@SaxRegiment He is NOT growling at 1:19. I repeat NOT growling. That's a high F# on alto saxophone. When played with the alternative fingering it NATURALLY sounds multiphonic if you blow hard. Listen.

@SaxRegiment He is growling. This can be achieved by humming or singing while playing the saxophone which in turns make a harsh tone. People like it, especially in badass solos like this.

You can get that growling sound on the high note (which is an F#) very naturally by over blowing on the alternative fingering. That's how I do it.

(google altissimo fingerings if you don't know the alternative fingering)

Buddy is a teenager... like many others, including me, but I will admit that this guy is an incredible player and possesses incredible technical facility that I'm still working toward of course (actually, I meant his theory, not actual "finger speed" or "dexterity"), and a nice tone. But this is the kind of stuff we're facing in the real world, more younger players boasting incredible talent in the modern world. Francisco Cafiso, Matt Porcelain, Adam Carillo, are just other examples.

im going to be in middle school next year and i'm going to join the band!!! today the band teacher came to my school and asked us if we wanted to join band! he gave us lots of choices of instruments but i wanted to go for the alto sax!!! so did, 7 other kids.he made us blow into the mouth piece and if we got the sound to come out correctly, then that was our instrument!! turned out the me and my friend were the only kids who could play the mouthpiece correctly! here i come alto saxophone!!!!!
