  • Oh, Keith, believe me, I'd marry that lot.

  • close right pete thats why you called him a queen who was having an affair w/ oliver reed soon after he died..nice memoriam

  • @MoPower2112 exactly what I was thinking

  • Comment removed

  • Wait this isnt a monty Python skit?

  • @MoPower2112 I think we were all thinking that, Moon even has a python-esque quality to him

  • Oh Keith and his heroic doses of drugs what a king.

  • @fantasypgatour hopefully you're being sarcastic. otherwise, you're a very naive youngster.

  • one of the greatest rock bands ever

no one today can touch them...............

    nobody

  • OH KEITH LEAVE ME ALONE!

  • Keith would be great as an actor for monty phyton movies, woldn't he?

  • @KISSForever52 awww dude i thought the exact same thing haha

  • ... one of the best rock interviews of all time.

  • "CAN'T TOUCH THE INTERVIEWER, CAN WE?"

  • THE WHO WOULD KICK THE SHIT OUT OF THE SEX PISTOLS MAYBE JUST ROGER BY HIMSELF WOULD WHOOOPP ALL THEIR ASSES ON HIS OWN

  • full of piss and vinegar LEGENDS

  • Keith´s face at 3:50 :))

  • I think that the interviewer is genuinly afraid of keith!! And with good reson!!!

  • a rust repairer and full time survivor long live keith moon

  • I cant understand this at all!

  • Keith definitely just undressed....

  • Pete "We started off as ..."

Keith "A small family butcher firm ! "

xD Keith , you such a legend !

  • Roger controlled the rest of the group with an iron fist as he was the only one who was not an alcoholic or heavily into drugs, if he was the history of The Who would have been totally different and they would have broken up in 67-68.

The drinking and being high was no good when they were on stage, it may be fun to see the anti-heros now, but remember that if Roger was also drugged up and pissed they would have broken up long before this..

    Funny to watch though

  • I love how it's pretty much just Keith and Pete talking the whole time

  • I think this is the greatest video I have ever seen on earth

I can't tell you how many times I've watched this XD

  • The best interview I ever saw from a rock band! Amazing entertaining, totally chaotic.

    Wonderful!!!!

  • Keith and Pete are hilarious :)

  • Pete is my favourite :) no matter how cute Roger is, no matter how... awesomely different Keith was [:)], and no matter how calm John was, Pete will always be my favourite -3

  • Hmmmmm Keith stripping, I loved it ;)

  • harrrrrrr..........

  • haha Keith Moon, the 7th member of Monty Python. Love his reaction when he realises he cracked up the interviewer :)

  • Keith Moon was totally sexy! He gets me horny all the time!

  • "Keeeiiithhhh, leave me alone!" Sounds like he was talking to a disobedient dog. That's probably what working with Keith was like :/

  • Hahahahaha WOOOOOOOOOOOOW THIS IS JUST GREAT I LOVE IT!!! I also love it when Keith starts to bite and to rip the sleeve open of Pete!!! I wounder what has happend to the interviewer his clothes, I am sure they've ripped his nice gorgious 70ies shirt with that big penny collar to shredded rags too, it's only a pitty we can't see any of this!!! I sure would love to have seen it! ;)

  • Yep, Keith was waaasteeed, for sure

  • I would have loved to have been in the audience for this interview.

  • LOL

  • Ugly ass pants.

  • Why did Keith bite Pete and John? But it was hilarious! :)

  • HILARIOUS. thats all i can really say.,

  • hahahahahahahahaha. i laughed my ass off when keith and pete were talking at the same time. XD LOL!

  • LOL I love how Roger never has a shirt on

  • LOL I love how Roger never has a shirt on

  • Comment removed

  • keith and pete are like a married couple omg

    this is hilarious

  • Pete Townshend was a brilliant guitarist ! i tell you fucking what , you dont get guitarists and songwriters like him now adays , ur talking out of ur japseye

  • i love that the whole thing is out of control before the interview even begins! X-) Russell Harty is about three-quarters of the way through a nervous breakdown by the end of it. Hilarious!

  • Russell Harty was Gay.. Notice how he starts

sweating bullets when Keith starts pointing:" How LONG have YOU been married!?"

Moonie had him.. Notice how the interview ends all of a sudden... The Who were smart motherfuckers...Kinda rapidly goes downhill once the "Tommy" money comes rolling in, though...

  • pete townshend was a fucking good guitarist. Solo's mean jack shit, if they did we'd all be listening to fucking yngwie malmsteen and shit like that. you ask some fret wanker to play a riff like pete townshend, won't happen.

  • LOL "youre all married arent you?"

