For those doubters on the new Civic, I bought the LX and am already getting an average of 42-44 mpg with it. It may not be the best looking car on the outside, but driving one makes up for it.
Not impressed, the front is ugly and the back looks like older model camry. still no push button start avl on hondas.. wow ford and hyundai are passing you by big time
Everyone I have a 2000 Acura Integra GSR with 168,000 miles. Should I sell my car or trade in for a 2012 Honda civic Si coupe/Sedan ? I want more power I think I should move up to something more. I like Honda's so I'm thinking of getting a new civic. Please let me know what you think ? I'm not sure how long my Acura Integra will last even I take good care of its maintenance yearly. Thanks !
previous sedan look better 2012 coupe is better looking but what I most hate about the new 2012 civics is that radio!!!!! damn it can't get any uglier : /
I think u meant the Hyundai Elantra, sonata is In a completely class. Its like comparing a Toyota sequoia and Toyota rav4. Anyway I really do like the styling of the Elantra. The only drawbacks of the Elantra is the lack of headroom for people over 5. 10. While the civic doesn't sacrifice that. Check out Hyundai Elantra review by roadfly.
@18switchfoot not bad for a refresh, but if this is full redesign... very disappointed, the new elantra is much better looking than this, and equipment options are light years ahead of this, i think even the new kia rio (i know its not in the same category and not as nice) has better equipment options than this at a better price, mileage is still close to good here, but still... japs have to pick up the pace here, in a few more years, koreans will beat them at it.
I agree! I'm disappointed that the Honda civic didnt receive the 6 spd automatic. But Honda usually takes the conservative approach in not radically redesigning cars until the time is right.
It still looks like the outgoing model. They only changed certain things. I'm surprised that honda didn't change the engine and put a 6 speed auto in for 2012. The new hyundai elantra is better, imo.
Sorry but as an automotive engineering student I have to say that the price they are asking for vs. what kind of rare metals will be utilized in key engine and suspension components as well as more high strength steel applications. The use of more rare and expensive higher grade steel provides exceptional chassis rigidity which offers more direct handling inputs that are more precise and predictable.
@18switchfoot I can understand $19K for an EX but $19K for of an LX is asking too much, maybe it is because of the low supply from japan? I am getting a new Corolla, got my last 2010 Corolla LE for $17K drive out with almost the same features.. maybe it has gone up a $1000 but this civic price is disappointing, I was almost ready to buy a civic.
@LTF85199 I do not expect the average Joe to look at the engineering improvements like 10% increase in high strength steel application and 7% reduction in weight on top of better suspension geometry for best in class dynamic handling limits.
@KeepingModern Actually, I am not an average Joe, in fact i am a mechanical engineer., all improvements are great but pricing is also an important aspect in product engineering. and I just drove the tiny thing today... there were wanting 22.5K for the LX version.. just totally surprised me... good thing the competition is priced far better..
yaris hatch 2012 is 10x better!

Civic design doesn't need of revolutions, I just love his timeless style so simply and clear. A complicate design get old in few years.

One thing that sucks is that on the sedan manual transmissions are only available for DX & LX. The coupe also makes the manual available on the EX.

@LTF85199 well that particular civic is the EX. The LX is 18,999. Toyota corolla has the same price but less features.

@18switchfoot Also, if u think about it, a Honda could easily last you 20 years, so It's worth it.
