  • Ignore the trolls and dislikes. You have excellent form, and good kime- the snap of your gi makes that evident enough. Speaking of which, your uniform needs a bit of ironing ;)

Ah, I see a video response. I'm glad you made it- hope it educates a few people. Maybe link to it in your original video?

Inspiring stuff. I think I'll get my candles back out and see how far I've come.

  • underestimated the public inteligence... idiot

  • what an idiot !

  • actually, in the Shaolin Temple, this exercise is done for hours (without the air coming from the clothes, of course). you can look it up here on youtube .. damn Shaolin Monks can kill you just by touching you .. xD

(I exaggerate. lol! but really, they're amazing)

  • @raitei0reifu0kun - I've watched them. They are awesome.

  • @trosanelli yeah! .. hey um .. do you know if they actually reach the level where the air coming from their punch really becomes strong enough to put off a candle flame? dang.. how much energy must that punch have..

  • @raitei0reifu0kun - I saw one demonstrate of 50 candles. It looked like he punched a torch.

  • @raitei0reifu0kun its not energy its chi.

  • is bs because of his cloth (gee) that's why the flame goes off

  • drill of accuracy?focus? and control? nah.. look at his mouth, he blow the candle.. lol

  • It's normal, this is the wind --"

  • did you see him punch it. because i dont

  • The distance is too close. This is a japanese variant of the Yang Guang Shou or "Hands of Sun Rays", a shaoling type of Gong Fu of the "soft" part. You are not even at a meter from the fire which is the first step. True mastership is reaches when able to extinguish the flame at 8 steps from it. It's far to easy to do that at that distance. Keep working and you will reach succes.

  • can you light the candle with a punch?

  • bwhahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahaha

  • Lol I think the sleeve helps with bring wind into it. But looks fun I'm gonna try it haha.

  • roll ur sleeve up then do it if u r telling truth other wise only kids can be deceived by it HA AH AH AH AH AH AH AH HA HA H

  • This is not prove of some speed or something...This is prove of "magic" sleeve

  • Really, what does this prove or accomplish?

  • i can do that

and dont even have a belt in my pants

  • SEE, GOOD TEQUINICS (( SHOTOBUSHINKAI DIEGO))

  • Lol try that wenn you aren't wearing your gi... the gi is resulting in moore wind...

  • it is his shirt

  • What a girly candle and candle holder lol.

  • @FauxFoeBot - I stole my wife's candle holder for the video. Don't tell her.

  • @FauxFoeBot there is nothing wrong with girly stuff purple means royal

  • do it without the GEEE

  • Just for laugh, we should try brazzier next time. LOL.

  • I tried this... ended up burning my house down

  • in america, we just blow out the candle ;)

  • this is so stupit it is his jackit that is blowing out the candle

  • Do it** My bad! :P

  • The actual excersice is far away than it is shown at the video. You have to get far from the candle and try it without no shirt. That's how chinese monks does it.

  • it's ur kimono who faded the light

  • its your sleeeeeeeeave!

  • aa seeing this brings back memories of when i used to train karate i think i still have that out fit and an orange belt to boot from when i used to train it i was 6 back than so it doesn't fit any more ^^

  • what is that noise ?? is that a kind of fan ^^

  • le gros handicaper a eteindre une bougie

  • it seems alittle easy for me, i dont kow if im doing it write, i stop about 3 or 4 inches from the flame and it goes out, but i thought it would take alot of training or something, any idea how to make it harder to take out? other than a few in a row im practicing that already

  • Well, Im from Vietnam and I've been playing Karate too. I think this is funny, very funny. There is nothing to be surprise in this clip. it is too easy to make it. Sorry for the comment like this.

  • try without the kimono. its 10x harder!

  • stupid ads crashin mah youtube

  • seems like his sleeve is the one blowing it out.. instead of the actual punch, the sleeve blows air too..

  • you should get those prank self lighting candles. when you blow them out they relight themselves

  • try doing it with a front kick....

  • That's a cool parlor trick... but it's not "traditional karate"... :) You need more hip movement in your Oi Zuki and Uraken. Fix that before you start worrying about blowing out candles.... OSS

  • I just did this with long sleeves rolled up above my elbow and without breathing about, I'm a practicing Kyokushinkai Karate student, this is the first time I try it, failed a lot but I'd let the flame rest in between. I was using blackout candles, FUCK they're tough to put out :P

  • Can you this whithout kimano ?

  • vou gastar uma caixa de fósforos fazendo isso kkkkkk

  • this doesnt demonstrate speed, its all about the technique to blow out candles more than anything, people dont waste your time perfecting this, you can tell the punches dont have to be that fast to blow out candles, whats more important is where the hand is at the end of the punch, you can punch faster but if your hand isnt at the right place to create the wind it wont happen. And a boxing punch works badly even tho its quicker and more powerful.

  • @P4PDeliverySystem - I agree. This drill is more about accuracy, focus, and control. Also, twist your fist at the end makes a great difference.

  • @P4PDeliverySystem "Taschenspielertricks" but not Karate!!!

