@gulllars I think she means faith in your country, believing in it, etc. You can get people to follow laws because they believe in them (by letting them have a say in what those laws are, etc.) or you can get them to obey by scaring them, making them paranoid about accidentally stepping out of line, etc.

@kimberlily1983 Still, the best reason for following laws/rules is because you understand the reason why they're there, and what purpose they serve. I obey the laws of my country (norway) because i understand their purpose, and have done so since i was about 10 years old. Before that, i followed them because i was told to, and the fear of punishment.

The biggest reason we have formal laws is because not everybody has sufficient common sense, and it's therefore neccesary for a peaceful society.

@gulllars Yeah, I agree. It is problematic if people just believe in their country, believe the laws are just because they're told they live in the land of the free or whatever, without understanding why those laws make sense (or don't). Unfortunately, many people fit the former category...

@kimberlily1983 yep, common sense is unfortunately not that common. Not to mention the rise (or increased coverage) of anti-intellectuals and proud ignorants. There are too few people calling out people on their BS. I make an effort to whenever i come across something serious.

One way to increase common sense is to teach logic, scepticism, and the fundamental concepts of philosophy at a young age. It's not to early to start in grade 3-4. Problem solving instead of computing is also a good idea.

Hahaha I love how outspoken Rose is. That's one of the things I love about her, that she's not afraid to speak her mind. My friend's just like that. A rather loud human being, but one who is not afraid of what people think of her. Rose truly rocks.

I want to let you all know that Rose had the plastic surgery LONG BEFORE this even aired! She was in a car accident in January 2007, and had the surgery a month after! So, no Rose did not get bad karma from what she said! I just thought that I should clear that up!
