So many journo's took the piss or was twee around that time and John never bought in to it. Good to see an Aussie giving a balanced interview and John being rolling with it (as he would). Anyone know who the interviewer is? Really good and candid interview.
Typical bloody Mel-bore-nian. Has the push the line about his town being the sports capital of Nowhereland. You could just tell he wanted to bring Aussie Rules into the conversation. Like John would give a shit !!!
I just find him to be so devastatingly handsome and very naturally funny and charismatic. I love his voice and mannerisms and the way he just always seems interesting regardless of what he is saying. He was just a very original person and there will never be another like him.

@TheMichaelseymour Thats a bit harsh. I mean your getting very stereotypical. I love sport well Soccer and cricket but i dont do all that stuff you say and im sure there are alot of people who are the same. But John Lennon and the Beatles or even rock and roll is bigger than any sport star or sport in general.
@liamcj23 Yes..sorry liam ..if i offended you -but i dont think i'm harsh enough on Australians {& i'm possibly first fleet stock } ...& i'm just waiting for someone to say "go back to where you come from" to me ..what a joke that would be for obvious reasons . Yes it was stereotypical ..but that kind of australian is way too prominent for many peoples liking ..and the rampant alcoholism sexism racism meatheadism of overpaid sport "stars" just makes it more grotesque .Apology's to you liam.
@TheSpecialK56. So, in other words, it doesn't matter if he was beating his wife or smoking a cigarette whenever he went at this time, as long as he had short hair and did what was normal he would be OK in your book. If you spent half as much time listening to his message as you did criticizing him for some irrelevant alcohol addiction you'd see what I'm trying to say.
@NightSurfer47 don’t wet your panties; I have a different opinion than you do. He also was alienated from his blood relatives, his friends, and was addicted to heroin/alcohol for a large part of that time. He still could have “preached” peace, etc., without the other maladaptive features of his life that I attribute to his relationship to Yoko, and her needs.
its a beautiful thing to see now all these years later that john's likeliness to be honest in interviews rather than give answers to appease the masses. as early as '64 he refused to be a phony responding to tough questions regarding religion and such. its not that he just assumed this position to be a defiant hippie to stay cool or whatever. he was real and genuine in '64 as he was in '69, '74, or 2011 !!!!!
@BMWproductionCo hippyness started in 1960's in America, The Beatles didn't invent that. It was just they were so famous people assumed that when they got into it they invented it.
Right , However Sgt. Peppers was a Great Psychedelic Album that fueled Hippy Culture ,Its for its Cultural Influence that Sgt Peppers is Rated higher than Revolver.
'jimmy' was the drummer that filled in for Ringo while the beatles were touring Australia, ringo had a high fever and tonsillitis just before the adelaide show. jimmy was his replacement drummer
@beatlebum1000 George Martin thought so, too. In fact, that's why he signed the Beatles. He said he thought that if they didn't make it as a pop group, they could have been a comedy troupe. And Martin would have known, he produced records for Peter Sellers and the Goons, Dudley Moore, Peter Cook and other top British comedy acts of the late 50's-early 60's.
Regarding--FILM: "..do an hour's rubbish.." SPORTS:..."we're agnostic about sports, too!".. EVIL GRIN insinuating girls over sports: "..That's when you discover the OTHER things..." WHEN HE STARTED WRITING: "You got it wrong there, Mimi, if you're watching.."..MEETING PAUL: "..Agnostic church social.."..HIS BOOK: "..some of it IS sick!" LOL!! I don't know why ppl got insulted that the boys don't like sports. Guess nothing's changed in that area. :p John, gotta love you. So unique. <3<3<3
john lennon was so awesome! i loved his music, his political views, and his sense of humour! I also loved the way he looked up until 67, when he started growing his hair long. he looked great in this video, and the interview was polite and respectful, unlike some of those interviews back then who were so rude to the beatles and asked rediculous questions.
@syleriam even things (or people) that are bad for you can make you "happy". It's not coincidence that John was at his best when he was away from Yoko, and at his worst when he was with her. It happens.
Bad interviewer. He asks a few good questions and it looks like John is impressed and opens up to him, but then there's no follow up. Just questions, no conversation. John slowly starts to tune out.
i love john in interviews. he's so candid. he's one of those people you'd love to just sit down with in a restaurant somewhere and have a long conversation- get his thoughts on every subject. in other interviews he's so like that- whatever anyone asks him he answers honestly and candidly, off the top of his head, whatever subject it is. you don't ever feel like he's being careful or trying to hide anything.
Ahahaha I love this interview so much. John has such a strange, but great sense of humor. That evil grin of his is too funny. He was such an amazing man.
although I was almost positive john didn't believe in religion, he did say ''god bless'' and such allot and I'd never actually heard him say anything about his own religious beliefs so this is a really enlightening video.
he never says that ..i read and watch allot of his interviews i read his bio. watched so many things about him like movies and documentary .don't tell me about John Winston Lennon
the crusifix was most likely a gift, he didn't care enough about it to even decide if he believed or didn't believe, anyway he chose to live for himself and his loved ones instead of living his life in the service of a fictional person. hence the song god, it's not saying god doesn't exists, jesus was just a man or krishna doesn't exist, it's saying ''I'm not here for you, god, jesus or anyone else, I'm here for myself''. you need to stop lieing to yourself.
yeah I watched the interview, and all he said is that ''god'' lives within everything, which means god is a concept that represents good. he's said countless times the the concept of god lives within everyone, as does evil.
you left out the part when he says he believes in god.. funny you'd leave that part out.. and his views changed alot during the 70's so he might have changed his beliefs again after that interview i showed you.
@TheBeatlesL0VE In his song "God" He does says explicitly "I don't believe in Jesus". I know that's not saying he doesn't believe in God, but it's noteworthy
but one thing he was always fickle he always gives different answers to pretty much the same questions ...but i have a picture of him in my room well i got alot lol but in that one he has a cross and what looks like a lil page maybe of the bible its a necklace
are you like 9 years old? you are wishing he was religious when he wasn't. no one likes to answer as an atheist that bluntly because it offends basically 1/3 of everyone. his songs like "imagine" and "god" are pretty straight forward.
that's got nothing to do with ''god'', he was interested in Hare Krishna and wrote ''jai guru Deva om'' in across the universe so there is a possibility he believed in re-encarnation but probably not. he didn't care whether god existed or not, he probably didn't believe in any god, religious beliefs are either based on faith or ignorence, as science proves all religions wrong but people choose to believe that science is ''The Devil'' so he probably believed only what he could prove.
yes it has alot to do with it, he once said hes prepared for death cause he doesn't believe in it , its like getting out of 1 car and getting into another , and i think he said that like way after the Beatles broke up so he was in his late 30's and in this interview hes 23 going on 24 , so his views on religion and beliefs changed alot over his life.

I know, Lennon's just a scream. This is my favorite-ever interview with him, and I love them all from any point of his career. But he truly is the slightly-cheeky, slightly-irreverent and totally lovable mop-top here.

when you choose not to choose between christianity or atheism, like you would need to know more to actually believe in god.

I know, Lennon's just a scream. This is my favorite-ever interview with him, and I love them all from any point of his career. But he truly is the slightly-cheeky, slightly-irreverent and totally lovable mop-top here.
