How do you comp behind yourself without a bass like that, it seems you are only using arpegiation of the 1 and 5 in the left hand and outlining the chords with your improv in the right. Is that it?
Love it! How long have you been playing piano or training to play it like this? Have you some advice to train it? Because I'm playing it in a bossa nova-like version, but yours sounds really marvellous.
It's so good, it sounds like a bonus track or alternate take from one of the first two Return to Forever albums...which are my favorites. Thanks for putting this up!
Lovely. Damn I think I need a left hand like yours. Love the way it flows and the melodic content. I will be trying to see bout the parallel structures more after seeing this. Thanks for the insight yet again.
lot2learn, that was a great solo performance of a difficult song. I love your chord changes and voicings. I hope you have a tutorial on your chord voicings. It is always a pleasure listening to you
Though it may be (subtly) evident that solo is less of a comfort zone for you (or, that you haven't done this as much as in a rhythm section), it is also evident that you have a solid concept and instinct happening. Although not my solo style, my favorite solo piano video on YT (believe it or not) is KJ's Solar, which is more the direction you seem to come from. Can't beat that! Keep doing this, and the bugs will work out. Hope to see more! *****
Very nice job. Solo piano is so hard to pull off and you managed it very successfully in this tune. The music from Black Orpheus is just brilliantly composed as you know. The Pianoteq settings in this do sound quite good as well! Thanks for posting this :)
You're right, I'm not used to hearing you in a completely solo context, but as you put it, you "hit it" on this one. Very nice! The pianoteq software sounds really nice, and your playing is as usual on a high level! Thanks for the post! I dig this tune.
I love this,thx
