Could I ask why you have so many wide angle lenses?? Is it just an obsession due to obsession to landscape? I think if I had that much cash, id spend on some other stuff :)
hi there! i have a Nikon D90 and i focus my photography on Travel and Landscape. which among the lenses here is better for everyday use? i mean shoot here and there, eveywhere! i don't want to collect a lot of lenses, just the ones i need for the field of interest i want. please give me the right choice so that i could buy the right one(s) already. thanks!
Seems to me that the Tokina 11-16 would excel for both low-light and landscape photography. Unless you need the 24mm length, why would the 11-16 not be a good choice for low-light and landscape?
@awboater if you shoot low light without a tripod then the 11-16mm is a better choice but for ONLY landscape where a large f/stop is rarely used or needed the tokina 12-24mm is a better choice
I realize that tripods are often used for landscapes, but it seems to me that the 11-16mm would suffice for both uses, without having the need to buy both lenses.
What about the 11-16mm is a disadvantage?
For the record, I own the 11-16mm, and I did buy it over the Nikon 10-24 in part because of your reviews. I do take a lot of interior photos (cruise ships), but also often use the lens for landscape. And my kit lens starts at 18mm.
Which would you recommend for interior photography on my D7000? I would like to shoot images inside a chalet which is pretty cramped and low light... need also to shoot a fireplace, thanks!
I am looking into purchasing a wide angle lens however I am caught between the tokina 12-24 mm and the nikon 24 mm f/2.8D prime lens. Which one do you recommend and which one have a better image quality?
I am looking into purchasing a Nikon D90 and would like a wide angle lens to go with it. Which Tokina would be better for a beginner, and would they both work with auto-focus?
Great review! i would actually recommend that you stop banging those lenses on the table cos it makes my heart skip a beat everytime you do it. ouch! lol.
i asked you about the nikon earlier but it's way to up for my budget, i'm now stuck with the sigma 10-20 and tokina 12-24.. what do you think about the additional 2mm of sigma? will this give me big difference in terms of wideness??? thanks!!! :)
Can u suggest if its worth buying Sigma 10-20 f3.5 over Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6?? I am confused between Sigma and Nikkor Lens.. I do want the 10 mm wide FOV
so if the tokina 11-16 is ultra wide why is it not good for landscapes? softens in the higher apertures? focal range low? help! as this was a huge contender in my choice, my only downside to it was the 5mm zoom range. thanks for review
@KEEPitSTUPID it doesnt have a good focal range for landscapes, yes it gets wide but the tokina 12-24mm is a much more useful range for landscapes. focal range is a huge deal.
@QQQQcon Thanks for the reply, so with the extra sharpness gained by the short focal range you still recommend the extra length over cropping to suit composition?
Nice! But they are all zooms. What I'm waiting for is a large-sensor non-SLR, so I could use the best wide angle lenses ever designed: Aviogon, Biogon or Hologon. They cannot fit SLRs because their rear elements almost touch the image plane and the mirror would be in the way. SLRs were originally created as a necessary evil to enable TTL viewing. With digital sensors TTL is easily accomplished without mirror box (with its notorious mirror slap) and the pentaprism (with its bulk and weight).
A wide angle lens is the next lens I'm going to get and this review was really helpful. I'm definitely going to buy the Tokina 12-24. I'ts cheaper than the Nikon and much cheaper than the Sigma and considering the build quality and the way you praise the Tokina it's a no brainer for me and my wallet. Thanks mate.
i have my nikon d90 and i'm currently looking for good ol' wide angle lenses, which are the best ones in terms of travel, nature and general photography? please help!!!
I'm thinking about getting the upcoming Sony A55 which is a small camera. I really like the Tokina 11-16 best of all but I'm wondering if that lens might be too big for the A55?
wish you had compared these with the new sigma 10-20mm f3.5. it's supposed to be much better than the old one with a constant aperture of f3.5 so I think it would compete very well with the other lens. Please post a review of this lens if you get a chance. Thanks!
hey thanks for all the videos and hope that u can give us the elements that gets considered in judging photos in photography contests in the next vid !!
any thoughts on the sigma 8-16mm? thanks!

@abybryan havent used it. I will see if I can sometime
QQQQcon 1 week ago
The reason why people buy Sigma,Tamron and Tokina is because there much cheaper than the Nikon.
I have the Nikon 10-24mm and it is the sharpest lens and expensive out of the 5 lenses,
always buy the best if you can afford it.

Nikon 10-24mm Lens is the best out of all 5 lenses.

@QQQQcon Why; because it has a 24mm long end?

hi,
i am using d90 with tamron 10-24mm but i got some bad sharpness on corners.
nikkor 10-24mm to expensive so i am stuck with tokina 11-16, tokina 10-24 and sigma 10-20.
please advise.

lg123xyz 8 months ago
@lg123xyz tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
QQQQcon 8 months ago
@QQQQcon Thanks, should I worry about distortion and the 'fish-eye' effect of such a wide lens or better off with Tokina 12-24?
lg123xyz 8 months ago
@lg123xyz because of the shorter focal length the 11-16mm has less distortion than other wide angle lenses, like the 12-24mm.
QQQQcon 8 months ago
Was there a reason you included the Nikon 10-24m instead of the Nikon 12-24mm in this group?

does the tokina 12-24mm work with the d40? like as in the focus? i know the sigma 10-20 does not sure on the tokina tho

I tried the 11-16 on a D300 and didnt like it. I took it back.
At 11mm its nice, but at 16mm the image turns out overexposed or washed out. Flat. And I thought it was soft compared to my other Nikon lenses.
