I've heard a few versions of who this song was inspired by - some say it was the singer's guitar teacher's passing, others a friend who committed suicide - could anyone who knows please clear this up for me? I love this song, it's easily one of my favourites of all time, and I feel that I would appreciate it even more if I understood where they were coming from.
This song is absolutely mind blowing. Such powerful lyrics, without a doubt my favourite song of all from my favourite band of all. Someone said in another video from another artist something very true, it's a shame we live in a world where company pawns with no talent of the likes of justin bieber/ lady gaga or garbage rappers that are singing for the money and sold their souls to the industry, can get dozens of million of vues in their videos, but true artist that write and perform their own song with heart can barely get ahead of half a million views. People can't recognize talent when they hear it.
@Alkhoren That's the sad truth. But, consider how many people go on said music videos to dislike them? Justin beiber's song 'baby' has loads of views; but over half of them are dislikes. Also, it's the minority of youth that listen to crap music. Good artists like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace (in my opinion) have loads of views!
Hope is not yet lost; as long as brilliant music like this is being produced there is hope for passionate, true music.

The fact that it's impossible to turn on the radio or watch music channels without bubblegum-pop crap being there doesn't help. But there is still great music being made. Think of it this way, in 20 years or so will names such as Lady Ga Ga be remembered? I doubt it. But Queen, a band that stopped touring years ago is still loved. Sound gets 5 minutes of fame. Music gets remembered.

Anyone can know queen simply for we will rock you or we are the champions, not many young people know of Iron maiden, mettalica or other old rock bands. The other trap is to believe that all that is old is good.

@Alkhoren Too true. Anyone who hasn't been living under a rocks knows of Queen; but it takes a fan to know and love the albums like innuendo and a night at the opera. Honestly I'm not particularly into stuff like mettalica myself, nethertheless I respect the band. Obviously not all old music is good. There is no perfect gereration of music. I'm already thought of as a hipster as I'm pretty much the only one at my school to like both old and new rock, rather than club music and pop.

I don't know about you but i usually listen one or two song from an artist. There is just Alter bridge from which i listen to everything quite often, you know of it ? They are quite underrated, but the singer myles kennedy did a tour with Slash himself. So they're getting recognized as the great.

It's still sad that most teens, say 70%? Follow the crowd. I generally hop from band to band when it comes to music but once I like a band I buy all their songs. Someone said in another video from another artist something very true, it's a shame we live in a world where company pawns with no talent of the likes of justin bieber/ lady gaga or garbage rappers that are singing for the money and sold their souls to the industry, can get dozens of million of vues in their videos, but true artist that write and perform their own song with heart can barely get ahead of half a million views. Also, it's the minority of youth that listen to crap music. Good artists like Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace (in my opinion) have loads of views!
Hope is not yet lost; as long as brilliant music like this is being produced there is hope for passionate, true music.

The fact that it's impossible to turn on the radio or watch music channels without bubblegum-pop crap being there doesn't help. But there is still great music being made. Think of it this way, in 20 years or so will names such as Lady Ga Ga be remembered? I doubt it. But Queen, a band that stopped touring years ago is still loved. Sound gets 5 minutes of fame. Music gets remembered.

Anyone can know queen simply for we will rock you or we are the champions, not many young people know of Iron maiden, mettalica or other old rock bands. The other trap is to believe that all that is old is good.
And most likely our children will think we're just hipsters liking old rock bands. That's the way things goes i guess.

Honestly I'm not particularly into stuff like mettalica myself, nethertheless I respect the band. Obviously not all old music is good. There is no perfect gereration of music. I'm already thought of as a hipster as I'm pretty much the only one at my school to like both old and new rock, rather than club music and pop.