    "NO NO NO NO NO"

    "I WOULDNT MARRY THIS LOT!"

These guys are effin hilarious together

  • haha what a crazy interview

  • lol did keith really flash him

  • @theedictofworms i bet so, it keith!

  • LOL!

  • I love how all the best bassists in rock history like Entwhistle and John Paul Jones have such a great sense in cool in interviews.

  • Keith was a real rock star!

I love how he reacts when Roger puts his foot near his face... xD

  • how do you not love these guys?

  • haha ... john's so chilled. he just doesn't give a fuck

  • Keith and Pete had to have been stoned during that interview

  • @kmbass93 I was rather under the impression that Keith was on something else entirely....

  • 1:27 - 1:32 I LOVE HOW ROGER PUTS HIS FOOT IN HIS FACE!!! XD

  • was this after they played "Relay"?

  • Comment removed

  • @TheAltoQueen No, Roger Daltrey's way hotter. :P

  • KEITH STRIPPING OH MY GOD

  • KEITH IS SO FUNNY

  • LOL, the four of them are just like brothers. That explains why they lasted so long (and had so many fights).

  • "Scab," lol.

  • my favorite band!!

  • @asmorgan88-Harrison isn't the only musician in the beatles. McCartney can play bass phenomenally, he's not too shabby on guitar (solo on taxman), he's an excellent pianist, a pretty good drummer (Keith moon complented his drumming), and a good producer (he pretty much co produced sgt pepper and abbey road)

  • I LOVE KEITH!LOL!

  • from 2:20 to 3:37 ??????

  • "So you've been together 10 years now."

    "Yeah, I'm leaving."

    :3

"You see, the great thing about The Who is that we're all incredibly nasty."

  • LOL love The Who.... keith moon the best drummer ever could be better........... u cant beat a rust reparer

  • This must be the most wonderfully nonsensical interview ever conducted.

  • 0:01-5:55 are the best parts

  • 0:00-5:55

  • the interview seems more like a Monty Python skit :^)

  • @atomicwendy DUDE ITS LIKE SPINAL TAP.

  • THAT INTERVIWER HAS MET LOTS OF AWESOME PEOPLE, DAVID BOWIE, the who, ac/dc, the doors!!

    lucky guy

  • watching this interview, it's hard to belive that they didnt get along. they seem like great friends having a good time here :)

  • at this time they actually liked each other. the "hater-phase" was in the very beginning, but they got better together with their second album :)

  • This is soooooo funny! These guys are crazy! The Who rock!

  • Don't ever f**k with The Who! They're the greatest rock band ever. Respect!!

  • This is all just a lot of silliness, (besides "Pete=1 of the best songwriters of all time") Moon is so clearly out of his mind and dysfunctional here. None of them would be where they were without Pete. On some level, regardless of the other members of the Who, and this is not to discredit them (As I love them all) Pete would be succsessful as a musician/songwriter or maost anything he tried. To say he is not a good guitarist is ridiculous. Would you prefer Jeff Beck with the Who?

  • Not at all - but if I wanted to listen to a band for their guitar work, I wouldn't pick The Who...

To say he is a good guitarist is ignorant...he may have been one of the most influential, but...he was not one of the bests.

He was not articulate on the guitar, was a TERRIBLE lead guitarist (fantastic rhythm guitarist), and shouldn't be held in the same regard as Clapton, Beck, Page, Hendrix etc.

He just wasn't a good lead guitarist...to say he was...you may as well claim Cobain was too...

  • @asmorgan88

being a "good" lead guitarist doesn't mean you have to play blistering leads and quick runs all the time. Townshend plays tasteful runs in the context of the music, and it takes a great guitarist to be able to do that. listen to "see me, feel me" at woodstock and tell me if anyone else couldve thought and played that like Townshend did. He's on in a million and a damn good player.

  • screw you dude

  • @asmorgan88

he doesn't need to be a great guitarist. The who have a perfect blend of everything, and considering Pete is a huge part of the songs they wrote and millions of people have fallen in love with, I would say he is a great musician. And that's really what the who needed and were recognized for, they were all amazing musicians.

  • @TwinArsonists

    Pete was a great songwriter.

Wasn't a great musician though. He couldn't even master his own instrument.

    There's a difference.

He's one of the best songwriters ever, but it's a fucking stretch to say he's one of the best musicians ever.

Jeff Beck is one of the best guitarists, but he's not one of the best musicians.

