Looks like China preferred the MiG 1.44 prototype's design for their 5th generation J-20 fighter, they simply modified the front to be more like F-22/35.
Both of these planes never became anything more than prototypes for "dead end" concepts, as Sukhoi completely abandoned the Su-47 design in the PAK-FA(which should be called either Su-45 or Su-50) and MiG chose to continue upgrading the MiG-29(MiG-35).
The bottom of the mig look blue to anyone else in these videos? I'm making a models of it right now and im having trouble finding pictures for reference. The kit says all gray but i see blue and gray in this video...any ideas?

Experimental craft vs experimental craft? Depends on the situation, really. If these two were dog-fighting eachother, the Su-47 is more maneuverable and is a stealth plane. the mig 44 looks rather like a medium bomber aircraft but may excel in dogfighting as well. They seem like they can work well with a bait-and-lure approach if fighting large groups of enemy aircraft.
Lets see, one of the craft you mentioned is eXperimental (X-47C), one is proposed (F-117X), one is an out-dated interceptor (MiG-25), one is a tech-demonstrator (Su-47), and one is more in its beta stage (F-35)
Though only one example of either exists, i'd have to say the Berkut. Simply because it has Supermanuverability without the aid of Thrust vectoring. And, you could probably tack on Thrust vectoring if designing went that far.

FIrst of all the first forward swept wing concept plane was the Junkers 287 which, unlike your beloved Heinkel He-162D, it was actually built (two of them to be exact). The Ju 287 however was plagued with structural problems that the germans could not solve and so the X-29 was started with a clean sheet of paper and as a NEW DESIGN and NOT as a copy. for the same problem that the Su 47 program stoped using FSW and went back to more normal wing set up. there is no Material as of yet that can take those levels of stress. maybe in a few more years but not now.
oh don't get me wrong I love the FSW design and I can't wait to see a working production craft that uses that set up. its just not something that will be seen in 5th gen jet.
I expect most if not all the first gen uav fighter jets to have that set up myself.
FSW's might return soon, composites like the one used on the A380 have been quite revolutionary and are always improving, carbon nanotubes are getting a lot of attention these days and although they're damn expensive now, 20 years in the future they probably won't.
The problem with USA is that they are very cocky about their technology. In reality mostly USA used their military might against inferior countries that are much weaker, dont have good air defense, dont make their own weapon systems. USA never went against another country that is on the same level as they are or close to it. Just because you can fly a F22 Raptor at super sonic speeds and fire a missles at buildings which end up as schools and hospitals on occasion. Dont make ya good.

Exactly. I was just saying that the reason they never moved the X-29 into production was not due to problems with wing strength at all. The x-29's composite wings with aluminum/titanium frames were plenty strong. According to NASA's website about the project they say something like, "The concept did not provide the maneuverability initially expected." I think they improved subsonic, but were inferior at supersonic... or maybe it was the other way around... dont remember exactly.
Thats the whole thing, no one dog fights at supersonic speeds, if lets say a F22raptor tries to launch a missle at Su-47, the plane would easily be able to get out its way because the missles turn rate as not as good as the plane's turn rate. Same goes for projectile weapons, besically SU-47 would have a much easier time to get into firing position. I know alot of people think that in modern combat dog fighting is absolete, and manervability means nothing, its not the case in real life.
Eh I dunno, weapons like the AIM-9X, Python 5, and Archer might have something to say about turn rates and in-fighting. Most engagements are done BVR, but a smart person plans for all aspects of a fight. Vietnam taught that lesson VERY well.
I read this article about few years back, about India and USA training together. India was using russian made Su-32s and USA used their F-16s, F-18s. They didnt use that system that feeds all battle information, identifies targets, lock on, besicaly does everything for the pilot. It was straight up all on pilot skill and know how, only using on board systems. Indian pilots beat USA pilots 8 out of 10 exersies. That was very embarasing. In prolonged war if these systems taken out. Game Over.

Experimental craft vs experimental craft? Depends on the situation, really. If these two were dog-fighting eachother, the Su-47 is more maneuverable and is a stealth plane. the mig 44 looks rather like a medium bomber aircraft but may excel in dogfighting as well. They seem like they can work well with a bait-and-lure approach if fighting large groups of enemy aircraft.

