Dangerman, can you recommend good hockey type skate. I tried Tour skates that are similar to regular hockey boots but find them painfull. K2s soft boot does not allow for hard crossovers so I need something in between.
This helped me so much because I'm trying to be pro and i have a long way to go hey that ryhmes okay back to the subject and now i can skate so much better and I'm suprised that people dont leave bad comments because just about every video has bad comments its probebly because ur video is 100% awesome
@SgtStutter18 Cado Modus. This set runs about $900. You want to contact Kim at TheSkateNowShop. com She will dedicate as much time to discussing skates with you as you need. FYI, these are heat moldable pro grade skates with 110mm wheels. Unless you are a power skater, make sure you know what type of skater you are before investing a lot of money in high end skates. ;-)
@bflet006 You are most likely pronating which means you are not skating on your center seam. That is fixed by investing time in retraining yourself in technique. For instance did you know most skaters push off their toe. WRONG. You drive off your heel. Very important. Another cause is natural wear. Rotate the wheels! LOL Not a big deal.
I have had my inline speed skates for about a year now and they are pretty much molded to my foot, but they still hurt my feet really bad. I would really love to be able to stay on the floor much longer than I do, which I can if my feet didn't hurt so bad. Is there anything I can do?
@AceyAlighieri Heat mold again and again until you get it right. I had to heat mold four times. Each time turning up the heat in the oven just a bit more to get my boot body to mold. Remember to keep the back plane higher with the heels on a magazine or thin book. I work thick sox for molding not thin ones. That was a big help. But it took many attempts. Until them I had continued to get blisters from hot spots. No more.
I bought a pair of aggressive skates and have huge blisters on the inside part of my foot, between the ankle and arch. Is there something I can do about this, or do I just have to wait until calluses form?
@o0thisismyusername0o BodyGlide works. On LONG skates I resort to bodyglide. It is a great help. It's a wax for your skin that applies like a stick of deodorant. If you apply moleskin. Cut a center circle. Don't cover the blister with the moleskin, but rather the surrounding area. However I take a whole damn sheet on super long marathon skate days and apply the entire sheet to an area I know may develop a hot spot. The reality is your skates don't fit right. That is the cause.
@Aeshmauniversus While this is good advice, 99 percent of rec skaters have formed boot frame combos. They will never know what you are advising. As for anyone with a true pro grade removable frame would already know this as they are and advanced skater. I'm glad you want to help, but consider the audience. :-)
@DangerManXX i started with 100mm wheels with pro skates, didn`t need to start with 80 mm.
when they give you driving licence they do not say that you need to drive first a 1000cc car instead of a ferrari.
i decided to start like that mainly cause i found ankle support very annoying, not having the ability to move one key part of my leg was stressing me up.
@Aeshmauniversus Please provide some comprehensive proof to this claim. Most RECREATIONAL skaters will NEVER learn speed skating technique. They are standing on skates and that is all they know. Consider that speed skaters will have a mentor or tutor to help them avoid bad technique. This video is for recreational skaters. In spite of that fact, proper boot entry is vital. From formed heat molded boots to rec skates. Your claim of NOT skating on center seams as cause is not true in my book
@DangerManXX well , yes m trying to help, i wasn`t trying to give rubbish on you.m afraid but i have to tell you that i never had a tutor, mentor ,coach or whatever you may call him, i learnt on my own using me brain, trying to understand the most comfortable-powerful way to skate with my own body.what i experienced is that you actually need to push with the heels avoiding pressure on the toe area which will stress the arch. i may say to sit back not leaning too much forward helps knees as well
Hello Danger, good video and good to know how to proper set the laces. But, I have a question. IF I am to lace tight the last holes, the upper ones, as you said/pointed in the video, I will have in short time a painful sensation, like a CUT on the tendons, in front, right under the tongue. Last year I didn't pay attention and it has cost me enough pain until the painful bump created on the tendon retracted. So... what to do in this case? :( Because, I see no resolution for this :((
@lepsulet I'm having trouble visualizing what you outlined. You may want to re-phrase the question. What I can say is that the smaller the boot - the more pro grade you get, there is little room for mistake in location of everything. If the tongue slips then the eyelets can dig into your skin no matter how lose the tension is. Re-tying your knot at the cuff is a constant on long skates. Things such as that matter. Using BODYGLIDE under a thin sock can make a difference.
@lepsulet If we are talking about speed skates, they get very small in every facet. The boot, the tongue and eyelets give you no room for error in fit. The fact is some speed skate boots just don't work for everyone. People buy and sell new boots all the time for this reason. I've personally heat molded my Cado Modus's 4 times before I got a good fit. Only then did I avoid 'hot spots'. It appears your eyelets are digging into your skin. I use donut shaped corn pads to resolve hot spots.
I just want to say thank you for upping this. I've experienced foot pain for years while playing hockey. I'm hoping this helps, it has always stopped me from reaching my full potential. I'll post back when the season starts. cheers.
Thank you sooooo much. I'm v new to skating and couldn't work out why I'm in such terrible foot pain after just a few minutes! I barely undo my boots before ramming my feet in, then lace up as tight as possible; I thought it would support my feet and ankles more (doh!). Your advice makes a big difference.
Hey DangerManXX, thanks for tips it helped me a lot.I have hard shell'd urban skate and i wasn't able to skate more than five minutes. It's quite ok now. Thanks to you man.
@psiacron Thanks. Glad to see the message is reaching the right audience. You get a lot of knuckleheads here flaming just to hate. I have more videos coming.

the stress to the arches is relates to bad balance and technique , not the laces.
