  • i think you played it quite well :)

  • Gorgeously played!! I don't understand why people say that a song played like this isn't beautiful. I mean half of those critics probably couldn't play it as well if they tried. Also, people add their own style to a song, so it would be silly if everyone played a song in the exact same way.

  • you added an extra note 30 seconds into the piece

  • I THINK you were afraid to shift your weight into the 3/4 for the right hand. Rather than let the left hand keep the bum-bum-bum-bum going on its own and drift into a waltz, you did what (I think) most left brained people would do---incorporate the triplets into the 4/4 cadence. You got it wrong, as I would say most of us left-brain people do, when it comes to music.

Let me listen again. I might have more useless comments to offer to such a young and brilliant mind.

  • Seems like 3 people were drunk and slipped to the dislike button

    How silly of them =(

  • @AlphonseCuteX3 do we really need all those comments on every damn YT video? -.-

  • less-than-satisfactory quality? Are you kidding? Where?

  • Hi!! I love this piece!! What does Opus Posthumous mean? I don't understand the Opus Posthumous part. Plz answer; :)

  • @dussekfan It means it was published after death, and has no opus number.

  • @dussekfan Not sure but I think it means realised after he was dead

  • @michaeljg107 Oh okay thankz :)

  • dopppeeee

  • Very nice and true to the original. The second C is a must for me its in my copy, well done, bravo dude.

  • Minor flaws, but its a very pleasurable listening experience. Good job.

  • Good job.

  • Bar 7, you're not suppose to play the other C

  • Some editions don't have the two C-s linked, so that you have to play both. Though i prefer without the second C, it leaves much more room for imagination :)

  • Oh, I've never seen that :P Thanks. I also prefer it without the second C.

  • Maby some more rubato. And maby a more nice construction of the thrills. But I liked it! What is (were) your age?

    Regards

  • I was 16 at the time. Since then, I've been to Europe twice, and have much more experience playing. I wish to re-record this piece (as well as do some interpretive changes) sometime in the near future. Maybe this summer (?).

  • I am 18 now.

  • I'm playing this piece at the age of 16. Check it out here and leave a comment! /watch?v=d1YXhpzafHY

  • Your trills are not clear. But I like this interpretation. Good Job !!! (=D)

  • agreed, trills not clear! but i thought it was played beautifully, however I like the way i play it better. its a taste thing i guess <3

  • Wasn't this played in the movie "The Pianist" with Chopin's Ballade No.1 in G minor?

  • Yep, it was.

  • yes

  • too bad the ballade was cut out in the middle... but i love the movie. have you listened to the actual pianist who was modeled for the movie? I was surprised at his interpretations cause it was quite different from what I usually heard. His interpretation sounds like an incurable anguish whereas most of this nocturne's interpretations sound more like mourn for love. It's interesting to compare. Check it out.

  • @Starbirdy9999 Yes it was!

  • @Starbirdy9999 yes

  • Beautiful and relaxing and well worth the wait! I met your dad last June when i was on tour with my band, i think it was in Vnuks WC. He gave me this link and i only found it again today written on a box of matches that had lay in my suit case for the last year. You can tell your dad from me your every bit as good as he said you were!!! All the best for the future Seth. Kie, Ireland.

  • I really like this piece and is currently learning it :) This recording is awesome, fav so I can listen to it as a guide ^^

  • it gives the feeling of beethovens moonlight mov 1

  • Don't really get that one..... I think you can't possibly compare those pieces.....

  • I found it odd too that people do too much with the original music score. I have no idea where ibby6666 was coming from; Original? I am basically playing the original. (I use Henle editions for my music-it's Urtext, which means it's the autograph of the composer).

And, by the way, the version in the pianist seems to be the only recording people know, therefore, THAT'S how it should be played. I advise everyone to open their ears and heart up to things. I am not defending myself, but everyone.

  • @skg1991 In the original do you hold the peddle throughout, because it says "con Ped." right from the beginning, or do you seperate it? I may have a different version.

