopsencyclopedia said it.

It reminds me of Hebrews 11:1: "now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen". Christ was faithful in dying for our sin to give us victory over sin by faith in Him!

  • Of course. Where are you putting it? (Just curious)

  • Preachers are notorious quote stealers. I guess it was more a "christianees" joke. I have remarked before tha your comments and stats are like a writer's.

I just watched the N.Y. 1st/last games. Saw thefirst Jordans in the 98 game.

    Please more Bulls/Pistons playoffs.

  • its NY and michael would bring is deadly game no matter what

  • its like nothing wrong with him XD he's playing like 100%

  • Just imagine you guys, back in those late 80s you never seen anything like that kind of basketball style like MJ possessed, I mean nobody did that kind of a shot except for MJ ONLY!!! It takes great courage and skill to make that kind of a fancy moves and make the shot against a guy that tower way above your head!!! MJ is the original then comes everbody else like KGarnet, T-mac, Kobe Bryant, etc.

  • Yer right dude. Everyone is trying to play like that now. M.J. was the first. The original.

  • yeah man as original as the original article the atari 26hundred and the pong shit and the beta format on vcrs as original as video kill the radio star the first MTV video in broadcast in history of MTV gees dude

  • skills is one thing. Kobe, LeBron, Wade, T-Mac has it but "God Gifted Talent" only his airness had that. His body control even in this "flu" sick game is incredible. Bird was absolutely right, MJ is God disguised.

  • and still they don´t even compare to Mike, they JUST wanna be like mike

  • his INTENSITY is what seperates him from Kobe. Jordan had that infectious competitive intensity that his teammates fed off of.

  • hoops,

sorry if you've already answered this, as I think that I might have asked it before but never heard a reply, but I was wondering what happened to the Van Gundy "Con" Game? It seems to have disappeared!

  • Amazing.

When did he do that unforgettable dunk in the Garden where he slipped past two defenders and slammed over Ewing? 91?92? Was it a playoff game?

  • That move you are talking about (possibly my all-time fave )...It's in a playoff game....I think it was the 1991 Playoffs. Its on the Bulls Dynasty DVD.

  • Its game 3 of the 1991 First round playoffs. I will upload that game next!

  • Great, I'll be waiting for it!

  • Jxn23............thanks dude. can't wait. Infact, I'd like to see Knicks-Bulls 1991 1st round playoffs Games 1,2,3.

  • if i know nothing on basketball and i watch this game, i'd say that that number 23 guy is so exciting. same case as today: if i watch #23 from the cavs and i knew nothing on basketball, i'd say nothing. maybe the #24 from west would get my attention a lil bit, just a lil bit

  • you are lying, just a lil bit. you know from the bottom of your heart that those two are behind this greatest player of all time in terms of athletism and excitiment they bring to the floor.

  • All you ever see is the finish with Michael swinging his legs on Ewing's head. To see all the moves and shots of this game, did you see the triple teams he split? Jordan's my fav Jesus is my Lord. Hoops, you got anything from the '84 Olympics?

  • hes a LEGEND!!!

  • Did someone piss Jordan off before this game?! He is a MONSTER!! WHooooo! Damn i miss these days! The crowd is cheering him like he is scoring for NY! This is insane.

  • MJ played like this every game back then. Every game was an athletic spectacle. You were hoping his jumper was off because you'd know he'd just start attacking the basket to pull off one circus shot after another. And, the intensity.

  • WTH?! 1:34 He dribbles in traffic and pulls up a jumper off the dribble?! Who does that anymore!? LOL

  • nobody, this was 18 years ago.

  • players these dyas are too obsessed with the 3, so we NEVER we moves like that. I do them all the time when I play with my friends and they think it's such a low percentage shot to take, but I've perfected it since being an MJ fan, so they always claim fluke. Same with the fadeaway.

  • holy shit that reverse in the 1st was so Jordan

  • Actually...the Bulls were only leading by one point before those free throws at the end. The final score was 121-118.

  • Michael Jordan is #2 all-time in steals and has one of the five or so highest steals per game averages in NBA history. He was a tenacious defender.

poleycents, he has many much more freakish performances than this.

  • This game is just amazing. I never saw this game until hoops and Youtube. I was speechless when I saw this game. greatest athlete of all times past present and future.

  • I've always held MJ in the highest regard and followed closely during his second three peat, but after watching the up and under the backboard at 1:00, the one handed double clutch running jump shot at 2:26, and the concentration displayed at 4:00 I now know the definition of physical mastery.

  • This is ridiculous, I'm a knicks fan but all respect to CLEARLY the greatest player of all time. I'm in aww..

  • no one can top this man hes a machine!

  • greatest of all time, i'm glad i was alive to see him play .. this was when he began to peak

  • wow!! could you please show me why jordan won the defensive player of the year award?

  • Because he had over "200" steals & "100" blocks that season...and he turned around & did it again the next season because people said it was a fluke. Show me "Any" 2-guard over the last 6 years, that has averaged almost 6 steals a game like he did this season, or any center in the league today that could put up 200 blocks, like he did that season? That's why he won defensive player of the year & that's just scratchin the surface about his defensive capabilities..

  • I meant "show me a center that could get 100 blocks in a season today. another typo was the six steals..it was a little over 3.5 that season..i was thinking about the "6" rebounds & "6" assists he averaged throughout his career, while managing to shoot well over 50% from the field...as a 2-guard. His worst shooting season from, the field, was his last season with the bulls (the wizards don't count) was 47%, which looking at the so called "air apparents" of today, is better than theirs..

  • im not dissing it i just wish to see more of it that's all

  • you know he's sick when he's got your own fans cheering more for him than your home team

  • Your videos are g
