I'm sorry but 6.0 is superior to 2.6 in every way. There is no reason not to use it except for that it's not an official download and is thus slightly harder to obtain.

I've got as far as downloading the file from mediafire and extracting it. Copying it and I don't have that directory - I can get as far as C:\Program Files(x86) but there isn't a MOVIE MAKER option so can't copy the files there? where do I put them now that they are downloaded and extracted?