  • @RoyalRiku13 I separate it. Most of the time I use the pedaling for coloring and for parts that I cannot possibly connect using the fingers alone. My attention is usually the left hand, and I try to play the right hand "without pedal" ...if that makes sense.

  • @skg1991 I get it. It's just that my piece doesn't hint anything about peddling except the "con Ped". There are no sustain and release signs at all.

  • @RoyalRiku13

The romantic period composers didn't like putting in notation for it. Pedal ab lib.

  • @ciliaspippi Sorry for asking ,but what does ab lib mean? I'm guessing something from the beginning?

  • @RoyalRiku13

Ad libitum. It means "at liberty". Pedal however you want. Usually every bar, or two beats. Just make sure it is tasteful pedalling, not clouding the notes.

  • @ciliaspippi Thank you so much! Gets me that much closer to playing this piece properly, and in my own epressive way.

  • If you're going to play the ever-wonderful stereotype of the offended supremacist, try to steer clear of casual swearing and misspelling forgery. It tends to weaken an arguement.

Have to love the polite request to remove the video on account of offending you though. How very tolerant of you to allow a mere mortal a second chance.

  • @Thatsmymuffin

    Uhm, that's "argument."

  • my version is a bit different in the middle where the left hand pretty much has the melody.

it doens't say any markings for me to speed up. My Piano teacher said just do wat the music says.

  • I love this piece, so beautiful!

  • Beautiful! Very nice to my ears!!

  • Thank you for the kind comments everybody. I plan to re-record this sometime soon and put it on here. I have spent 2008 July at the International Music Adademy in Czech. I plan to go again this summer. I have changed things in myself for Chopin and all music; I want to share my new ideals. I respectfully disagree with pulmarvenzen and Ravmaninovpiano, but I appreciate your comments. Keep loving music everybody. God bless. SKG

  • lovely!! thanks for the listening pleasure

  • I'm sorry to approach you, but do you have the music sheet for this?

  • hermoso! precioso!! congratulations

  • Very lovely .... but I agree with the French guy ... the opening passage, although played as written, would be infinitely better if much slower, and ignore the rests, its written just too staccato, just hold the notes. Sorry Frederyck, you got it wrong. And how about trying a slightly more pronounced, stronger, uplifting rise and then a sad slow fall in the last two arpeggios, each a brief flight of the spirit? Great, thanks, Ron (I can play this about 85% this good ... self taught)

  • I love this version. My piano teacher tells me to play it so much faster, it just hurts my ears, especially the ending trills. I just wish I could show her your version, and be like, SEE, SLOW IS PRETTY. D;<

Beautiful version, just to sum up my stupid rant. XD<3

  • How silly of your "teacher". The sheet music clearly prints "Lento", or at least mine does. :)

  • What book do you have? I use the Keith Snell version. She says my left hand lags too much. D;

  • sheer beauty...it relaxes you and give you a refreshed feeling....

I always get a feel for a movie seen too..somewhere

in europe, a nice old english lookign

house with brown couches and red

carpet..like straight up a slow scene

    from bourne ultimatum ahhh

    lol!! very POWERFUL

  • Le son est trop agressif au début, etles trilles sont maladroites car elles manquent de légereté. Mais l'oeuvre est tout de même bien interprétée, et les brèves des mesures 59, 59 et 61 sont joliment jouées. Bon travail!

  • PERFECT!

  • Beautiful playing. Comparable to the greats.

  • Very nice!

  • beautiful

  • Seth got this link from your mom . keep playing your heart out . Martin and Catherine Williams in the PHilippines(ur Moms poker buddies )

  • amazing 8-> :)

  • awesome

  • Very nice. I like your version more than the one available on iTunes. Rats, I'm out 99 cents! :(

  • Mazzz =]

  • Sweet...

    [I'm skorch from Ichigos btw]

  • Lovely :)

  • Bad ass dude. :-)

  • wOOt! I this is a very good recording! Good job Mazeppa/Seth!

  • Honestly I'm not familiar enough with piano that you could have fooled me into thinking that was performed by a concert pianist, good job =D

  • Seriously AWESOME, Seth!

  • I love Chopin

  • You take my breath away. <3
