great underrated tune. second only to "brick". i liked this song alot glad it was on the greatest soundtrack second only to "grease". p.s. to all the godzilla haters: "love him or hate him he is, was, and always will be THE KING." /G4L
Damn this is such a beautiful song, and there's no actual video for it... This should've really had a video... or at least been recognized more than it actually was...
It's too bad that such a great soundtrack had to be for such a terrible movie. I was 16 when the movie came out and I walked out of the theater with only one thought in mind: I MUST PURCHASE THIS SOUNDTRACK.
godzilla brings so many memories. saw it in theatres. this movie looked so awesome when i was a kid. id prolly watch it right now if it was on. i bought the soundtrack when i was 13 or so and it still resonates with me today
This is my favorite Ben Folds Five song. Reminds me of 1998 back when I was 16 and in summer school for being absent from actual school so much...... God that seems like a life time ago now...... I miss it.
wow. Ben's singing part isnt all that difficult, but still awesome, but then all of a sudden, the backing harmonies that totally blow you out of the water! no pun intended...
you have to admit (truly) this is a good ass song. if not screw you!!!! nah bt seriously though i love this song because its addictingly medelic. someone breath with me please.
Does anyone know if I can find somewhere in the net how to play this on piano? The beginning at least. I looked it up on YT and google, but found nothing:/
Hrm. So many literal translations of this song. Guess I'm more of a symbolism guy. Is there anywhere that has 100% confirmation to what the lyrics are?
The line "His eyes were wide and I saw two of me there"... I've always heard this as "I saw too me there"... as if he is looking into the eyes and seeing himself in this person. Just my interpretation I suppose, and those might not the proper lyrics.
I believe someone has just had a bit of an accident, possibly a diver. He is falling into a coma or something so as his vision fades everything gets a bit blurry. The second verse is from the perspective of the guy in the coma...
i think its about a guy who drowns, goes into a coma, and won't wake up. The drowning part is sort of plain, but the "ask me to pull through.... he probably can't hear you" points to a coma, at least to me
i've thought about what that song means over and over again and was couldn't figure it out, but still an amazing song. i like your idea on the lyrics. sounds like thats what its about.
Oh, a fantastic soundtrack! I remember being like 9 years old and having this and seeing the movie, waiting to hear any of these songs in it... so badass though. One of the better soundtracks of our day.
I was in 8th grade when I had this soundtrack. This is probably the only song that I still listen to from it though. But I remember how much I loved the whole thing.
I'm well aware that it's my opinion.. thanks for the reminder i guess. Considering it's the highest rated comment i suppose people agree with me and that is THEIR opinions... just in case they too need that pointed out.
I loved the Godzilla soundtrack... in fact, I just bought it again because I lost my old one... it was the first cd I ever owned... which is funny because my parents got it for me when I was like 8 and it has a lot of swearing in it... heh heh...
Oh come on man im a militant hippie too but the song makes you cry? I think The Doors' "The End" makes me cry more. I had a strange night with that song one time oh well to each his own. CHEERS!
@gimmieurBRAIN and @thunderstruck665 NO.. actually it was released on the ARMY single the single contained ARMY, AIR, and the THEME FROM "Dr Pyser" Released in the UK in 1999 I have this in my possession. It's not entirely clear to me weather or not he succeeds though.
