ehy , just wondering if it is possible to get this treatment at advanced stages. I also would liek to know if it is going to be approved by the FDA soon ? can you get back to me, i also know my cornea strengh in both eyes and the level they are at. thanks
ive got this, and i had perfect vision before. i only miss a sky filled with stars.
its still on a low lvl so i find it facinating, when i watch a light i can see the colours it is made of etc. just found out, if i only use the top of the black stuff in my eye (holding something infront of the rest) my sight is still perfect, same if i use binaculars.
so if somone invent a lence blocking parts of my eye, it would be cure enough for me
@DrBoxerWachler nah. im not american. and i still got 1 functional eye (kinda) so its no biggie yet. just weird there are no such lences, assuming more people have vision like me. mass cell production at bottom creating double vision, and fine at top.
i can try chopping a pair of sunglasses in half xD see where that takes me
I've had this condition for the past 5 or 6 years at the advanced stage now but I haven't let it stop my passions of music (See my channel) and it shouldn't control your life either, stay positive and make adjustments to daily life if you have to!
@RishiP85 This is a great attitude. Keratoconus can really turn people's lives upside down. Being positive is very important especially until people have treatments.
How much does C3-R procedure cost? Im from Los Angeles, no matter how much internet searching, it never shows how much this procedure costs. Anyone have a general idea from experience?
@Hafazeh These are great questions. We have used Holcomb C3-R in advanced cases with good success. For Intacs, it depends on the cornea thickness which I assess directly myself to see if Intacs is appropriate. The FDA process is methodical and that takes time. We have been routinely been performing Holcomb C3-R since 2004 after we invented it in 2003. If you have questions, please call our office at 310-860-1900.
I wish that I found out I had keratoconus at a younger age so that it could have being treated. I have a severe case, I dont wear the large RPG's Scleral lenses because its more trouble than its worth and can damage the surface of the eye (they slide under my eye lid and it is hard to get out).
@GloomFate You need to get them Replaced. If not go to a different optometrist. My sister ,after 9 different pairs and three optometrist later she finally got ones that fit perfect.
@ultra78721 Thats the thing, I do not want to be in and out of optometrist's all the time. They always dilate my eyes and I cant find my way to the bus stop even with good sunglasses. Even if the contacts fit it still damages the surface of the eye.
By the time it is unbearable I should have saved enough money to go to a country that is leading in keratoconus research (prob the states)
know whats sa the first dude i went to suposodly a corneal specialist lied to me he told me i needed a corneal transplant which i dont all i need is the contacts and i can see like i was 14 years old again imagine that ... i think that doctor was jus knife happy
its very educative. my son also has the same problem and one eyesurgeon advised him for C3R. i want to know is this procedure safe? will it improve ? is there any risk for loosing more?
we chose c3r because its done with "epion vs epi off" so far so good. my sone received intac and ck and c3r. this doctor is the way to go even though we werre on the other side of the country. recover was immediate with no pain
its sad for me, i feel your pain. i was diagnosed a few weeks ago. the optometrist said he only just found it when he checked the curvature of my eye. i am seeing a specialist tomorrow, its dissapointing but ive heard that once they've fixed it your eye sight is normal because it only involves the cornea.
and one wierd thing is that he said that one in 6000 people get it but i know 3 people that have it! and the other wierd thing is, is that we lived near eachother.
Damn. Received a transplant in each eye in 2001 and 2002. I wish this technology was available then. There's a small chance I could develop Keratoconus again. I hope I can be a candidate for this procedure if it comes to it again.
wow, i thought that after the transplant its done with, but you could develop it again even after you have it done? ok that options out of the window for me.
My transplants came from donors, which was live tissue. In this case I don't think it would come back because you're not dealing with tissue. But in mine it could, but the chances aren't great. Do whatever your doc recommends. Better than losing your eye sight.
So after this do you still have to wear contacts. I'm in a So2 and Jupiter lens(in my bad eye)...This brought me to tears, to think it could cure this!!! I'm just sick I haven't thought to look on here sooner
I"ve had Keratoconus for 14 years got the contacts in the 2nd year. I'd say 8 years after that I developed an eye moisture problem from over use. I had to get My tear ducts plugged up & I have to apply a thick Vaseline like jelly directly to my eyes every night before bed or wake up with painfully dry eyes that cannot support the use of contacts and at its worst have trouble keeping my eyes open for long periods of time if I stop using the jelly for more than 2 days.
i`m suffering from thsi diesease adn i`m 21 i been usign teh hard contact lenses for a month and they no good i live in new zealand not sure if i can do this inhear.
Unfortunately it is not possible to dispense medical advise over the Internet (I wish it could!). The best advise I can give is to call your doctor and ask these same questions to him/her as your doctor knows your eyes better than me and should be able to answer your questions.
im from california about 2 hours from los angeles. i have this disease also and my eyes seem to be getting aloth worse. im a 23 year old male and i dont want my kids to not have a dad that cant do daily activities with. please send me some information about your place.. thank you very much
Thank you for this very informative video! I'm a keratoconus sufferer from Toronto, Canada and I'm interested in the C3-R procedure. Your the only clinic I've found so far that is willing to perform this procedure, so I have contacted you to receive more information on the pricing of such a procedure. I hope to hear from you soon, thanks!
do you wear hard contacts (RPG lenses) i've been wearing this lenses for more than 5 months they are good but not perfect. i have problem with light they are too sensitive to light, when i look at light source i see flaring or fog i can't even drive at night. my dr said it takes time to go away but i don't think it's gonna go away anyone experiencing that.
I wear the gas permeables, and have so for about a month and a half now. Their adjusting great so far fortunately. My left eye is much more severe than my right. Yes theres a bigger glare on light, especially at night, not so much when its really bright(I can rap) But seriously... I agree with you about it not going away, it probably won't, as both my eyes seem to be getting worse. Other than light, my vision seems to be great for now, I'm sure it will get worse though.
Us keratoconics have it rough, but were tough. Since theres really no cure, except for cornea transplant, rigid lens, soft lens, lens in general or intacs/C3-R, all of which do not to the fullest extent cure you of keratoconus as I've heard, and with the possibility of going blind, there is really only one other option right...? Yep, 12-gauge to the head baby
i've had my keratoconus for over a year now, and diagnosed a year ago in january. i'm thinking of either trying the riboflavin drops or using the intacs. i dread getting the full transplant done. gaah. my left eye is almost completely useless. i almost failed my driving test because i couldn't see out of my left eye.
I had a corneal transplant because of the Keratoconus on my left eye. Can I get Lasik surgery in left eye now?.. and how pricey is the intacts prodecure. my vision is terrible especially at night and my eyes are very light sensitive, what do you recommend?

Cross Linking along can not improve vision. Cross Linking along with Intacts will improve vision as well making the Cornea thicker.

Can or will the CR-3 correct vision by itself in some cases???

I am new to this bless
I have been wearing RGPs for about 2 months now , they bug me a little when it's dusty or windy.
I was asking is it safe to consider the C3R treatment ? or it's still young science waiting to evolve and make sure there are no side effects ?
