Every accent perfectly placed. The speediest fills perfectly in time. Creativity to burn. It is a pleasure to watch and listen to him. Even though I am not a big jazz fan, I listen to Dave Weckl. I think he is one of the best soloists there is.
I'm a drummer of 20 years. I don't care what names you throw out there. No one does it with more feel than Weckl. There are drummers... musicians.... and artists. An artist is someone who is constantly perfecting his/her craft.. who is never satisfied.. and an artist (above all) invokes trends and shifts reality and perception. In the music world, Dave Weckl is the epitome of what an artist is. Simply the best.
@M3GTR There is no better or best in this catagory. Carey may be your preference, I have mine. They all interpret music differently. Some styles I care for more than others. But I highly doubt any rock drummer can touch weckl on songs like this.

Thx clips. That 0:30 lick sounds like there's a percussionist playing too, but it's all Dave! No other drummer on the planet could pull that off. Love that 4:30 reprise as well, after a tasty bass mini-solo.
Well, that just inspired me to do whatever it takes to get me a new drum set and place to play after not having a drum set in like 10+ years. Dave Weckl is amazing, I wish I could play a quarter as good as he did here.........
