@MrTamaguy His surgeon? He and Gene need to sue their wig makers and hair replacement centers. Both of them have been rockin' various wigs and other baldness concealment systems since at least the early 80s. The full jet black wig looks absurd at this point. Where is the man's hairline? He must be a sweaty cue ball underneath that thing.
Come on guys, show Em some respect. Whats up with people, Kiss has always been about having a good time. They never share their their political views,(like so may other bands do)to the impressionable youth out their. Grunge messed up a whole generation of people. Anyone who knocks rock ledgends like KISS need to show a little RESPECT, these arent one hit wonder bands like the last 15 years of music has been.Smarten up. CORY
oh absolutely.... i remember worshiping these guys for years.... and i still enjoy them just out of nostalgia.... but now that i see through all the smoke and mirrors, i often listen to them talk crap and i just think what wankers they are now.
Thanks for the reply podoz. Yeah being a kiss fan sinse 1971 I caught thier act at the Baltimore civic center in 1976. I was 22. Having 3rd row center seats my sister said on a DARE hey how bout you go there made up like Paul. Well a dare was all I needed so I did. Honestly back then there was only one other person made up in that whole place other than me and it was some girl made up like Ace. There was this no name band warming up for them called Bob Seger and the silver bullett band.
To finish my thought I had to post again. Yeah back then I mostly admired Kiss for their gimmic and hype. When they finally shed the makeup. I realise why they put it on in the first place. Damn!!!! they wern't no Bon Jovi and thats for damn sure. But yeah they'll keep on keepin on like Gene and Paul do because they love it and the bucks come a rollin in but the music in my opinion was bland nothing close to clapton or Mark Knophler or ac/dc who opened for them many times. Cheers!! Podoz
you sure you've been a fan since '71? seeing as they didn't get together till '73! :-) Or do you mean you were a fan of wicked lester?
Wow, i would have killed to see them in '76, that was the year i got into them, my brother gave me dressed to kill for my birthday, i was just a little kid. I saw them in melbourne australia in 1980 (unmasked).... it was ok, but to see them in '76 would have been amazing.... that's the real thing.... i'm jealous!
no man 71 we saw them locally in real small venues way before dressed to kill came out. The dates I may be unsure of but damn it was a while ago I'm 54 now. Hell I cant remember what I had for breakfast for crying out loud but I do remember my steelers winning something but I forgot
dressed to kill came out in '76 but their first album came out in '74. They formed in '73, they were definately not playing anywhere as kiss in '71!! If you saw them in '76 did you see the destroyer show? that would have been awesome.
73 I graduated. I didn't think it was the same year but like I said alot of dead brain cells ago but. After Ace left the band he would travel down the east coast with the commets and do bars alot back then also. Talk about a crazy time to be there...Take care Podoz
man I just took the time to read your entire post. I spent over a year down under on business from 95-2001 installing machinery for two major companys down there called Visy Bord and Amcor Fibre packaging. What a great bunch of drunkin sons a bitches the aussie are. I enjoyed every day I had down there. Caught AC/DC in Adelaid in damn 99 I think it was. Nice brew down there CROWN LAGER when I had extra money and VB when I did'nt great place no doubt
do you live down under Podoz ?? in melbourne maybe because you did say you saw Kiss there. I stayed in the city there in melbourne one year and worked in a place called Brooklyn like new york . Man shitty part of town but that melbourne zoo was wild now. I think the hotel was on lygon street damn now Iam trying to resurect some dead brain cells
hell yeah I remember blowing out of Pennsylvania in November and coming home in March in 96-97-98. Told winter to kiss my butt I'm headed for summer. Saw alot of Australia back then..everywhere from tazzie to fremantle
This reply is for KENVAIL - It's not that Paul thinks nobody wants a new KISS album. He knows they do. His stance is basically that people will tolerate a new KISS album, but will ultimately want to hear the classics, instead. And I agree with him. I would love a new KISS album myself, but would probably prefer the classics. But I do understand where you're coming from.
One more note: When KISS was doing the bonus studio tracks for KISS ALIVE 2,the band had studio recording time constraints,Frehley came up missing only to be found in the studio lobby passed out drunk. Bob Kulick to the rescue. Bob came to the studio immediately and for the record had to step over the drunken, passed out Ace Frehley to enter the recording studio. Personally speaking, I'd much rather have a proven asset in the band rather than a constant liability.
one important question would be if u guys really wanted to do one last show with the original lineup at the Shea or Yanquee stadium...that would be a nice thing to end with. In the meantime u guys can still tour with Eric and Tommy for a while. it´s all cool!!!
I don't argue with most of that - But "KISS" is flogging a dead horse.
Case in point - They've now re-recorded a bunch of "classics" with Tommy and Eric (who are not band members, but contracted, salaried players) so that when songs get licensed to ads, products, promotions, etc., you'll hear something that sounds like the original, but they'll no longer have to PAY anyone but themselves. It's scheckel-hoarding nonsense. Charlatans. A shame.
35 years in the music business, still playing huge arenas, and a SOLD OUT Euro tour (where people know Tommy and Eric will be playing). That's what you'd call "flogging a dead horse?" It doesn't matter who's in the band, people still want KISS....as proven by this SOLD OUT tour. The people have spoken, as Gene says. But thanks for sharing your thoughts....
Great comment! In the the 35 years, how many years were Ace & Peter members? Hey Paulie 88 Ace & Peter re-union and Psycho Circus,Farewell tour were contracted players as well. I suggest you read this book: "KISS BEHIND THE MASK". You'll be in for a big surprise. Destroyer, Dick Wagner was summoned for duty while Ace was nursing a bottle.Ever heard of Bob Kulick? He saved the band studio embarrassment countless times, due to Frehley's addiction with the bottle.
i just don't like how paul says no one wants a new kiss album, that's lame. in their heyday they'd put out 2 a year! i don't care much for pure nostalgia i like to hear new things as well.
KISS is "flogging a dead horse"?? Are you fucking kidding?? As just one example, tell that to all the fans in Greece that saw them FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER!!
While I'm very happy for them (I have many friends there!) for having gotten a great show, it's just a facsimilie of the real thing. Sorry you folks have such a hard time with an informed opinion, my opinion is no or less valid than your own. I wish you all the best, regardless.
Paulie, I honestly see your point of view. KISS is not KISS without Ace, although KISS in it's current incarnation is better than no KISS. I respect your opinion. Sorry for the outburst, as i'm having a rough day taking care of a 'special needs child' here.
