  • do you prefer Lionel Legacy or MTH DCS?

  • I like the both for different reasons.

  • It may be a little off-topic, but will a TIU work for DC transformers if you want to run HO or G Scale trains? Or for AC transformers only?

  • I have no idea. Probably not.

  • @KingofTomedy they do run for g scale thats what they were made to do but some people use the tiu for o scale

  • @ocrailfanner1995 My first comment is now out-of-date. I did hook up a DC transformer to my TIU on my HO track for my MTH HO Union Pacific SD70ACE #1989. And everything works! Although the softkeys don't work, I might need to update the TIU and/or a new transformer to make the softkey functions work.

  • @KingofTomedy what transformer do you have

  • @ocrailfanner1995 I use 4 Lionel Powerhouse power supplies, which supply a constant 18 volts to the track. I don't use the kind of transformers with the knobs for adjusting power because those aren't necessary when using DCS and TMCC

  • i have 3 old school lionel zw transformer will they work with the mth tiu or should i up grade to the new zw with 180 wat brick

  • Yes, they will work. But you may want to get some in-line circuit breakers because the circuit breakers on the old ZW's might not be fast enough to prevent damage to the TIU during a short. But yes, they will work just fine.

  • how much does that remote go for?

  • The remote alone lists for $150. The entire system, which contains the TIU and the remote, lists for $300.

  • i have a atlas engine with tmcc, work the same as the lionel tmcc ???

  • Yes.

  • Can you lash-up a tmcc engine with a mth dcs engine?

  • Nope.

  • Eric do u know how to operate a non camand control equiped linel engion off the cab 1 remote. can u respond or even better make a video. thanks

  • The controller in this video is not a CAB-1, it's a DCS remote made by MTH. I do, however, know how to run a conventionally powered engine from the DCS remote. Is that what you want to see?

  • yagh could u show me even though its DCS it will still help and give me an idea. thanks

  • I'll see if I can put together a video for that. I don't normally run any conventional engines, so it may take a while for me to put a video together demonstrating how to do it.

  • yep i love that engine, i love the UP colors with the flag on the side, the sounds are really nice, grrr it will eat me up until i can afford one

  • I want this engine so badly, but im guessing its pretty dang pricey.

  • The UP engine in this video? I think it was around $400.

  • Eric..YOUR the MAN..thank-you
