My club handles the dances. Money, administration, music and sometimes we're even chaperones if they're aren't many teachers, and the dances are tame considering. But there were restrictions and attendance to dances dropped.
I don't know what school dances were like for you but I'm pretty sure they're not that different then the ones we have now.

I think you've completely missed the point here. I agree with your first statement, there is a definite lack of respect but the reasons for this are too many to name here.
In regards to dancing, the contemporary forms of dancing (not tribal or religious dancing) are ALL about sexual energy and intentions. Ballroom, tango, rumba, lap - all these dances are sexual in meaning and history. It is just another form of non-verbal communication.
so everyone gets in a big circle and does some sexual bending simultaneously - even the ugly kids as it would freak out the teachers and if they don't chuck them all out - then the rule is lost as it should be.

When I was in high school they pulled something similar to this a bunch of kids just pooled their cash together and rented a place to have an alt prom. It was a ton more fun.
I wonder if they are going to have rulers as well to make sure that the kids in attendance are dancing a foot apart. If they are going to be filming this dance, are they going to have the lights on as well? I think it would be kind of hard to tell who is doing what if the majority of the lights are off at the venue and there are only light effects by where the dj is.

Now, I graduate in '07, and yeah, the couples would grind and there would be kids making grind trains and go "choo-choo." But IMO, it's harmless and it burns off sexual energies you have when you are at that....age, without actually having sex.

I think you've completely missed the point here. I agree with your first statement, there is a definite lack of respect but the reasons for this are too many to name here.
In regards to dancing, the contemporary forms of dancing (not tribal or religious dancing) are ALL about sexual energy and intentions. Ballroom, tango, rumba, lap - all these dances are sexual in meaning and history. It is just another form of non-verbal communication.

I wonder if they are going to have rulers as well to make sure that the kids in attendance are dancing a foot apart. If they are going to be filming this dance, are they going to have the lights on as well? I think it would be kind of hard to tell who is doing what if the majority of the lights are off at the venue and there are only light effects by where the dj is.