  • @asmorgan88

he did master his instrument, just not in the way you think it should be mastered. The reason he is an amazing musician (he was) is because he was able to recognize when to put just the right sound in just the right place. And you're absolutely right to say that he wasn't the greatest guitarist of all time, many guitarists are far better than he is, however pete knew he didn't need to play his guitar like that. He played and mastered the guitar the way he wanted to. The way he loved

  • @asmorgan88

and therefore is an amazing musician. I didn't say he was one of the best. But he was amazing, and obviously you are not a musician or you would understand that it doesn't take wicked fast riffs and 20 min long solos to make a great guitarist or any instrumentalist for that matter. To be a great musician one must understand the needs of the sound. The who's sound didn't need beck or page, it needed a rhythm guitarist who allowed the other sounds to come out. Pete townshend

  • @TwinArsonists

Pete Townshend is not a great musician.

He is however, one of the best songwriters of all time & he's also one of the best RHYTHM guitarists ever.

    But he can't play lead.

In order to be a great GUITARIST you can't just be a solid rhythm or lead guy...you need to be solid with both. Pete's not.

So, if he can't master his own instrument he's not a great MUSICIAN.

Great rhythm guitarist, great songwriter...but he's by no means a great musician, or a great all around guitarist.

  • @TwinArsonists

You're right - you don't need to play spitfire solos to be a good guitarist. You need to be able to play rhythm effectively, as well as play a good lead part.

Pete didn't need to be a great guitarist for The Who to be great.

He needed to do what he did & yeah, he had the ability to hone in on the SOUND the band needed.

You can say he's a great songwriter, he clearly is.

But he wasn't a good guitarist.

And when you can't master your own instrument, you're not a great musician.

  • @asmorgan88

dude, he did master his guitar, in the way he wanted. That is the point of joining a band and playing music, it's not for the attention or media, it's for the music. You play the music you want because you love it. Pete loved playing his guitar the way he did, and therefore did master his instrument. Just because he doesn't play or master his guitar the way you think he should does not mean he is not a good guitarist. Again I say, You're obviously not a musician. play what you love

  • @TwinArsonists

I'm quoting Townshend himself, my friend.

He'll be the first to tell you that he's struggled his entire career in expanding his style & playing. He'll be the first to say that he's not in the same league as his peers in regards to being a guitarist.

Pete did not "master" the guitar. He was only versed in rhythm playing, damn good rhythm playing, but in order to "master" your instrument you have to at least be diverse enough to flourish...and he never did.

  • @TwinArsonists

I'm not a musician. I just play guitar.

    There's a big difference.

The Ramones, for example, weren't fucking musicians...they just played music.

Yeah, being popular & being "good" are two entirely different things.

Keith Moon is a better drummer than Ringo, but The Beatles are clearly the better band. Jeff Beck is better than Page, but Zeppelin is far more popular.

To be a "good" guitarist, you have to at least be able to play rhythm & lead solidly. Pete has never done that.

  • @TwinArsonists

In order of preference, my favorites are Ramones, The Beatles, Yardbirds, & The Who...but I wouldn't say that The Ramones are better musicians than The Beatles, I could never have the audacity to claim that Townshend is one of the greatest guitarists, & I wouldn't say that The Yardbirds are better than Zeppelin.

To me, The Ramones are the best ever...but they're not better than The Beatles...just as I love The Yardbirds, I don't think they're better than LZ.

  • @TwinArsonists

The Who is one of the best bands, & Townshend is one of the best songwriters ever...but you can't be taken serious going around claiming that he's a great guitarist.

NOW - I FUCKING LOVE HIS GUITAR WORK. I think he's awesome.

BUT HE'S NOT ONE OF THE ELITES. He's not a good guitarist.

There shouldn't be any problem admitting or recognizing that - it's also why I love The Ramones...because they weren't "good", or virtuosos, or too over-achieving.

  • @asmorgan88

Like I said before in an earlier post, he is not the same type of guitarist as most guitarists of the time. But he was a far better musician. And buddy, the who, far better technically than the Beatles, like miles better. The Beatles didn't do anything different than every other band of their time, they were just really good at what that style of music of the time was. The Who's music is far more technical than the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and the rolling stones. If you take one

  • @asmorgan88

instrument from the who and play one of their songs, except maybe one or two unison parts, it's total giberish. All their parts fit together like an orchestra. That can be said for Entwistle's bass, Moon's drums, Pete's guitar and Roger's vocals. To do this every member of the band has to think of music as a puzzle and they can only fill in certain pieces. The Beatles had no concept of balance and timing or of basic musical theory until late in each of their musical carers. Led

  • @TwinArsonists

Exactly - The only musician in The Beatles was George Harrison.

They're great - but not necessarily for musicianship. I mean...Lennon is great for his songwriting, signature voice & rhythm playing...but he sucks playing lead, like Townshend.

