Probably fixed by now, but I'd like to point out that that is EXACTLY what it sounds like when my SSV is ticking. You can find out if that's it by pushing something against the actuator arm for it and it will stop when hold it tight. It won't hurt the engine to ignore it but if you want it fixed, I believe Mazda released a beefed up version some time around 2008 that's supposed to fix it.
The rotary is junk if you treat it like you shit in the gas tank you retards. Take care of it and it will be your best friend. Stop driving it like your daddy bought it for your sweet sixteen, check oil regularly, change it every 3-6k, 25k tunes, premium gas, don't be an ass. I own an 04 rx8 with 116k you dumb asses.

Average replacement was required every 15-20 000 miles. I thought people could have guessed right now that it wouldn't work. If you look on autoscout (largest European 2nd hand site), you see loads of RX8's for sale at very low prices.

@yourmotherrules Took it to the mazda/volvo dealership today, said it might be the rotor tips :( not good but he was a volvo mechanic. it was compression tested 4 thousand miles ago. So i dont think its knocking but im hoping its not the tips.

Its your ssv valve. It opens your secondary intake ports. Look it up and youll find location. Replacement is a biatch.

In Japan 10/50 is the recommended grade of oil.
5/25 is recommended is the states/europe because of fuel consumption/emission legislation
Check the oil level every week. And change it every 6000 miles.