The MIG 1.44 looks interesting, but I would like to see how it performs. I love the SU-47, but I bet it would be better if it have thrust vector, but even without it, it still have great manoeverability at low subsonic speeds thanks to forward swept wings

Buran developed a long time. Our engineers are not able to cope with the high temperature wing edges in the past. Buran was not collected until you solve the problem of thermal protection. Special United States stole copies of the project and handed over engineers. Perhaps the U.S. Shuttle engineers on Russian designs.

Since the US Defense Department had plans to use the Shuttle for military missions, Moscow felt the need to respond with a comparable craft to maintain parity with the West. The old USSR used and stole all published NASA research they could to "copy" the US Space Shuttle. Buran is almost identical as you can see in any photo.

One thing is to have a concept of something, and a very different thing is to actually build it and make it fly properly. The germans suspected of the benefits of forward swept wings but it was NASA working together with Grumman who solved all the aeroelasticity issues the germans could not overcome by using advanced composite materials. FIrst of all the first forward swept wing concept plane was the Junkers 287 which, unlike your beloved Heinkel He-162D, it was actually built (two of them to be exact). The Ju 287 however was plagued with structural problems that the germans could not solve and so the X-29 was started with a clean sheet of paper and as a NEW DESIGN and NOT as a copy. You saying that the X-29 is a "replica" of any german plane is the stupidest thing I've ever heard

The British RAF and the USAF run a test called JOUST, this evaluates aircraft using a complex system of programs, simulations and performance analysis against various aircraft.
The most recent test compared the main aircraft of the UK and the US against the Su 37. The results were as follows;

Both have thrust vectoring and are extremely manouverable, but the F-22 has better radar, much more stealthy, and it's got supercruise.

F-22 is produced but US still hasnt put it into active serivce, so it doesnt prove itself useful yet. Comparing military and planes is like comparing a watermelon to an apple. The problem with USA is that they are very cocky about their technology. In reality mostly USA used their military might against inferior countries that are much weaker, dont have good air defense, dont make their own weapon systems. USA never went against another country that is on the same level as they are or close to it. Just because you can fly a F22 Raptor at super sonic speeds and fire a missles at buildings which end up as schools and hospitals on occasion. Dont make ya good.

Ph33r...forward swept wingz! Thats true, alot of contries tried to make this work, and were not able due to materials which couldnt withstand this configuration at supersonic speeds. USA had to abandon this idea because of that. Due to Russian expertise with metal alloys they were able to get it to work, without plane disintergrating during manevers and supersonic speeds.

FYI - the US was using advanced composites and alloys long before. Ever heard of the SR-71? Oh, you have? Well do you actually know what its made out of? Try making leading edges that can withstand mach 3+ speeds (in 1970s) and return to do it again tomorrow and then we'll talk about expertise.

Exactly. I was just saying that the reason they never moved the X-29 into production was not due to problems with wing strength at all. The x-29's composite wings with aluminum/titanium frames were plenty strong. According to NASA's website about the project they say something like, "The concept did not provide the maneuverability initially expected." I think they improved subsonic, but were inferior at supersonic... or maybe it was the other way around... dont remember exactly.

Thats the whole thing, no one dog fights at supersonic speeds, if lets say a F22raptor tries to launch a missle at Su-47, the plane would easily be able to get out its way because the missles turn rate as not as good as the plane's turn rate. Same goes for projectile weapons, besically SU-47 would have a much easier time to get into firing position. I know alot of people think that in modern combat dog fighting is absolete, and manervability means nothing, its not the case in real life.

Eh I dunno, weapons like the AIM-9X, Python 5, and Archer might have something to say about turn rates and in-fighting. Most engagements are done BVR, but a smart person plans for all aspects of a fight. Vietnam taught that lesson VERY well.

I read this article about few years back, about India and USA training together. India was using russian made Su-32s and USA used their F-16s, F-18s. They didnt use that system that feeds all battle information, identifies targets, lock on, besicaly does everything for the pilot. It was straight up all on pilot skill and know how, only using on board systems. Indian pilots beat USA pilots 8 out of 10 exersies. That was very embarasing. In prolonged war if these systems taken out. Game Over.