But I agree - The Beatles were just media darlings to an extent, but, considering musicianship...George Harrison was a great one.

Moon was just a great drummer...musician? Eh...

ENTWISTLE was the musician in the group.

    Pete was the ARTIST.

  • @asmorgan88

Zeppelin took pages riffs and made that a highlight, they didn't understand the puzzle of music either, their a fuckin great band and I love their music but they are not near the class of musicians the who were. The Who developed harmonies, melodies, counter melodies, key changes, chord balance, sound balance, solis and solos. Dude, Their all fuckin amazing musicians, any classical music listener would look at me sideways and tell me Beethoven was far more important than the who

  • @TwinArsonists

I don't know much about Zeppelin - but I do know that The Who were all better than them. From what I've heard from them, Bonzo is a cheap Moon imitation...and, quite frankly, John Paul Jones isn't anywhere near The Ox. Robert Plant is fucking terrible too.

I spent a good 3 years listening to NOTHING BUT The Who. I'm not exaggerating...I know their entire catalog by heart.

I've always been floored by Entwistle & Moon...Townshend too, but certainly not for his guitar playing.

  • @asmorgan88

... and they would be right, he was revolutionary. And even though the who do not reach Beethoven's level, they are still the best musicians to ever grace rock n' roll. And I can feel great and right in saying that because no band has managed to do what they did with music from 1900 to now. Excluding Jazz and blues of course. And with all due respect "asmorgan88", playing a guitar is no grounds to say a person hasn't mastered their instrument. Even if they struggle with getting out

  • @asmorgan88

their style does not mean they haven't mastered their instrument. With your standard of mastery, page wasn't a master, clapton wasn't a master and johnny winter wasn't a master. This would also mean Carlie Parker wasn't a master and neither was JJ Johnson or Y Cliffe Gordon or even Robert Johnson. I suggest you revise your definition and your understanding of music. Again, I say this with all due respect but, you're wrong about the who not being great musicians, you're really wrong

  • @TwinArsonists

Page can play lead & rhythm very effectively. He's one of the better ROCK guitarists. He's not Segovia, but you can't really compare something like that to rock & roll...he's one of the best rock guitarists for sure.

Clapton can only play the blues...he fucking sucks.

    Don't take me so literally.

    Townshend was a great songwriter...not a great guitarist...therefore, I don't think you can say he's a great musician.

    Great songwriter? Absolutely...

    Great ARTIST? Fuck yeah...

  • @asmorgan88

say that all you want bud, their amazing musicians, and if you know them as well as you claim you would understand that. You're wrong. sorry.

  • @TwinArsonists

I'll continue to have The Who as one of my favorite bands, & I will continue to think of them as being great.

"Musician" is thrown around too much, & pretty much applies to anyone who makes music.

Keith playing drums doesn't make him a musician.

Roger singing songs doesn't make him a musician.

Pete not mastering his own instrument is not being a "good" musician.

They all play music. I guess that makes them musicians.

But lacking diversity in your playing lacks musicianship.

  • @asmorgan88

and this is why no one is taking you seriously or respectfully. Because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about. You have no idea what being a musician means. you really really don't get it. sorry dude.

  • @TwinArsonists

Sorry, my friend - but I know exactly what I'm talking about.

To me, being mediocre at your instrument doesn't make you a "great" musician.

His guitar playing is very lacking, he tries to outdo himself when he plays live, & he can only effectively play rhythm guitar.

To me, that's not being a "great" musician.

    He was a great songwriter.

    He wasn't a good guitarist.

So, that can't really make him a "great" musician, considering he fucking played it in The Who.

  • @TwinArsonists

Give credit where it is due - he's a great songwriter, & composer.

But he's not a good guitarist by any means.

So, how can that make him a "great" when he can't even diversely play?

He's been stuck on power chords, barre chords, & repetitive licks from one scale for his entire career, & he hasn't flourished - where's the musicianship there?

To be a "great" you have to be well-rounded, & effective at EVERYTHING YOU DO...his guitar playing is lacking, very lacking at times.

  • @asmorgan88 Boy, you have a serious problem. I am sorry

  • @TwinArsonists Do not worry. He does understand nothing of music

  • @asmorgan88 my brother is a musician, teaches saxophone in school and been laughed a lot while reading your comments. Pete is a great composer, make something out of nothing and on top of good quality is wonderful, is the largest, but also play the guitar and say that has not mastered his instrument to perfection is not is a musician? hahahahaha, sorry dude but before making ridiculous comments inform. Yourself not only talk

  • @irenepepusa

Oh boy - "my brother plays saxophone & gives lessons".

