  • adoraria estar nesse culto,,,

  • THE REVEREND AL!!!

  • Glorious! I love how at 0:52 Al hits a note so beautiful even he has to shake his head at it!

  • Doesn't the drummer look like a sneaky little fellow?

  • @jonathangarlow yea he do, hopefully he ain't

  • @jonathangarlow Man you just made me laugh

  • Artwork in any media changes as the influences of the environment it is presnted in changes along with changing the perspective of both the viewer and the artwork itself. Others think this means he has 3 people in him when it simply does not mean that - words often misinterpreted or written by ghost writers........

  • Yo yo yo! Where can I find this church???

  • Was that Bill Preston on the drums?

  • Al is a Beast

  • I would love to see the part of this where he sang "When the Gates Swing Open".

  • I love this song...... but never heard it sang in this way. I much prefer the way i know it's more touching and a blessing to me.

Thanks for sharing this version though ;)

  • I listened to alot of "secular" artist try to sing gospel but something with Al shows it's natural because it's what he knew before going pro. Alot of r&b were singing in church as a child but Al SANG in church. Singing in choir and singing in service is two different things. U can tell Al sang in service as he shows here. This is that U walkin by a church and U walk in cause U can hear the music and it moves U.

  • AMAZING.

  • Want to know the difference between a white and black church? Lol .... But we are all children of god either way

  • Man, you can really see the Sam Cooke influence in this video. Yes, Al Green is his own man; a magnificent singer and performer. However, if you know Sam Cooke the way that I do; then you know what I mean. Al Green was 15 years younger than Sam Cooke; he grew up on Sam.

  • dude is killin on Set adn Al Green is a beast wen it comes to sangin gospel

  • thank u egdirnam leave the man along let him praise god!! i jus dont understand people these days people look down a person if his doing bad or good the word of god said u should down upon a man unless u are picking him up

  • Leave that man alone. He is AL GREENE, the best. No matter what he sings, he is the man.

  • See how much spirit can be in a small church and it doesn't have to be one of these mega churhes. Nothing against mega churches but this is how we did it back in the day in little neighborhood churches. You can feel the spirit just looking and listening to this tape!!!

  • @Sangria3 Yes! So right! "I wouldn't take nothin' for my journey now." And no matter how far u stray, and no matter what the world says, YOU know, down in your secret soul, what u experienced in those little storefront churches, hand-me-down churches, country brush arbors, & in the tabernacles.....and YOU know it's real, if nothing else in this world still is. "For where any two are gathered together in my name....." And it keeps you.

  • WOW! Wish I could see the video that got the congregation crying and praising before this song! As usual, Al Green is in the Spirit. I think Al Green feels the Spirit everytime he sings!

  • I am a saved women who simply love to hear Al Green sing Gospel he is so annointed to sing the gospel that I believe the God that we serve will not allow Wl to stay in the world to long so that he does not receive the blessing he desirves I just stated the fact to my gran sonof how I kinow when Al isa in the holy Ghost, he always say Clap your hands for Jesus and you know it, its in his smile may God bless him to get it right with God I love you AL fropm Sister Diane

  • This is from the documentary, The Gospel According To Al Green. Al is singing in the Church he Pastors. Everytime I watch this video, I feel like I'm at a Church revival. Al Green is singing like this is his last time on earth.

  • When all is said and done, THIS is how I will remember Al Green.

  • Al Green doesnt dibble dabble with God and Secular music....He gives Praise and thanks to God in everything he does....He is singing about LOVE in all of his songs and if you know and understand God you will know that GOD IS LOVE!

  • Good said ... God Bless you brother!!

  • U said dat right there!!!

  • lol lol Al Green man this must be bacc in the 70s everyone roccin them afros hahhahahah Al Green is confused just like Mase he went into the ministry left the rap game and went into church not he bacc in to rap folks need to get it together its either Or ya feel me. I hope they use the either (God's Music) all music is ok but i dont like folks that dibble and dabble with God

  • What's he doing now, secular or gospel?

Al Green has been serving two masters for the longest!

    God or Mammon?

  • U must be one of dem old people that used to say if you sing soul and gospel music u servin the devil dat ain nothin but a bunch of bologna because its whats in the heart and most of the time its their job, their career, for say, Aretha that is just her job and she had a very good career.

  • Mammon- A common Aramaic word (mamon) for riches, used in Mt 6:24 and in Lu 16:9,11,13. In these passages mammon merely means wealth, and is called "unrighteous," because the abuse of riches is more frequent than their right use.

Luk 16:13 No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

  • Ok... and the point is...I know what da scripture say but it does not say "ye that singith love songs is a devil worshipper", i love scriptures tho, very well quoted!

  • Absolutely correct!! It's impossible to serve(2)masters!! You can not be luke warm. You're either for God or against him. That other comment went to you about the biography on him!!

  • I agree with you, I love this man I really do but I have had the pleasure of reading his biography, and he stated with his own lips that he feels like it's (3) Al Greens living inside of him. He said you never know which one you're going to get! He said he could be on stage ready to sang gosple and the secular Al Green comes out,or he could be ready to deliver secular and the preacher comes out. He said it depends on who wins the battle that day! The biography is (Take Me To The River) Gobuyit!

  • @bgw48

Lol, it depends on who won the battle that day? Wow, good fight soul.

  • @bgw48 definitely can identify with the 3 persons in 1 thang. so glad it is that way, cuz I couldn't do without all 3 of em! Al Green = music personified

  • Why does the song have a tavern beat to it in the beginning?