  • Give me a break, Gi or no Gi, it's this kind of posey rubbish that give karate a bad name!!!!

  • Come On People !! Are you blind ?? Look closer and you will see that GI is dooing whole work !

The punch is so slow that my ganfather can see it even if hes 115 years :P(Joke)

  • I think you should undress because your sleeves madewind

  • honking looking gi

  • This is easy. The hard way is to place the fist next to the candle and try to blow the candle out with a retraction. Retracting the fist creates a vacuum where the fist was and the candle is blown out from behind! ooossss

  • GI sounds extreme if you punch fast

  • this is awesome <3 I'll use this as a training method every day from now on. thanks!

  • i managed to blow out all of the candels on my birthday cake when i was 9 and i never even used my fists, who is this mystical warrior i hear you ask well you may know me as the red power ranger but im not boasting

  • change arm budd!! .... but very cool :)

  • its the GI -.-

  • Im telling you right now, its hours of ammusment :P

  • i just tried it (without kimono), it really works! Been training karate for some years now. everybody who says its fake just doesnt know how to do it... period.

  • he has the jedi mind...

  • Good but still in Kung Fu they do it without the top (gi). It Is fairly basic with the top (gi). Also Master Funakoshi (Karate Master), once ripped the half of his Gi (see in photos) and blew the candle still from a far distance in his late 80's! Now that's fascinating. Anywayz train hard!!! :D

  • @skOOtin1

theres no better martial art, only better fighter

  • boring why cant you do like 100 candls

  • Yeah good training but borrowed from Shaolin Kung Fu.No disrespect to anyone doing Karate as all martial art's are useful but Karate is mainly power based when it come's to punching. This doesn't really teach speed as such it's more power+speed=candle blowing out.

  • XD I training Karate too, im now 1dan. Its easy to make this in kimono. Try it without kimono.

  • i thank frome the suit

  • @zemaxe3 - Thanks. I think most people watching this video are totally misunderstanding the purpose. I am merely showing a drill that I find fun to practice at home not trying to show off my martial arts skills.

  • @trosanelli well viewers blindly go by the title of the video, "speed training" . dont blame the people for misunderstanding!

  • going out with a kinda slow punch. I agree, lose the gi top & try it again :-)

  • I have seen this done but at a longer distance.

  • you're blowing it out!

  • @kachunski Exactly my reaction. First, he cuts the video frame at the top making it harder to see his mouth.

I have been training for many decades and am very fast and with some warm-up I can do this, as well, but NOT every time! Give me a break...if you look closely you can see him blow air from between his lips. I challenge him to do this with a cloth around his nose and mouth.

    Ous!

  • @kenkojuku maybe the air that is caught within his wizard's sleeve is also pushing outward has he moves forward.

  • @kenkojuku Why would it even matter? It's not like he's trying to convince us that he's using magic here, he's just manipulating air currents with his punch. Suppose it's 100% real. OK, so it's a training drill to help you get some snap on your punches, and he's done it a lot, so now he's good at it. Why bother to fake it? Especially since he can just do 500 takes and then post the best one, what would be the point of lying about this?

  • i can put it out with one hand then re light it with the other and no lighter! :O

  • i find it harder without a gi :)

  • hey try kick it with frontal kick

  • hey try kick it with frontal klick

  • hey try kick it with a frontal kick

  • Man I'm still not able to do it, I guess I need more training.

  • @DariusFisback

The trick is his sleeves. As he's punching, air is collecting in the sleeves and when he snaps his arm the air gets released.

  • I guess I need more training I could only do it once after many tries. any tips? does it matter what typy of candle you use?

  • @DariusFisback - Tea light candles are the easiest. Try them first and build up.

  • @trosanelli thanks a lot. i'll try that.

  • @trosanelli dosent the GI is helps?

  • its looks like the GI is helping you?

  • @joerogijr - I got this comment twice now. I didn't realize that everyone would mention the sleeves. My test runs for this video were without a Gi. I just like the look with the Gi better ~ I'm old school like that. In my other video with advanced candle flame punch techniques, I found it harder to punch it out multiple candles with the Gi than without. The sleeves appear to constrict and slow down your punch. Something to think about for self-defense.

  • @joerogijr yeah without GI its harder but not a big deal, I havent black belt, but I can do it. Just need a little practice.

  • @joerogijr It is the Gi

  • 1 is distance

    2 is sleeves

3 is leave the candle on for a while 10 Mississippi seconds

    its harder to punch out

  • @AlsteinLe - Yes, waiting for a 10 count does make it harder although I find punching out a candle like this fairly easy. Almost any one with a little training can do this one. Check out my advanced candle punch video. I show myself failing on some attempts on harder drills.

  • you need to get a trick candle so it will re-lite it's self after you punch it out.. (just trying to be funny).. I like punch focus training with a candle.. I like to start slow and further back from the flame.. then move closer and get faster, eventually putting out the flame..

  • @valiantvideo9 HaHa! I like the idea of the re-lighting candle. It would make it easier to re-lite. Starting slow and then moving closer is great advise so that you learn the correct distance without knocking the candle over. Thanks for the input.