If you wanna talk about family musical merit, my mother's uncle is vice president of Berklee College of Music in Boston.

So, shut the fuck up, fuckstick.

I know exactly what a musician is - and yeah, if you're fucking limited in your playing, you haven't mastered the instrument.

It's like basketball - Kyle Korver is a hell of a 3 point shooter, but can't play defense or do anything else, thus making him a bad player.

  • @asmorgan88 Good!!! sorry i am a girl not a boy, and with respect tell you that your uncle is president of a large institution, makes you not be a connoisseur in music, do not you think?. Unfortunately ,the music is an abstract art and therefore lends itself to any "not understand" your opinion on something unnnknown. UMMMM.you are stubbom as a mule, that you look like Roger Daltrey, but he was more handsome and cute. hahahahahaha

  • @irenepepusa

    Your English is horrid.

I didn't comprehend any of that whatsoever...

  • @asmorgan88 Sorry, you speak spanish?......

  • he's not a good guitarist? you're a fucking joke. Townshend is not obsessed with himself. If he was, he'd fly solo without The Who. So get your fucking facts straight. desicrator1 is right. Keith, Roger and John wouldnt be anywhere in the music industry without Pete. go fuck yourself

  • fucking listen to some of Petes solos live. Search Young Man Blues live at leeds. Just listen. He's got about a 2-3 minute guitar solo in that

  • another thing, why are you bringing up Jimmy Page? Page is probably the greatest guitarist ever, but Pete is a much better songwriter

  • let me tell you something. its not all about how good someone is at their instrument. John is the greatest bassist, Keith is still the greatest drummer, and Roger is one of the greatest singers. But there's one thing you cant say and thats that Pete was a BAD guitarist. Thats bullshit and you know that. I know he wasnt a fantastic guitarist, but he could whip out a nice solo every once in a while.

  • Listen, I'm done discussing this because you're obviously barely listening to what I'm saying. what im trying to say is that he wasnt a bad lead guitarist at all. What do you mean by bad? Petes so underrated and I guess you're someone who underrates him

  • im done discussing this like i said.

  • @MikeBA10

True said. Pete isn't maybe the best solo-guitarist in the world (Even though he is fucking shit-good in Heaven and hell). But God, he is one of the best songwriters in the world.

  • @MikeBA10 he was a better son writer

  • @MikeBA10 i suppose your'e a better guitarist then pete?

  • @MikeBA10 Listen carefully to "Live at Leeds" and then eat those words.

  • @dougalmac54 i have listened to Live at Leeds many many times. I have it you little bitch

  • @MikeBA10 yeah besides the fact pete wrote most of the songs.. including vocals.

  • yeah I'm leaving :D

  • 0:12 "I'm terribly sorry about that."

God, the Who were hilarious during interviews (especially keith). they acted like jackasses in this interview, but theyre still the greatest and theyre funny

  • i love this. I love how russell harty kept his cool and dint slap moon in the face or something.

  • I think you're right, flummapa.

Experiment: the whole vid's almost funnier even with the sound turned completely down!

  • dont get me wrong now i love the who, but if keith moon always acted like this (even though its funny as hell) it must have been a pain in the ass after some time.

  • hmm, I have friends like that. an no, it's not annoying :P still funny :D

    (after like 5 years)

  • And Pete's still rubbing his knee at 3:13 !

  • I love it how Entwistle has absolutely no reaction to Moon's leg bite (as compared to Pete's yelp).

  • :10 um wtf HAHAHA

  • Yeah, there's likely six or eight guys in suits standing off to the side with clipboards making sure you say all the right words. The industry today is probably like having the proverbial gun to your head.

  • moon has ADD or something....

  • moon is high

  • any person who watches this and thinks that they are completely unfunny should STOP listening to the penis brothers and start enjoying REAL music from classic and legendary bands such as The Who. Not to mention all of 'em have some of the best humour ever.

  • they were in their 20's.

and they just seem like 4 guys having a little fun on TV. Stop being so anal and chill out.

  • great still shot at 5:54

  • "Ahty-fahty, 'ee was!"

  • How I love when the amp stack topples over!

    WHUMP! "Sorry, Russell!"

  • Yeah, you know it's gonna be carnage when the interview starts off like that. John and Roger just sat back and let the madness happen and why not, people take themselves so seriously.

  • classical band classical comedy

  • "Small family butchers firm" ahahaha!

  • lol its just keith moon being keith moon.

  • I wouldn't marry this lot!

    Priceless!

  • @andyboerger Yes! And the rejoinder: "How long you been married then?" Russell Harty was gay, as Moon well knew.

  • hahaha poor interviewer...
