There ARE laws against kinds of discrimination in Japan but they aren't enforced too strongly. The government needs to be put under more pressure to enforce these laws. I used to give hiring recommendations for my company when I worked in Kanagawa. There was one Japanese woman I put a strong word in for because she was VERY qualified for the job. Perfect candidate. I was later told her resume was thrown out because she was over age 34. Just an example of working discrimination here.

@junyo785 No, again you are wrong. Where are you getting your information? I have an Alien Registration Card. And don't tell me I am wrong about paying pension because I do it every month. Japanese citizenship is based on Jus Sanguinis, or blood. The only exception is when someone is born on Japanese soil and both parents are unknown. That rarely happens, if they know your parent is Korean you aren't obtaining Japanese citizenship, you are naturalized. There is a huge difference.

Unlike U.S.A., you cannot get a Japanese citizenship simply by being born in Japan.
Foreign residents in Japan keep their nationality at their own will. So, it would create more problems if the Japanese government forces Japanese citizenship on children of Korean or any foreigners in Japan.

Sure. At least we admit it. Korean media was the first to bring it up. And it's an ongoing process and it is being addressed and improved. What does Japan do? @2008venom And u don't think J-POP and J-ent don't have problems? Purlease. We don't hear that much about it because A) J-pop isn't as popular as before outside Japan. B) they keep it under the wraps. But we still hear about the sex scandals involving Arashi members and suicide of ex-idols, Johnny's CEO apparently sexually harassed a number of its talents, etc.... Japanese society overall has a problem with ousting truth. Be it politics or corp or ent. That's always been Japan's weak spot

Clean up the radiation ? Nobody in the world experienced atrocity by nuclear weapon and almost nobody had knowledge about radiation in those days...but government ordered Koreans to clean up it ? Crazy.
Usually government would not compensate for damage and loss caused by the war. But for victims of atomic bombs, they were treated specially for humanitarian reason. For Korean victims, South Korean government admitted that all compensation issues were solved in 1965.

@2008venom Japanese government knew. They and Germany were working on Nuclear weapon program during WWII. One of the captured German subs carrying such research was found along with Japanese crewmen by US warship. This is a fact. But of course they failed to complete it. US was the first to build such weapons and Soviet followed, then China and others but Japan had, and still have the knowledge of its full effect and how to put it together.

Humanitarian reason? Korean victims were not included. They were simply brushed aside and ignored. Japanese government, instead of paying those victims, decided to pay off the Korean government instead in fear of future lawsuits and reprisal. And Korean government kept their word and did not make such efforts. Civilian victims however is a different story. And much of their effort went unaided and even blocked by Korean government.

They teach pride and arrogance of how great their communist dictator leader and 'hopes' to one day return to North korea. Little do they know that North is Korea is a third-world shithole. Also Japan is a democracy and the government (although corrupt) was nice enough to allow funding to those zainchi north koreans to establish their school, but....

There ARE laws against kinds of discrimination in Japan but they aren't enforced too strongly. The government needs to be put under more pressure to enforce these laws. I used to give hiring recommendations for my company when I worked in Kanagawa. There was one Japanese woman I put a strong word in for because she was VERY qualified for the job. Perfect candidate. I was later told her resume was thrown out because she was over age 34. Just an example of working discrimination here.
