  • sin class maith sibh!

  • I sang this song with my friends at school for the teachers (i go to a gaelscoil)

but i live in donegal and none of them understood it.

i used to live in dublin so i understood it perfectly but there are a few differences

    eg.

    raibh-

    in ulster its pronounced ro

    everywhere else its pronounces riv

  • @biddy96 in connaught (or at least mayo!) we say it like row - as in another word for a fight not the movement for a boat!

fair play for singing it! great song! :]

  • @91Feebs

i mean the irish word raibh

not to have a row as in to have a fight

  • @biddy96 sorry if i didnt make it clear, thats how we say 'raibh' here and not 'riv' as you said everyone else pronounces it as :]

  • whew! blows ya away! i presume they wrote dis ... are they Limerick girls or --- ?

lovely music, hadnt heard it b4, sounds like theyve done da rounds anyway, gettin air time, etc.... impressive talent! More power to em!!

(is cúpla iad, like obviously-- cé hé a duirt go raibh siad lesbians??? jaysus.... :-P

  • Great jst great!! Its a tad weird tho... the whole staring into each others eyes thingy! But rly good!

  • @aaronman6188 they're sisters...

  • How come lesbians always have THAT look about them

  • @HunterHunter88 What makes you think they're lesbians?

  • heard dare new song on radio 2day but missed d name of it...anybody no it? cant find it on dis...

  • proud 2 b irish :)

  • Meas Mor cailini, amhran har bharr ata ann

  • @858251 Fírinne

  • go maith!

  • Love it!

  • *-*

  • I like the Heathers but since hearing their songs being replayed over and over again on Discover Ireland adverts i've gotten really sick of it. :/

  • Lads just like to tell ye this 'dublin irish' ye are speaking of is mainly munster irish with a bit of connacht. there is no dublin dialect just anglicised basic irish. Anyway think its great to irish becoming more modern with losing its beauty =P Well done girls

  • ta siad go hiontách agus ta na cailin ana deas

  • go maith. is brea liom.

  • Is breá liom tá sé go hiontách

  • @irishskills Dublin don't have Irish. It's learned out of books or from the other dialects. There are no native Irish speakers in Dublin bar the few who migrated in from the western, southern or northern gaeltachts.

  • @rockerlkj

that's what I'm saying man, the language that has evolved from people from western, southern and northern gaeltachts who moved to Dublin is much nicer and clearer. But that's my opinion... Is teanga den scoth í, agus labhraítear go híontach í i mBaile Átha Cliath :)

  • Amazing

  • is aiobhinn liom

  • dublin irish is so much nicer than the rest of the country's

  • @irishskills Dublin Irish is just Irish spoken in an english (ish) accent....

  • is breá liom iad!Thar barr.Ticéidí agam chun iad a fheiceáil i nGaillimh i mí Meithimh :)

  • @Streakyhead you lucky one ...

  • Is brea liom é! Tá siad go hiontách cínte! An a mhaith ar fád. Beidh scrúdú Gaeilge agam amárach, seo é mó stáidear! LOL. :) <3

  • go maith :D

  • cá as iad?? go hiontach!

  • 2 very talented girls...keep it up..i am now a fan!

  • cute!...go haillin:D X

  • Ceoltóiri den scoth is ea iad!! Tá siad an-álainn ar fad. B'aoibheann liom iad a feicáil ins an tsamhraigh. :-)

  • @rockerlkj Aontaim!

  • so basically, heathers are the best.

  • Oh one more thing Heathers are playing the Project Arts Centre on Oct 28th. All Ages, 8Euro, and starts at 8PM!

    Spread the word!!!!

  • [english part 3]

Do you realise that when you are young, you tend to take for granted what everybody's done?

Do you realise that when you are young, you tend to turn an eye from the things that mean the most and,

Do you realise that when you are young, the things you take so seriously mean nothing at all

Do you realise that when you are young, the stories you recall are of the influential sort.

Thats the lot unless you guys want the irish translated.

  • thank you!!!!!! really cool!!:)))) <3

  • [English part 2]

But I glued them back together, hoping everything would be better, and we'd be back together. Everything would be fine.

These things are meant to happen. And the evidence not forgotten. Everything will be better, everything will be fine.

  • [english part 1]

So I, I went and told you that story, didn't keep it to yourself went and told everybody else. To my surprise.

But I, I didn't let it get me down, I don't often take these stories as they clearly seem to sound. Because most of the time they're lies.

Believe it or not I retraced my steps and I carried on walking back to where we first met, the stories we shared strewn all over the ground. The stories we shared, I wish I'd never found.

  • [pt 2]

Tuigim go raibh siad an tabhactacht, bhi siad cosuil le iomha scathan mo shaol.

An raibh is agat, nuair a bhi tu og

Ni raibh tu buich na rudai a rinne gach duine duit?,

An raibh fhios agat nuair a bhi tu og

Thog tu dhroim o na rudai tabhachtacht?,

An raibh fhios agat nuair a bhi tu og

Na rudai a bhi tachachtacht ni raibh siad tachachtacht? ,

An raibh fhios agat nuair a bhi tu og

Chuimhnigh ar na scealta ba mho a raibh tionchar leo?

  • [pt 1]

De Luain, bhí me ag caint leat faoi ruin,

Duirt tu na inis me aon duine, duine og no sean dhuine

    Mar a rinne tu riomh

De mairt, bhí gach rud an cheart

Ní inis tu aon duine, duine og no sean duine,

    Ar cur a bith.

Bhuel, bhi me ag siul sios an bothar la amahain, agus chonaic me foirgneamh lofa ar an talamh,

Sios na clochai agus brablach agus chuimhnigh, a lán briongloidi dearmaide.

Snamh me isteach agus pioc me suas iad, agus leamh me gach rud cosuil le aon duine.

  • Sound a bit like a teeny version of the Corrs without the Louth twang. Checked this out after reading a piece about in today's Irish Times magazine. They are better than the Corrs (sorry Lousie & Ellie).

Bought it today adn could not believe the song wasn't in Irish on the CD.
